lol I was thinking the same thing. My mom is going to wonder why I am asking *now* when I am 50 when I never asked before and always used the GOOD scissors at that. 🤣
Hello Peter. Your Wizarding World of Harry Potter set-up brought me back to when I first saw the Great Hall over at London's Studio Tour and when I first heard the Harry Potter theme over at Universal Studios--it evoked the same sense of wonderment and awe! To say that I love your set-up would be an understatement. I could almost sense how wonderful it must feel like to stare at your set-up after a long day at work, just looking at the figurines and see them come to life in our imagination. I have subscribed to your channel as I see how it brings out the joy of reliving our first encounter with Harry Potter's universe--it is quite evident in the way you speak about them. You, Peter, have inspired me to restart collecting again, after I've lost all my Harry Potter collection two years back and have since lost heart for doing so. Thank you, Peter, and keep up your vlogs. You inspire many.
I love how Hagrid's cottage looks at night and how Filch is hiding in a little nook. The wall backdrop and the snow are the perfect touches, my favorite scene is Malfoy waiting for the Hogwarts Express.
This looks stunning against the stone foundation. If I had a nitpicky critique it would be headlights on the Anglia and maybe some steam and/or lights on the Hogwarts Express.
Wow just a ❤ for the hardwork u put into it to make it and display it for us........you are making the christmas more delightfu!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤Lake is looking like frozen dark lake of silver...
Hey, some video ideas I would love to see! A vlog, like a regular day, or a cooking video where you try different Harry Potter recipes! Would be really fun to see!
I never knew Department 56 did villages till I watched these videos. I always knew them for the snowbabies they make. My Grandma buys me one every year for Christmas and those are some of my favorite Christmas presents to receive. My cousins also always get ones from her and we like comparing them as she gets ones that fit our unique personalities.
I've been waiting on this since your first Department 56 video! It turned out so great! Christmas and Harry Potter are my favorite things in the world so this made me sooooo happy!
Very cool that they have done Harry Potter! My Dad has collected the 'Christmas in the City' and 'New England' collections since I was a kid. He built 2 custom wood inserts to put on the top our TV, and on the bay windowsill. When my sister and I would help him, we joke that he would always yell at us to be careful, and when taking the houses out of their box to not "pull it out by the porch" or pieces would break off. It figures that the only ones that got broken were by him. One of them got a rock dropped on top of it when he was trying to make a cliff by the river. Enjoy your new collection! Look great!
My family usually uses a small flat mirror for lakes or ponds in our Christmas village. I’ve been helping my mom since I was very small to create our Christmas village. Now that I’m older and have my own place, I want to create my own. I’ve always loved Harry Potter so I feel like my Christmas village needs to be Harry Potter themed.
I have Dept.56 Snow Village. At the dollar store in the floral department you can get bags of stones and clear glass rounds. Incorporate stones along pathways, trees and roads and use the clear glass rounds around “water falls or lakes” as bubbles.
My village is a mixture of Dept. 56, LEGO and Hallmark. We do not worry about scale because it’s easily hidden by height. I urge people to look around their own homes for village extras. We add pebbles, twigs and moss from other craft projects. Old towels, blankets and sheets can be used for bases. Glad you mentioned free styrofoam and using the boxes, we do that too. Lakes and rivers are old mirrors. We have even made an Aragon out of a dollar store toy spider. Happy Christmas.
a way to make water when it's not supposed to look frozen is using hot glue and just putting it on parchment paper in whatever way/form u want it to and then when it's all dry u can just peel it off!
We use mirrors as lakes and put lights under the snow all around our village so that even in the dark, you can see the pieces that don’t have lights in them. Highly recommend! Looks great Peter
Love it! My favorite is the nighttime photos because it reminds me of the First Year students who ride the boats and see thr lights of Hogwarts Castle for the first time; in absolute awe.
Thank you for making this video! I love your enthusiasm. It's so fun to see someone else have the same reactions as I would if I was putting together that fun Harry Potter world.
I do a Christmas village every year since I was little with my family :) As we got older we divided the pieces and i think im going to "keep collecting" in my own place, and i just NEED these Harry potter additions i'm OBSESSED. I usually have a little christmas rural country scene going, and we have used flat mirrors as ice skating rinks in the past!
Village pieces I would love to see are: The Lovegoods and their home, Hagrid dragging the big Christmas tree across the courtyard, 4 Privet Drive, each of the common rooms, the seaside cottage. Also, I have a suggestion for creating a lake in your villages. How about an oval mirror instead of aluminum foil? You could make the edge random by covering parts of the edge with snow and greenery 🤔
Oh...my...goodness! I was super excited to see the notification for this video. I watched the unboxing of each piece and was eagerly awaiting to see it set up. I knew this village would look amazing. You did an excellent job. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!! BEAUTIFUL!!
Awesome job! Looks great. We always used a mirror for frozen ice skating ponds and a tiny sprinkling of baby powder for gently dusting snow on rooftops, etc. And like you, lots of cotton/stuffing/fluff for snow!
This is amazing than I pictured it in my mind and the background music is so heart touching that makes us remember how even after decades we are still celebrating our Christmas with Harry Potter ❤!
To create a black lake you can get a piece of glass (from a cheap picture frame, and then spray paint one side black. Put the painted side down and voilà mirror effect black lake! The set up looks great. After seeing the upboxing videos I purchased The Burrow, Hagrids Hut, Olivanders, and Borgin & Burke’s
I love the Christmas village idea! I've nothing done anything like that before but it looks so much cuter than an standard tree and would be ace on a windowsill (esp for us folk who have tiny apartments with little floor or shelf space).
Great job Peter! It looks fantastic. Instead of tinfoil, a nice alternative is to use small mirrors. It gives "ponds" or "lakes" a good look as it reflects the surroundings like water.
