I gotta say I've been holding off on subscribing. I was like how much of this am I really gonna watch? Turns out....... a lot lol. So you got me, I'm subbed
Sugaree is an exceptional song and Marcus is just the perfect guy to cover it. This is the kind of stuff Michael gets excited to analyze. It is going to be a show!
I unfortunately don’t play guitar anymore, gave up on it because I didn’t think I was getting any better, but I found your channel and I’m hooked on watching what you teach and how you break down the music. I may not be physically playing but I’m playing through you and I’m good with that. Thanks for what you do. 🎸
Michael - as you may know I don't agree with you all the time but I have to THANK YOU profusely for introducing me to not only Marcus King, but Colter Wall, Sturgill Simpson, and Billy Strings. Keep the reaction videos coming. I really enjoy watching!
This is great Michael! Love seeing my videos used as a training tool. There is much more like this on my channel of Kraz, Marcus, Scofield, Lettieri, Seal, Roberts, Shmeeans and others!👍
I think just about every cool rhythm guitar thing Michael called out in this video was Marcus. The man can play a lead as good as anyone but his comping is honestly my favorite part of his playing. That's where all that jazz knowledge really comes in handy.
DA#N. Thank you for your channel. As a life long guitarist who has slowly put it down over time...I thank you for your insight and exposure to amazing music. Cheers.
I got back into taking lessons recently. Growing up in punk, metal, grunge, and late 80s hair metal, I recently decided to take BlueGrass lessons with some theory. It’s been so great to take my weekly lessons and adding your spin on it. It is really helping me so much to combine the two, it really connects the dots. Thanks so much Michael, love you are back in the jam mood.
Hey Michael, I just wanted to say thank you. I have had a really rough day. Your positivity at the start of this video really helped sort of snap me out of a bad mood that I had started to fall into. I wanted to say thank you for sharing your positivity and your deep love of Music/Guitar with the world at large.
Great video, Michael! Thanks for selecting my recommendation, as well as the Dust in a Baggie at The Opry. And I'd like to especially thank you for all the videos you do on the music of the Dead. It's a ton of fun watching someone fall in love with the music right before my eyes. 🌹💀⚡
Love Marcus King and Eric Krasno. Thanks for posting Michael. You should check out the June 2014 Boonaroo Super Jam hosted by Derek Trucks. It's on TH-cam. Tedeschi Trucks Band, Krasno and most of Lettuce, David Hilalgo, Chaka Khan and a host of others. Awesome show
I wish I would have learned all of my theory to this level when I still spent all my time on my guitar!!!! Mike, I can listen to break stuff apart all day!!! Love the channel
Mary Corso (vocals) and Danny Mayer (tele in this video), both in the band, played regular Wednesday gigs in the city I live in... Both great people. Danny is a MONSTER on guitar. Shocked I never learned of Karno before this. My jaw is on the floor.
I just found your channel and I done subscribed . Love your Reactions and I love the guitar . I still play some but when I was 17 I was in a deer hunting accident that literally destroyed my right arm . The Deer slug went through my elbow and just tore everything up . I struggle to hold a pick but it took me over 3 years to just be able to play rythm on certain songs . I'm actually obsessed with guitarist .
"I don't want this to be another 20 minute video"! Haha. I want it to be 29.. Cheers brother! Fantastic tune, not many can blow an original out of the water like this .. Mic drop! Whole band slayed it!
Thanks for the Krasno pick and that it was a dead tune! This lineup is so damn good!! Lovely version. Going to check out more of Mary's stuff. That lady can SING!!
It's strange, that lick at 3:00ish you demonstrate, I just learned that as the 'working man blues' riff, and it's been in like four songs I've come across in just the last week. Funny how once you learn something, you start seeing it everywhere...
Would love to see some reactions to something from Eric Johnson, often referred to as "your favorite guitarist's favorite guitarist". Here's a few videos of his I enjoy tremendously: Eric Johnson - Cliffs of Dover (Austin, TX): th-cam.com/video/5Nd7EZ3k39s/w-d-xo.html Eric Johnson - Cliffs of Dover (Woodlands, TX): th-cam.com/video/smwQafhNU6E/w-d-xo.html Eric Johnson Clean Tone Signature: th-cam.com/video/7u8jFYy7Rjs/w-d-xo.html Eric Johnson Teaches Chord Technique: th-cam.com/video/H5UAtonytkg/w-d-xo.html Eric Johnson at Saucer Studios, Austin TX: th-cam.com/video/5ZVODLLiOhM/w-d-xo.html
FYI - half of this band is Marcus King's band (keys and horns). The rest are all Krasno's friends that are obviously insanely talented. Great supergroup jam here...
I love your explaination on the major minor playing, i tend to play minor stuff and dont why it works, your music theory knowledge makes it a bit clearer.
You embodied that cartoon where the music teacher says "Come on guys, it's not rocket science" and the next cartoon is the rocket scientist saying "Come on guys, it's not musical theory" :D
Me, before the video: I don’t have time for a 29 minute video
29 minutes later: maybe I should watch that again
Same here.
"I don't want this to be a 20 minute video"
29 minutes later....
I'm so happy I live in a time where we have Marcus King and Billy Strings. The talent on these guys is out of this world.
Look for a national tour from these guys. The collaboration would be unbelievable. Krasno is no joke either
Preach!!!!
Summertime!!!!!
Amen
@@rippinlipz7725 I could listen to/watch that TH-cam on repeat for days!!!!!
Every Marcus King video should come with a warning for face cramps.
- Mike: "I don't want this to be a 20 minute video"
- The video: 28':58"
- Me: Suscribed
Plenty more of Kraz, Marcus and others on my channel!
You know Marcus King’s guitar is going to heaven bc he sure plays the hell out of that thing. Always astonishing
What a rainfall of bliss anytime Marcus holds the stage.
Amen , well said!
I wish I could hear Marcus King for the first time again... literally any song will do
More Markus, just saw him 2 nights ago. He’s fun to watch.
I gotta say I've been holding off on subscribing. I was like how much of this am I really gonna watch? Turns out....... a lot lol. So you got me, I'm subbed
That tip on finding a spot on the drums to accent when playing rhythm guitar is so helpful.
Michael thanks for your music enthusiasm it sparks mean man
Great to hear hear jam bands bro. I believe Jerry would approve
I read "ft. Marcus King" and don't think i've clicked anything quicker.
The way Marcus comes out of the solo back into the rhythm part is pure genius.
Saw Marcus before the pandemic, best concert I’ve been to!
That was my last show...Los Angeles
My last one too! Vegas. He tore the roof off
My last show too. Newport Columbus, Ohio December 2019
Almost 3 hours w/ no set break.....phenomenal
Fantastic! Thanks again
This is just so darn good
Sugaree is an exceptional song and Marcus is just the perfect guy to cover it. This is the kind of stuff Michael gets excited to analyze. It is going to be a show!
Michael is never not excited.

