The most annoying thing that people say is “It’s all going to end up in the same place!”...Yes, it ends up as shit, but it doesn’t mean it tastes good. You can’t taste the inside of you stomach on a normal basis, so saying it ends up mixed up in your stomach makes no sense. I’m in between and like some food separated and some mixed.

Btw, tomato is a berry, so technically a fruit. When I was in South Korea, they gave me a fruit plate and tomato was there inbetween fruits. I love tomato but I don't wanna eat it together with fruits.

I was going to bring up dessert hummus! Beans don't really have much taste on their own, so normal hummus is mostly savory flavors like garlic and cumin and salt in a chickpea setting. If you don't add the savory flavors but instead add sugar and vanilla and chocolate and peanut butter, you can get chocolate hummus that also tastes really good! Instead of pita chips, put it on graham crackers or apples.
You kind of have to not think of it as "hummus" but rather a sweet bean dip. I'm making brownie batter black bean dip right now (because black bean brownies are totally a thing and they taste good, just not as good as actual brownies). Asian pastries have sweet red bean (adzuki) filling, so sweet bean mush is not that bizarre!

Here in Puerto Rico the mayo and ketchup combination is very normal. We actually have a sauce called mayo-ketchup which is, as the name states, mayo, ketchup and garlic. We usually use it on things like mofongo, tostones or other fried dishes. I suggest tasting it one day, it’s really good!
@@avokanima3403 Fellow Iowan here! The seasonings in it are actually really good, its a mix of dill, parsley, chives, garlic, and onion mixed with buttermilk powder that makes it really rich and tangy. I don't like ranch dressing though, I agree with Cristine that it's bad on salad and just too thick. But they sell the seasoning mix pre-made in stores and its really good added to soup or pasta
Responding to the whole Ranch topic: Store bought ranch is honestly awful, but homemade ranch is WAY better IMO. We make it all the time at my house (basically coconut milk, egg, a bit of olive oil, seasonings like salt and garlic powder, and herbs) and it’s totally different. It’s a lot thinner and less artificial tasting, and if you don’t like the basic Hidden Valley ranch or whatever it’s best to try making a bit at home. Just a bit of a ✨ life hack ✨
I don't even do that and it's better than store bought. We use the hidden valley ranch seasoning, milk, and mayo. Then I add a bit of other seasoning and mix it up. Hidden valleys premade stuff is just so artificial but the milk and mayo "water" that taste down.

I wonder if they do this in European countries. Also did people dip fries in their shakes before Wendy’s? I don’t think it would be the same with diner fries and milkshake
Absolutely! I love to dip milk bread (conchas or Japanese kind) in my black tea. When I was little I used to dunk my dinner roll into the sparkling cider on thanksgiving. My family thought I was insane
In my country we have a thing called popara which is basically bread soaked into tea. I haven't had it since I was like 6 but I remember really liking it. Not sure if I'd still like it now though
Being British it was interesting to see Ben's reaction to Cristine dipping cookies in tea. Tea and biscuits (cookies) is a big thing in the UK and most people dip.
rich tea is the best for dunking in tea (don't really dunk anything else in tea), I don't dunk in coffee, but I will pretty much dunk any chocolate biscuit into hot chocolate
I'm with Ben on compartmentalizing food, it might end up in your stomach but I don't have taste buds in my stomach. I don't like bacon, its just crispy fat, but I do like fruit in dessert. No raisins in anything except oatmeal cookies and on their own. Oh and mustard is disgusting. So basically my opinions are a combination of Bens and Cristine's. But brussels sprouts are not good, and neither are any other bitter vegetables/salads. Also, "I have never tried cottage cheese" all eastern European countries are shooketh. Queso is the liquid yellow cheese dip, but the same word is used for cheese in Spanish. Also, there is a gene that can make cilantro taste like soap.
Fatback is meat free bacon lol it's delicious, I don't like bacon either really because it's either too crispy or too soggy and almost impossible to get right, plus too much fat makes me sick (despite what that first bit made it sound)

Ben’s obsession with hummus is like You Don’t Mess With the Zohan level
Not a lot of people remember that movie I’m impressed
Ben's carbon monoxide hummus story had me laughing so hard that my dad knocked on my door to check I was okay!
Haha I also am guilty of consistently eating hummus as dinner for while when I was younger, but I did mix it up a bit more than he did!
Ben has become so bubbly and it’s an absolute delight to watch! The outro was so cute
For the peanut butter on a burger: peanut butter sauces are widely used, especially in Asian cuisines. I grew up eating satay with peanut sauce and it's absolutely delicious!

