No you're right, it is totally crazy how normalised plastic surgery is. And the discourse around it is borked because people are so unwilling to examine their own choices. To say "I do it for myself/it's my body my choice" like we all live in individual vacuums is hugely disingenuous. I have been subject to it and found myself researching undereye fillers. The idea that my undereyes would look better a different way is totally subjective and it *came from somewhere*. Incidentally I ruled it out because of the cost! I was shocked at how much money people are sinking into beauty procedures. There'll be a thread on BCG of people hating on this podcast because you're judging women for their choices by not viewing societal trends totally uncritically again BEN.
totally agree.. i hate it when people say “it makes me feel confident!” like achieving confidence at any cost should be the goal. sure, maybe you are gaining some confidence but the reason you’re gaining confidence is because you’re conforming to beauty standards, not because changing your nose a few mm or having boobs a few sizes different can inherently make you feel better. if you lived on a desert island would your nose size matter? no? then you aren’t doing it only for yourself. also the effects of people in your life seeing you change your nose will make others question their noses, etc, so you are perpetuating these beauty standards which can harm other women/people edit: also it just perpetuates the idea that your confidence should come from your looks and your looks are inherently important to who you are
a really good point. all these fillers and surgeries just perpetuate unrealistic beauty standards and that leads to several young women and men inherently growing up with insecurities and a desire to change themselves. gonna nerd it out a bit: there's a Marxist concept called interpellation which essentially means that the decisions we seem to think are made by us are actually made by societal constructs that have been embedded into our psyche.
I do think health related plastic surgery is obviously important (breast reduction, weight reduction, reworking inside the nose, etc). I'm kind of for plastic surgery in some cases, but I think it's way to normalized. It should be destigmatized, but not normalized if you know what I mean.
well, i am gonna disagree. Maybe i will be a little biased because of my own plans but i think blaming individuals for confirming to the beauty standards is kinda wrong. i get that individuals are the ones to create the society and the standards but to me it is more influencers and advertisements. growing up before social media was this prevalent i had people around me that had both perfect noses and also ones with conventionally not so pretty noses. even though i always had the worst nose i never realized it until social media became what it is today. this was when both i started realizing how ugly my nose was and also people started pointing it out. now i want to get nose job but also growing up i have seen especially my mom constantly making fun of people’s plastic surgery. and now i feel like i can’t win both ways. if i don’t get a surgery how will i ever feel confident when i never saw someone with my nose being called “pretty”, never someone like me being listed in the top ten hottest lists of tabloids? i have constantly called i should put my glasses back on cause i looked better with them (covering my nose’s bridge). i have heard highscool friends talking about another friend and how he would actually be very handsome if he had a good nose or how she is not even that beautiful did you see her nose kind of stuff. i feel like blaming me or individuals who were unhappy that mask mandates ended because now we can’t cover our nose for getting surgeries is unfair. if we get surgery we are at fault for contributing to beauty standards or we are fake and all that stuff . i think solution to these should not be with blaming individuals who get these surgeries to fell more confident but celebrities who enforces these, movies who never have even slightly flawed actresses, advertisements saying this is the way for fulfillment, fashion shows which even while including plus size models still picking ones with pretty facial features. As someone who wants to work in marketing in the future, this is actually a super helpful video to remind me of all the things not to do when sending pitches to influencers lol
I see a lot more channels that use patreon/channel membership are channels that post educational/controversial content (calling out shady businesses, etc), which I support because they are often demonetized, but I want the creator to continue to put out the content.
I've always wondered with brand deals for skin care or even gummies/vitamins; the influencer usually says they've been trying it for a month or more, but the container they're using is full so obviously they weren't. Is it required of the influencer to have a full container for aesthetics or is it just the influencer not using it? Because, at least to me, it just seems disingenuous when I see the product is full. Anyone else feel this way?
Lol I love the diet one saying they want to reach the US market, but then say that a post can be on the topic of.... "I lost X KG..." We don't use KG in the US!!! SMH
Not that I'm defending the model, but the thing is that Twitch is different from Patreon and other subscription services. Paying subs are not owed anything. They get the exact same content as people who don't pay, and the expectation is that they are just happy to support the creator and get a shoutout.
They don't get ads on that creator's streams, get special emotes, and can chat in sub only mode. So I wouldn't say they get the exact same content as non paying viewers
Thank you for getting real about the surgical modification topic. As I get older I get more and more concerned about the number of influencers who are marketing plastic surgery to young followers. I'm worried for our future generations, there's too much emphasis on changing yourself to fit in and instant gratification.
