Terrific, detailed review, thanks so much! Let's all remember.....It's a budget watch. Cannot expect a $69 watch to compare to a $450 specialized smart watch. Even the specialized watch cannot be compared to a 12 lead ECG. This watch allows everyone to become more aware of their health and if it gets more people to take better care of themselves, it's worth it's weight in gold.

Glad you included this on your channel even know it's not a perfect watch. I ordered one because I'm a casual runner who just wants gps without having to take my phone with me. I was going to get the fitbit charge 5, but after seeing this for half the price and better accuracy it's a no brainer.

I still prefer to take my phone with me as I sometimes run on trails or when it's getting dark and if I have an emergency I'd like to be able to call for help, plus my mom is getting on in years and I'd just as soon that she be able to contact me at all times just in case. Also I sometimes listen to music and need my phone for that.
But I got this watch specifically because it has its own GPS (several in fact) as my previous fitness watch relied on my phone's GPS which could be very inaccurate, sometimes adding miles to my run for no apparent reason. Plus I like its auto-pause feature which my previous watch didn't.

@@lordtaher9018 in my opinion yes, the fitbit charge 5 wasn’t able to properly monitor my steps, 3 hours of desk work was translated in approximately 4500 steps 😂

Wife got me the bip 3 pro last Christmas(Dec '22). I work nights, which means I sleep during the day. When it records any sleep at all, it will record it as "naps" since it's during the day, and will regularly record me sitting at my desk working as taking a nap. Can't say it's very accurate.
The battery life is exceptional. It loses ~5% per day, which means I can go a solid 2 weeks without thinking about charging. This is a double edged sword, because that's just enough time for me to forget I actually have to charge the thing. Thankfully it charges most if not all the way while I'm getting ready for work.
It will occasionally have issues connecting and I have to kill the Zep app, restart the watch and sometimes just flat out restart my phone(Pixel) to get it to connect.
If it's been over an hour or two since I last opened the app to resync it won't have any weather data. Which makes having weather on the watch utterly USELESS since I have to pull out my phone any fucking way.
It's also hit or miss on turning on by turning my wrist. It works for me about out of 10 times unless I get lucky.
All in all, you get what you pay for, and you don't get what you don't pay for. The nothing watch looks promising, but it's a 1st gen. We'll see how their 2nd gen looks.

Just thought I mention that for females it has a menstrual cycle tracker that is also useful. I got one recently, I'm not an seriously active person, i use it for recreational activities and also for step tracking etc. and phone accessibility as my phone is mostly in my backpack. Great watch if you are not a fitness maniac 😜and just want general readings and health tracking.

I purchased Bip 3 Pro’s for my husband and me on Amazon and they were on sale for $55. I had originally thought about getting it for my mother so I could use the GPS tracking to know her location on her walks but I don’t think it will work for that. But for $55.00 it was perfect for us to track our daily activity and - heck - just to use as a watch to know what time it is without having to go look for my phone! It’s taking me some time to learn the functions but I am pleased with the purchase. My husband has Parkinson’s and it like the “Stand Up” alert. That was something I tried for us to do every hour but didn’t last too long before the watch. Like the long battery life, too. I had purchased a fit-bit several years ago and it’s amazing how much technology has improved and cost come down. I rate the watch 8/10. Thanks for your review. Very thorough and educational as I am not a techie.

I really appreciate you put the watch through the paces and giving a thorough comparison to watches more than 10x the price. You gave realistic expectations for the money and if it's worth the cost. I'm not a runner. I don't really care about GPS, or heart rate. The features that attract me are basically not having to carry my cell phone all the time. I like the watch, being able to tell time, helping me meet the schedule of my day, some of the other features that give remote access to my cell phone, like shutter control, call rejection, notifications, etc. As a sports watch it will track my steps. Everything else is gravy. You made it clear this is a great bargain for me. Thanks.

Thanks for this review. My old school digital Timex watch (with Indiglo!) broke in Feb (well the strap broke.) Saw this for just $7 more than a replacement for the Timex and the new school year is starting so I benefit from a watch while teaching. I'm starting a fitness push right now too. So I went for it and I'll update here after I've used it a few weeks.

    • @markfritzel5993

Having worn this watch since about 4pm today (8 hours) I feel that a few of its main features are oversold. What it does well: tells time, good pedometer, looks good (or at least okay), good stopwatch/timer, basic weather forecast. What doesn't work OR takes longer to set up than I would have guessed: GPS, finding sports beyond walking/running/cycling (update: I found them), answering phone calls, music remote. Basic setup was also quite annoying because it wants to do a firmware update and your phone screen has to stay on. I recommend you change your setting so that it takes at least 5 minutes for your phone's screen to turn off.
Battery life is also good. It was mostly charged when I received it, and it overtly warns you when you select features that drain the battery faster. Having worn it for about 6 hours (and explored the watch quite a lot on my first day), it still says 98% charged. Which seems like it can't be right but hopefully it is. It was preset at a dim brightness which I never noticed as not bright enough (so far.) And the default is to turn the screen off until you raise your wrist, but you can change this in the settings so that it's always on or on for a certain range of hours.
BUT even all that said, I am very happy with this watch so far. The price was great. (Like I said just $7 plus tax more than the simple old school digital Timex I wanted--which had a price increase of $17 since the last time I bought it 2.5 years ago.)
I'm going to keep trying to set up those items that frustrated me the first time around. Hopefully a couple of them will work, but my suspicion is that some of them were overhyped and undercooked on purpose.