I love this so much! My dad has set up houses with his grandmother and then started with me when I was a baby. Every year we set them up. They are all from department 56 the Dickens village collection (besides 1 barbie one from department 56 due to 6 year old me wanting the one that was pink). Just last year I found out about this collection. I was heartbroken to find it was resign instead of glass but they still look amazing and the extra movements make it even better! My parents said I will get 1 a year for Christmas every year. I only have hogwarts and know it will take a long time before I have them all but I cant wait! Great job with yours! It looks stunning!
Wow, it looks awesome. A tip that my mom uses for the water is to use blue Sarah wrap on top of the aluminum foil. It helps to make it look more like water. 😀
Wow, it looks amazing! Maybe you could use a mirror for the black lake and cover the edges with your "snow"? I usually use one for my christmas village and it looks pretty good
I'm not sure if it's Dept 56 or Lemax, but there are blue spotlights you can get and they add a great night time ambience to your display! There's also a moon unit to ad the moon in the sky. In any case...You've done a beautiful job. If I was at Dept. 56 I'd be proud to show off your display. REALLY nicely done! Congratulations!
This is the most bestest video on TH-cam right now. I am out of words. It would have required so much time and efforts. Hats off mate!!!! By the way Hagrid's hut and Olivander's is looking splendid! Sorry for my English
Love it!! Oh man, if I had this I'd just sit and stare at it forever. I even paused the video just to look closer at everything. Love how you placed all the pieces too, they look great.
It was very nice to watch this video, the snow, the colors, the scenery, the incredible creativity. you did a very good job! I am very surprised how well all the elements looked amazing. Bravo ! ( a potter fan from France )
I love putting up my village. Christmas villages are my crack! I love everything about them. This Harry Potter one is so cool. The buildings look amazing. Thanks for showing us how you set up yours. ☺
My mom and I have our on Rudolph the red nose reindeer village that casts all the characters. She’s done it since I was a baby and I love helping her do it every year. And I hope one day I can have my own setup in my room or art studio!
Oh my gosh !!!!!!!!!! I can't explain how I am feeling right now by mini sample of Harry potter World. Thank you for this video...I appreciate your hard work...
The village was amazing. You should do a post unboxing, see what everyone sent you for the holiday. I enjoy seeing everyones creative outlook on the wizarding world.
Peter, it looks amazing!!! I've always wanted a christmas village but I've never had one. Unfortunately, I cant afford these, but my husband just got me my first village house. It's a gorgeous greenhouse that lights up with people decorating a tree inside. Thank you for sharing your village.
I have been waiting for you to set up your village...absolutely breathtaking! I especially the view with the lights out....i sit with the lights out to enjoy my vignettes....im sure you will do the same! I also use the batting for snow and for water or ice i use square (about 10 in) mirrors...pur hased at Walmart years ago. I like the foil idea as well. My faborite lit up building was the three broom sticks....but overall .....stunning! Thanks for sharing your decorating tips, set up process, and the finished product! It is so obvious you love Christmas!
I have the Burrow and like I commented in the other video, they're great looking, but there's far too much light bleeding through the structures of these pieces. Individual LEDs would of been a smarter move. Also seeing them all lit up shows the Burrow's light bleed through is mild compared to some of the other pieces.
scrolling the internet whilst this plays on my tv....look up and see Voldamort and Nagini spinning madly wondering who thought that was a good idea...lol. Then I see that it is time lapsing....carry on. 🤣
Very creative! That shot without the lights on, man it looked so pretty. I feel like I’d just stare at that set up with the lights out with a cup of hot cocoa.
Wow Peter, that really looks Amazing! Well done. Hope you had as much fun setting all of that up as I did watching it. Thanks for the cool ideas and tips too. 😊
That looks amazing! You can’t even tell it’s styrofoam in the middle and the plastic snow adds just a bit of magic to make it sparkle. Love the added lake! I would love to have a village like that one day. I would probably leave it up all year and change the seasons as they came hahaha. The moving pieces and hogwarts is probably my favorite ❤️😍
What a Gorgeous village! 😍 I found out that the harry potter village by D56 is sold in Europe by Enesco. Hooray! 😄. I saw that they also sell gorgeous 'year one' figures of the different characters.
"The Potter Collector"did an AMAZING job!! I love the display transitioning to evening...that was beautiful, Peter.. ( I'll have to rewatch Ollivanders to check out the wand displays...) p.s. All things " Christmas" ...love it!!.🎄🎄🎄
Wow!!! It looks amazing Peter! Hogwarts castle is so pretty all lite up. I have houses displayed above my living room window. But I keep them up all year long.
What a beautiful thumbnail! So excited to see this ! I've never been this early for any video! Just finished watching! Wow ,that's all I can say ! This is so beautiful I wish I could 'reducio' myself and roam about there myself! I am just in awe , you were absolutely honest when you said you're good at building stuff in the Hogwarts puzzle video! Also, maybe you could use wax , hot glue or resin to make the lake look even more realistic
4:32 omg Voldemort just twirling in the background
He’s such a ballet fan, that dark lord.
Good one peter!
A very potter musical intensifies
Training for the ballet Voldemort
This man isn't just a Collector
But, his Creativeness is like 'WHOAH'...
Right
My dad is giving me all of the Harry Potter legos he’s collected over the years and I’m using that as my christmas village this year
I have gotta see that!
I want to see the village also
That's what I do with the newest castle sets
Wow - now that is a gift!
feel free to follow me on Twitter @yerajediharry to see the pictures when I post them
Me, a 34 year old: "moooom, can I use the scissors???"
lol I was thinking the same thing. My mom is going to wonder why I am asking *now* when I am 50 when I never asked before and always used the GOOD scissors at that. 🤣
My Mom: No, Sweetie! What do need cut?
I was thinking the same thing. Lol
Oh my gosh this comment!!! Haha!
OMG that stone wall is the perfect backdrop!
Other people: “what a beautiful Christmas scene!”
Me: “Christmas scene? No that’s staying in my room all year long”
Absolutely stunning! I can only imagine how long it took to set up and film.
2.5 hours of set up time. 🙂
@@ThePotterCollector But that was worth it! It's sooooooo beautiful 😍😍
@@ThePotterCollector Agreed. Definitely worth the time and effort.👍
This is the best holiday village! The lights really make it so magical ❤️
My aunt used to use a mirror for a pond or lake. It looked really good.
I just want to tell you this:
Thank you for making lots of videos to accompany our Christmas.