This is why I watch your videos and support your businesses!!! 💅🏻You guys are amazing and if everyone had morals/insights as you two do, this world would be completely different!!!🥰
Got foot surgery on Friday, and I caught up on all the episodes I haven’t seen yet. Been waiting for this one for a couple days now!!! Anyone have any suggestions on toenail colors? I FINALLY decided to clear out my inbox during the start of the pandemic last year ... I currently have almost 400 unread emails cause I’m working again and don’t care anymore 😂😂
Love it when you guys do this type of video. My channel is basically miniscule, and I don't ever expect to be in a position to be getting sponsorship solicitations. But if one day I do, I'm glad there are people like you sharing your experiences and pointing out things to watch out for!
I’m so glad you guys are talking about nfts. It’s so weird to see youtubers throw away their values for a quick cash grab. For example Philip defranco, despite being an “unbiased” new channel, he promoted nfts. Every one of his videos that promoted nft, there were people telling him how bad they were, but he never addressed it.
I suspect that the “blank” diet email probably said they were aligned with your values because of your fitness/weightlifting type stuff you’ve posted (eg. the how many nail polishes can I lift? video), or the fitness podcast maybe - I suspect that means that they probably skimmed through some of the videos rather than being truly familiar with your content (if they had actually watched your videos properly, they would likely have heard you mention how predatory you find influencers promoting diet companies).
I am subscribed to one streamer on Twitch, I found him on TH-cam and I don't think he's ever had a sponsorship. I know I'm basically paying for free content, but if no one would subscribe he wouldn't be able to stream full-time, Twitch is his main income. I know the principle is a little strange compared to TH-cam, but it's a very conscious decision and I like supporting him
Omg you guys are seriously the best!! Seeing Cristine and Ben simply bring me joy in my boring life of studying (I still do it though don’t worry) ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Kudos Ben!!! This video of Mathiew Santoro... It popped up recently and I just watched it from curiosity! From my side, totally personal opinion and perspective, it was one of the most hypocritical videos I ever saw! I knew all the video was an act. I do not recall the part of membership. What hit me though was the point of begging the audience to check out 1, 2, 3, 4 of his latest videos because he did not meet ends meet anymore. (I think this triggers the algorith). He blamed the youtube algorith and somehow the audience for not watching his videos anymore, even though he believed his latest videos were of the best work. We are an audience and if you are not relatable anymore, we will choose something else. It is our right. Don't blame us. You the TH-camr is an independent entertainer.

I mean they almost definitely won’t be using any of the stuff they promote but they probably do use a full container because it looks better ?
Lol I love the diet one saying they want to reach the US market, but then say that a post can be on the topic of.... "I lost X KG..." We don't use KG in the US!!! SMH
lol didn‘t even notice that😂 but good point 😂😂
I love kgs...they're far less depressing than lbs lol
I don't think that mailbox will ever be cleared....
Not that I'm defending the model, but the thing is that Twitch is different from Patreon and other subscription services. Paying subs are not owed anything. They get the exact same content as people who don't pay, and the expectation is that they are just happy to support the creator and get a shoutout.
As well as being able to chat when it's in certain modes.
They don't get ads on that creator's streams, get special emotes, and can chat in sub only mode. So I wouldn't say they get the exact same content as non paying viewers
@@s_-cv9uq There's also sub only streams, sub exclusive discord channels, sub-only requests in chat etc.
honestly this is my fav podcast. its so nice to just listen to it while on a walk or doing something.
I'm hoping that there is a frozen food company pitching a concept for Garbage Bowls.
I would probably buy frozen Garbage Bowls.
L
How you didn’t jokingly have Raid Shadow legends sponsor this pod is a missed opportunity...
This always reminds me I have an hour of work left and it gets me through that last hourly grind.
Thank you for getting real about the surgical modification topic. As I get older I get more and more concerned about the number of influencers who are marketing plastic surgery to young followers. I'm worried for our future generations, there's too much emphasis on changing yourself to fit in and instant gratification.
Sometimes....I just get distracted and just watch Menchie and forget to listen. She just listening to her parents talking together.
This is why I watch your videos and support your businesses!!! 💅🏻You guys are amazing and if everyone had morals/insights as you two do, this world would be completely different!!!🥰
i literally was looking for something to listen to while I cleaned out my personal and school email inboxes. thanks cristine!
Omg Cristine with glasses on is a whole new vibe! Love it! 💜💜
“Tana Mongoose” 😂😂😂😂😂
Cristine’s hair looks super healthy in this video. It looks voluminous and shiny.
Nearly forgot it was taco Tuesday because of the other videos, notification hit and me Pikachu face huh yay!