Marcus King is todays Warren Haynes, strong voice and guitar skills
I've watched and listened to Warren Since he joined the Allmans One of my favorites, but I think Marcus is a wee bit more talented .
Warren Haynes is todays Warren Haynes. Dude is still alive an killing it.
@@iceman10129 came to say the exact same thing, straight word for word! Thanks for beating me to it.
shoot man, he is today's SRV as far as I'm concerned. Incredible talent.
I love Warren Haynes. But I would put Marcus a bit above
Love your videos, bud. Thanks!
Marcus King is the hottest most unique iv heard for a while , then heard em play guitar . It was a great day .
I Want The Fun That Mary's Hav'n!!💥💯🤩😎

Love your videos never stop bro
Amazing sounding band! Mahalo!
This a great way to start the morning. I have loved the dead for years but lately the covers are all I’ve been listening to.
This is one I haven’t heard. I loved the Chris Robinson cover because of his soulful voice. This is so good
So glad you decided to watch this one, Mike. It's one of my favorites. A young Marcus King flexing his vocal pipes, fantastic guitar work, great jam.
I think just about every cool rhythm guitar thing Michael called out in this video was Marcus. The man can play a lead as good as anyone but his comping is honestly my favorite part of his playing. That's where all that jazz knowledge really comes in handy.
Oh, and Thanks for introducing me to so many different guitar players and artists !! My playlist has grown immensely. Stay safe 🎸
So good man....Marcus has that perfect tone too.
Marcus king is amazing man

Man Mike you make me feel like im an infant in the guitar world your knowledge is out of this world.
Marcus King's version of The Well on the new Gibson ad for his signature ES345 blows my mind
Marcus THE King 👑
Thank you so much for this great video. Very helpfull 🙏
I love the way this guy very passionately and quickly describes musically what these great artists are doing great stuff he is so quick
I saw this tour in Fairfield CT. One of my favorite shows ever Have a sweet signed poster from Eric and Marcus

Just brilliant explanation of how a minor chord progression plays over a major 1/4/5. LOVE. IT.
I love your enthusiasm for music theory, Michael! its infectious and inspiring
Love these videos! Nothing feels forced. Just a man doing what he loves.