"I feel like Bob Ross...." 🤣🤣
I've painted foil blue for water look and then used silver paint over it to create iced over look
I love how Hagrid's cottage looks at night and how Filch is hiding in a little nook. The wall backdrop and the snow are the perfect touches, my favorite scene is Malfoy waiting for the Hogwarts Express.

I showed this to my mom because we just set up our village in the basement and she was in tears because it is so beautiful. Incredible job peter!!!!!

It's so beautiful and Peter's passion for the decorating of the village is amazing. This is why I love this channel its so genuine.
I've been waiting on this since your first Department 56 video! It turned out so great! Christmas and Harry Potter are my favorite things in the world so this made me sooooo happy!
This is so amazing just the lights make it all come together. ⚡️
Love when you say ask your parents before using something sharp. You are considerate.

Everything turned out so good. You did an amazing job. And the music choice makes it seem like we are in the village. Great job.
I have to add another comment - we went to our local Hallmark store today and saw all these village pieces in person - so gorgeous!!!
To be gifted these from Department 56 is amazing!! The set up is breath taking! I don't think I would take it down!

This is amazing than I pictured it in my mind and the background music is so heart touching that makes us remember how even after decades we are still celebrating our Christmas with Harry Potter ❤!
These are so absolutely breathtaking. Must be so peaceful to put on some music and just enjoy the view.
The cotton snow around the lake looks like fog CRAZY COOL!!!!