Love these videos! Glad to be one of the first to get to see this gem 🥰
I was checking the background for the new box dropping this weekend 👀⚡
Got foot surgery on Friday, and I caught up on all the episodes I haven’t seen yet. Been waiting for this one for a couple days now!!! Anyone have any suggestions on toenail colors? Wasn’t allowed to have them painted for surgery ☹️ I can’t reach my foot but I’m sure I could guilt my boyfriend into doing it!😂😂😂
Holo rainbow!🏳️🌈
Blue with sparkles
Can’t go wrong with a deep plum colour imo
Orange! Bright n cheerful. Or sky blue. All with holo ofc! Don't know where you are but here in London it's sunny and warm. I hope you recover well 😊
anything holo
It’s so interesting to see how companies show how they really see TH-camrs
I am so glad to be a part of this relationship
I ain’t never cleaned out my inbox, I just let them fester, i’m a digital hoarder
I FINALLY decided to clear out my inbox during the start of the pandemic last year ... I currently have almost 400 unread emails cause I’m working again and don’t care anymore 😂😂
New collection box in the back👀
I’m not even getting emailed by thousands of brands... and my inbox still looks like this
Love it when you guys do this type of video. My channel is basically miniscule, and I don't ever expect to be in a position to be getting sponsorship solicitations. But if one day I do, I'm glad there are people like you sharing your experiences and pointing out things to watch out for!
9:02 "...what's a slimming patch??" A scam Cristine, a scam. 🤣🤣🤣
Or maybe amphetamine delivered via the same mechanism as a nicotine patch . Quite dangerous just like getting those drugs as pills .
i love how she categorise them as "funny emails"
I’m so glad you guys are talking about nfts. It’s so weird to see youtubers throw away their values for a quick cash grab. For example Philip defranco, despite being an “unbiased” new channel, he promoted nfts. Every one of his videos that promoted nft, there were people telling him how bad they were, but he never addressed it.
“HELL0,”
WRONG. INCORRECT. 😂😂
Menchie is such a mood in this one
This is what i have been waiting for for the whole weeeeeek
I'm a bit buzzed and as such these emails are so much funnier than they should be. Loving it!
I just got an ad for perfume while ben was talking about tana mongoose 0-0 the algorithm's really working hard today.
I absolutely LOVE that all the emails have been put into a folder called, " Funny emails"! 😂😂😂
Yesss! I liked the inbox video on Simplynotlogical!
When they talked about people complaining about their videos not being pushed by TH-cam I instantly thought of Gabby Hannah lol
Please react to all the Eurovision songs + pauze acts in your next Podcasts it would mean a lot for your 3 European listeners!!
As someone still living through the Eurovision craze I totally agree! I want to see Cristine singing Mata Hari
I am subscribed to one streamer on Twitch, I found him on TH-cam and I don't think he's ever had a sponsorship. I know I'm basically paying for free content, but if no one would subscribe he wouldn't be able to stream full-time, Twitch is his main income. I know the principle is a little strange compared to TH-cam, but it's a very conscious decision and I like supporting him
The first email is essentially the opposite of a common job listing.
Also, "Tana Mongoose" XD
Cristine, I totally love your openness. "I'm just overly triggered by a small group of TH-cam influencers." That's totally me, too (the openness). 😆🤣
Truly one of my favourite topics to date!
The new collection box is BEAUTIFUL Cristine!!!
45:24 "Mouth tape" lol, that sounded like they want you to just shut the f up 😂😂
Hollo, Ben if u could pls even out your hoodie strings before filming thx
Oh my god it's the reason I listen on Spotify most of the time lmao
LMAO
I bet in the time it took to film this and delete those 12 emails, Cristine received 20 more asking the same thing! 😂
Omg you guys are seriously the best!! Seeing Cristine and Ben simply bring me joy in my boring life of studying (I still do it though don’t worry) ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Menchie is such a queen! She so pretty!
YES!!! I've been waiting for this.
This is going to be so satisfying ❤
Love how the new collection box is just sitting in the background waiting to be released hahaha
watched your live stream on Sunday! it was really soothing and enjoyable!
Educational and entertaining! Loving your podcasts!
i remember when you got sponsored by best fiends :3 now i thank you for my addiction to that app 😂😂
Ha! The ad placement for "the valuable opportunity" was hilarious.
I actually came here after Cristine's snap story to check whether the new collection box was actually there or not and guess what??? It was right there🙂😭
I'm obsessed with mobile games and I sometimes spend money on them, and there's no way people spend "on average" $2500 on in-app purchases. few people do spend insane amounts of money on mobile games though, which might skew the average.
Oh 100% You get whales who spend a fortune and they skew everything
maybe in total in A FEW DECADES!
I feel like the data (if it is legitimate) might be accounting ALL money spent on a phone, including food delivers, online shopping, ect... That is the only way I can see someone spending that much money.
