University doesn't matter much for technical fields. Generally, non-technical fields are not recommended. If you know something like Java, Networking, or Information Security, getting a job is incredibly easy. The business-related fields like marketing, data science, and analytics, usually suffer a lot while finding jobs. I have even seen product managers have an easier time finding jobs and many business analytics grads having to take product management roles. Moreover for non-stem courses its very hard to pay off your loan since there's no stem extension, fees are high, and it's hard to find a job.

Brotha, I made some indian friends during my degree. I’m an indian american born and brought up in the US, I never once did I appreciate being in America until my friends told me about their problems. Its worth coming here if you have a lot of money and you know you’re gonna get a job here. Otherwise its a risky investment. Now whether I get a job or not, i can stay in the US for as long as I like because I’m a citizen. But its not the same for my friends and people gotta be prepared for those kinda of eventualities.

In 2020 USCIS received more than 200k applications for total 85000 yearly limit of h1b. So chances of getting rejected for h1b are 50, 50%. There is a huge competition there as IT service companies like TCS, Infosys apply for so many h1bs in bulk. If you are studying here on masters and even if you get a job you might get rejection for h1b. Bright side is that you get 3 chances (3 year OPT) and most likely you will make it through this.

If you earn that kind of money in texas lets say you are considered very well off. Texas doesn't have state tax and housing is quite cheap. Whereas california and New york, new jersey has very high property/state tax plus house prices are quite expensive.

Do you have any arrangement where someone can pay and book one-to-one session with you for specified time (30 min, 1 hr, etc.) to ask you specific questions that you may or may not have covered in your videos. This setup will benefit you for your time and gives other the opportunity to have their specific questions answered. Also, since this will be a paid service, people will be respectful of your time. This gives some of us who have limited free-time the opportunity to get immediate answers without the need to go thru all your videos. I believe this will be a win-win for everyone. Thanks for your feedback.

Syed, that is indeed a good suggestion and I get your point. The issue is my time availibility. With 9 to 6 job and youtube as a side hustle I rarely have even 30 minutes for a consultation. I try to give my knowledge for free via youtube comments and videos. During that process I also understand needs and questions that people have and I plan my future videos accordingly. But thanks again for giving detailed feedback

I would go for computer science with electives in machine learning and data science. That way you have the option for doing job as computer engineer as well as data scientist. For one data scientist job there will be 30 software engineer jobs. You need to get a job in order to file h1b visa hence I would strongly suggest comp science course.

10 years back this was possible. I came to USA directly on h1b through a consultancy company. Now they have made it very very hard to come to USA directly for a job. There are still some consultancy companies who directly file h1b for a candidate who is in India, these consultancy companies are rare and the chances of not getting selected in h1b lottery as well as getting rejected in visa stamp are very very high.