I am speechless...so beautiful and snowy. Christmas at Hogwarts-my favorite ambience, especially Hogsmeade
Looks amazing!! It’s just so freaking cool! You did such a good job Peter, it looks amazing!
This pop up here as i watch christmas village videos and planning on watching Harry Potter tonight. Looks so good.
Wow, it looks awesome. A tip that my mom uses for the water is to use blue Sarah wrap on top of the aluminum foil. It helps to make it look more like water. 😀
harry potter and christmas go together like peanut butter and jelly. magical!

This is probably one of the coolest things I've ever seen
I have no words - well maybe a few - stunning and you have the perfect shelf and rock backdrop. Just so beautiful!!
Oh wow oh wow !!! This is so pretty that I might cry !! When the light is off.....the beauty intensifies ❤
Another thing you can use for a frozen pond is a mirror. My grandma and I do something like this every year and we use a mirror
My mom and I have our on Rudolph the red nose reindeer village that casts all the characters. She’s done it since I was a baby and I love helping her do it every year. And I hope one day I can have my own setup in my room or art studio!
OMG!!! This is AMAZING!!! Thank you for sharing this video! You did an awesome job! I wanna visit your place so badly! :D
I'm so proud of your display Peter. It turned out amazing. I love it
Oh my gosh !!!!!!!!!! I can't explain how I am feeling right now by mini sample of Harry potter World. Thank you for this video...I appreciate your hard work...
The Three Broomsticks is always my favorite HP building! I hope you consider keeping this display up year around!
I love Christmas villages so much. This one is really outstanding.
i know that sounds really dumb, but i cried over the music and the video over the final look. I really love de aesthetic that you add with the snow.
My overall favourite building is the hogwarts , it just looks gorgeous in the dark. Very well done Peter,I love you videos.
Oooo! Peter! This is so beautiful!! So magical! Good call with the foil. Very creative
The village was amazing. You should do a post unboxing, see what everyone sent you for the holiday. I enjoy seeing everyones creative outlook on the wizarding world.
Definitely going to this month. 🙂
Love that there is multiple Harry's to confuse Voldemort
Absolutely beautiful. I love every piece. Great job Peter. The placemats of everything is perfect.
Peter, it looks amazing!!! I've always wanted a christmas village but I've never had one. Unfortunately, I cant afford these, but my husband just got me my first village house. It's a gorgeous greenhouse that lights up with people decorating a tree inside. Thank you for sharing your village.

Awwww, your gramma would be so proud of you.
Yes! The video I have been waiting for. Love!
Love ur setup, your basement wall fits the aesthetic so well. I would leave this display up all year round !!!
Very creative! That shot without the lights on, man it looked so pretty. I feel like I’d just stare at that set up with the lights out with a cup of hot cocoa.
It looks amazing! I don’t know is anyone else does this but my great grandmother used mirrors for lakes and ponds. 💚
You DEFINATELY need a pumpkin patch for next to Hagrid's lakefront property !! It looks amazing!
Love this! I would absolutely love to see interviews with Department 56 artists, and even store artists who set up the displays!
why did i cry watching this? It's beautiful!
Incredible! But I must mention that at 8:05 seeing Voldemort twirl around with that music playing was super creepy hahah
What a Gorgeous village! 😍 I found out that the harry potter village by D56 is sold in Europe by Enesco. Hooray! 😄. I saw that they also sell gorgeous 'year one' figures of the different characters.
I remember when I was little I used to use cellophane paper or powered washing detergent (like surf its blue) to make ponds for projects and stuff.
"The Potter Collector"did an AMAZING job!! I love the display transitioning to evening...that was beautiful, Peter.. ( I'll have to rewatch Ollivanders to check out the wand displays...) p.s. All things " Christmas" ...love it!!.🎄🎄🎄
Awesome set up Peter. You really did a great job. I liked how when you first started laying out the "snow" it looked like foggy vibe lol.
I was soooo exited for this!!!!
Finally!!
Well I really enjoyed it thanks Peter!
Wow!!! It looks amazing Peter! Hogwarts castle is so pretty all lite up. I have houses displayed above my living room window. But I keep them up all year long.
I made some of my own potions with sand art and stuff and I have a Harry Potter wand but don't freak about which one I do have the older one
Maybe it's just 2020 craziness but this video made me cry. So lovely.
Baby powder makes great snow. It’s lighter and sticks to the buildings!!
Its the most beautiful village ive ever seen in my life