Shit Marcus was only 21 at the time... Old Soul🤟🏽Glad these youngsters are playing real!! Music☮️
It’s amazing how mature his playing is.

Damn Marcus just has that it factor. The Srv vibe in the way he takes over a jam something about those blues Kings right?
Thank you !!!!!

Michael im a huge fan of yours, i like to see your react to Parcels, any live show or any presentation, i think u will love them.
As a teacher you give perspective and structure to creativity. Good work,
This has been my favorite collaboration by Marcus King so far for the last few years. He just about raised Jerry Garcia from the grave!!
I went to college with Mary Corso and she's absolutely unreal!
Danny Mayer on that third guitar part!
Love the subtle Super Trooper reference
"I don't want this to be another 20 minute video"! Haha. I want it to be 29.. Cheers brother! Fantastic tune, not many can blow an original out of the water like this .. Mic drop! Whole band slayed it!
You should definitely check out Will Swans play through of Chucky and the giant tortoise from Kiesel Guitars. By far my favorite guitarist.
Eric’s vocals sound so much like John Mayer! ;)
I saw Marcus the first time with TTB. I think the young man is rounding into the best BLUES man of the next generation
Hi Michael I love your videos:) I also play the guitar but I can’t get immediately a song like you do; keep up the good work
Stay on it brother! I knew this one already but always a treat to see a great band make it their own!
Who doesn't love a good horn section?
Her vibrato gave me chills.
Thanks for the Krasno pick and that it was a dead tune! This lineup is so damn good!! Lovely version. Going to check out more of Mary's stuff. That lady can SING!!
"cream?... cream? okay, no cream." Nice Super Troopers reference Palmisano.
Finally a Krasno reaction!
That was cool. Thanks
Michael: "I don't want this to be a 20-minute video".
Everyone else: "Screw it. Make it a 28-minute video"
Exactly.
You should do the E. Reed clip as well. They absolutely play the hell out of it.
Michael: I don't want this to be a 20 minute video...
Success! It was more like 30!
Marcus doing the Dead!
Ahhhhhh...
Thanks Mike!

I love your explaination on the major minor playing, i tend to play minor stuff and dont why it works, your music theory knowledge makes it a bit clearer.
Should review/react to some Willy Tea Taylor. It would be a great intro lesson to the Tenor Guitar.
You should do some J.J Grey and Mofro! Same type of vibe!
Would love to see you review “Si tu savais” by Bireli Lagrene.
Maestro, please look at this “Jose Feliciano - Flight of the Bumble Bee” it’s the Feliz Navidad guy. You won’t be disappointed!!!!
Great vid!
I enjoyed your explanation although I’m out of the loop. Don’t know the language of music that well but I do play.
hangin out man awesome at 12.59
Four seconds in and I guess this is what im doing for the next 30 min.
Would love to hear your thoughts on Tool’s “7empest”. It’s 16 minutes of guitar goodness.
speaking of YES, YES have you looked at any Steve Howe on this channel?
Marcus King is literally the most talented 25 year old on the planet.
Krasno is a luscious god.
You embodied that cartoon where the music teacher says "Come on guys, it's not rocket science" and the next cartoon is the rocket scientist saying "Come on guys, it's not musical theory" :D
Marcus King is a beast.
You need to check out Marcus King with moe. At Lockn' 2019 "Opitum" the solo absolutely rips.
Michael, love you react videos. Always learn much! Your tone is always great. R U into a pedal board and Amp or Kemper, Helix etc? Thx, Mike
Anything with Marcus King is an insta watch!
Your little warmup sounded like Jimmy Herring, at the beginning of Ferries Wear Boots.
you gotta react to a song by GA-20. they're a throwback blues band with that old feel.
