Fantastic info! I adore your videos and learn so much from them. They’re filled with specificity and the reasoning behind your options and choices, as well. I hope you’ll keep em coming!

This is crazy. For the past 3-4 days I was rewatching loads of your videos to find the one where you mentioned the disclosure message for security cameras, I couldn’t find it at all! Then you released this today. Crazy! Thank you for the great video

I coulda written the Smart Thermostat bit verbatim. I'm in Texas where it's 105 out, and have to constantly claw back the temp from the 55-60 degrees the guests set it to. I too have the later-model basic Nest thermostat, and learned a couple days ago that it doesn't have the 'Lock Temp' guardrails that the older models did. Plus, guests often can't figure out the Nest's oh-so-clever swipe-on-the-edge UI and I've had to handle multiple guest issue reports due to this. Will definitely be switching to an alternative with a lockable temp range and simple up-and-down-button temp adjustment soon - the savings on the first month's electric bill will surely pay for it!

Id suggest looking into the ecobee. I think I may start using that brand. Simple interface ability to lock the threshold temps. And its slightly cheaper.

Hello Kylee & Steven, from Ouray, Colorado! Thank you very much for this informative video! I can clearly understand all of your points that ultimately highlights how much easier it is to manage the property with smart versions of a few standard commodities.
I hope you weathered the hurricane/tropical storm as it passed through the Coachella Valley (and the other locations you or your clients have properties).
We are coming to Palm Springs on Labor Day for about 4 nights; we'll finally get to see our condo in Palm Springs that we purchased in May 2023. This will be a recon trip; as well as we will be present when our beds are delivered that week. Then in mid October, we return for 2 weeks so as to hopefully start getting our place furnished; for both our use as well as some renting. Our HOA has a minimum 14 day rental requirement.
My boss's wife purchased a condo in Newport Beach in Orange County. So, I believe I will begin to be bringing them to Orange County for a week per month. Can you say a week per month visit for our place too!! woo hoo! Of course, that would depend if our place is rented out that week.
    Have a great day!

Thanks for your thoughts on this. I'm shopping for a smart lock of some sort. I really like the Eufy 3 in 1 video, doorbell and smartlock, but I don't know if it's overkill for what actually need at our house.

FWIW, I went with Yale locks before seeing this video. They look really nice and seemed to have the features I wanted (interface with Ring - fewer apps). While they so far haven’t had any major issues, they aren’t so user friendly. Guests always struggle with operating them and I get jam reports often.

Have you ever looked into fresh air for detecting in home smoking? (Ie, marijuana, tobacco, etc). I know smoking would be costly for our STR if someone violated our house rules but to be able to give Airbnb/the guest data if a rule was broken seems like the benefit might outweigh the cost

Could oyu explain how you are or if you are guest proofing your tech? For example how do you make sure they don't tamper with the wifi router etc?

I’d also like to hear what others do with this. My guests occasionally unplug the modem and I can’t understand why

Do y'all have a good solution for smart thermostat specific to mini-splits? I know Mysa has one but not sure how reliable it is and wondering if you've looked into any.

Great video! How do you guys feel about a Sonos system? I’m thinking about adding a few in the house, but it seems complicated. I assume it’s also complicated for guests, but I hear some people swear by it. Not sure how this works

We have a couple properties where the owners had Sonos systems already and we've found many guests unable to figure them out. It seems like they require frequent software and app updates to keep working but our experience is limited

Great video! As for Roku, what I like about the stick is that guests can log in to their own accounts and give it a date to expire. Are you paying for all the streaming platforms?