Good tip! My parents always told me to stop drinking it or I’d throw up, mom, why!
I'm glad I'm not the only "freak" lol, I hate wasting the brine after the pickles are done
My kiddo loves drinking the brine after we finish the pickles, hell, even while there are still pickles in the jar! My husband thinks it's weird
It's also a great mixer with vodka. Because the brine is already so strong the vodka tends to lose its harsh sting and taste :3

There are whole segments in the episodes of them just trying to transport the cakes to their destinations!
I am the Ben in the relationship. I eat everything separately and when I love something, I want lots of it. Christine is right as well though, those kinds of people are usually terrible at balancing life. When I got into make up, that's all the videos I watched and all the purchases I made, same thing afterward when I got into skincare. And then I bought a dog and I joined so many dog groups, made many friends of people with dogs so I could socialize mine, started BAKING dog cookies, even though I hated cooking before... Food preferences can be really deep sometimes..

Most controversial opinion: HOW TO PRONOUNCE “BAGELS”
I have never in my life heard anyone say "baggles" until today.
One of the best bits in community history.
it's pronounced however it's pronounced where you live.
Wait, huh how do yall pronounce it if not "baggels"
@@ellad2397 Bagels, with a long A. BAY-gels. The same way Ben says it and the way everyone says it. Click the speaker icon on any dictionary definition and it has the pronunciations out loud. www.dictionary.com/browse/bagel The standard English rule is: A single consonant in the middle of a multi syllable word (one g in bagel) means it's preceded by a long vowel. Of course there are exceptions because English is full of exceptions, but if you don't know how to pronounce a word, the standard rule is the best starting place.

Can we just agree to do away with the "the customer is always right" mentality? More often than not in my experience it's just given customers an excuse to borderline abuse service workers.
Yes! I’ve worked in retail before and my mum has for like 30 years now and the audacity some customers have just based off of that mentality is insane.

Ben and Cristine: we hate ranch

A lot of people from Iowa like ranch a lot. It's practically part of the food pyramid here.

Queso in spanish is literally "cheese" sooooo it is regular dairy cheese.
I'd substitute coconut milk with buttermilk, since I think that's the "traditional" recipe, but agreed 100%. Store bought is so nasty...
I don't even do that and it's better than store bought. We use the hidden valley ranch seasoning, milk, and mayo. Then I add a bit of other seasoning and mix it up. Hidden valleys premade stuff is just so artificial but the milk and mayo "water" that taste down.
If you're interested a youtuber named Erin Robinson recently posted a video where she tastes EVERY single store bought ranch to find the BEST and honesty it's good information hahaha there's like 30
@@witchskee try half buttermilk half sour cream, it's flipping delicious, if you wanna get extra fancy you can roast garlic and press it into a paste and add that, it's excellent for dipping, also I wouldn't add egg

Owen Thomas not solely american. most of us don't give a shit what americans think is theirs lmao

Wendy’s started in America though.... so it’s definitely American. Maybe just fries and ice cream in general isn’t? 🤷🏻♀️
Dipping bread/buns in hot beverages (coffee, tea, milo) is amazing
WHAT
Yeah like a slice of baguette with some butter and red fruits jam dipped in hot chocolate in the morning is 👌
OMG ME TOO ESPECIALLY FOR BREAKFAST OMG ITS SO GOOD

Being British it was interesting to see Ben's reaction to Cristine dipping cookies in tea. Tea and biscuits (cookies) is a big thing in the UK and most people dip.
Yeah that seems normal to me, we dip breakfasts things together (French here)
rich tea is the best for dunking in tea (don't really dunk anything else in tea), I don't dunk in coffee, but I will pretty much dunk any chocolate biscuit into hot chocolate
You actually do!
Fatback is meat free bacon lol it's delicious, I don't like bacon either really because it's either too crispy or too soggy and almost impossible to get right, plus too much fat makes me sick (despite what that first bit made it sound)