At one point I was about 400 lbs, I lost about 200lbs dieting and exercising. This was about eight years ago. I have been on/off the wagon for a while. I am currently about 300lbs. Probably about 5 to 6 years ago I bought a Garmin vivoactive 3. Right now, the battery is virtually dead, a charge will only last about a day. These last 2 -3 years I have been very sedentary. My mobility sucks, About a month ago I started to do stretches, some light cardio, and some light resistance training at home. I didn't have much money either.
The biggest metrics I am concerned about is, stress, sleep, and heart rate. For someone who is broke, and getting back into things, this watch is a great option.

Thanks for the very informative video. You verified my choice was OK for me. I was looking for a budget smart/fitness watch that was also a fairly good quality device. It needed to have a good-very good quality supporting smart phone application that wasn't a pain to access or use. Zepp met that need. I am not a hard core runner or biking enthusiast but at 73 years old I am fairly active with 4+ gym days (actually working out not sitting around) and walking 1-2 miles 6-7 days a week. For my needs the Amazfit Bip 3 checks all the boxes for now. I seriously doubt that I will upgrade to a more premium device with a more advanced feature set.

Got one of the 3 Pro as a gift. Your video was a life saver as it came with a minimalist manual that only told how to charge it. Gave no instructions as to whether to peel off the plastic protective cover on the screen or not. I say yes, my wife says "No its there to keep it from breaking." But i cant read it thru the plastic. Your video at least told me how to turn it on and how long the battery took to charge....which should have been in the instruction manual (print so small I couldnt read it) Thank you for at least telling me what it can do.

My first was a MiBand 2, I went on a 40km hike with it and almost the whole way I couldn't see anything on the display because the sun was shining. At the time, I said to myself that I didn't want any (AMO) LED technology on the watch. Today I have a Garmin Instinct Solar (for now) and they have the most visible display of any watch I know. Although the EPIX 2 is tempting, I don't believe it will be without problems in direct sunlight.

this was a great video for my purposes because I'm 77 and couldn't even find most of the items I was used to seeing on the Amazfit Band 5 (which I like but I wanted a larger screen size and a buckled band).
My husband and I walk/hike only, and I use an app for distance and a map of sorts, so I won't need this to duplicate in any way.
I was intrigued with the camera remote, finally figured that out. (my Samsung Note 9 wand does not work on remote anymore, not sure why, so this feature will be helpful).
I love the feature on my Band 5 for Find the Phone. I told my husband for the $30 he paid for it, well worth it because I constantly put my phone down in the house then can't remember where I left it. That was the 1st thing I had to figure out when using this new Pro. It was difficult to find the More button, I had to watch the video a few times in order to see the sequence of getting there!! (remember, I'm 77)
So for the extra face size, buckled band and camera remote, I suppose Bip 3 Pro is worth the extra to us (well it was a gift to me, so I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth)!!!
Thank you very much for your efforts, I basically needed to see where things were and how to access them. There is way too much on the actual device for me to use, but I appreciate the low cost for even those things I use. (I do miss my cute screen from the Band 5 with the blinking lights, maybe someday one will come out for the Bit 3 Pro)

I recently got both the Bip U Pro and Bip 3 Pro to see which one was better for my needs. Based on just over a week of using both it's almost a draw, in terms of what I need from a fitness watch, especially distance, route, pace and HR. Functionality is also very similar between the two. While I like the Bip 3 Pro slightly more, either would be fine for my needs, assuming that it proves to be reliable over the long term.
As for whether either would be suitable for a fitness enthusiast, my guess is that if you work out to get and stay in shape but aren't especially competitive and don't have pretty lofty goals, and it's basically about overall aerobic fitness, then either would be fine for you. It's more serious athletes, both amateur or pro, who should probably looking at more capable and expensive watches.
I'm in the former camp so I'll probably go with the Bip 3 Pro, but were I training for say a sub-3 marathon, an ultramarathon, or an under 18 minute 5k, I'd spend a bit more and get something more substantial. But this is not a toy by any means and should probably be just fine for most people just looking for a fitness watch.

hi there, i would like to ask abt how's yr experience with the app (Zepp) when using it?

    • @kovie9162
      @kovie9162 ปีที่แล้ว

@@eminen6564 It's ok, not as full-featured as apps you have to buy but gets the job done, fairly easy to navigate and seems reliable. But I'm not a fitness app power user and just need the basics, distance covered, average pace, HR stats, etc.
My main gripe right now is that lately my Bip 3 Pro (I kept it and returned the U Pro) doesn't record the first part of my run. The total distance and pace still appear to be ok, but the first half mile to mile often don't show up in the route covered.
Given that this watch supposedly had multiple GPS circuits in it, that seems kind of odd. Perhaps there have been issues with GPS systems lately, plus it's been overcast a lot so maybe GPS connections are spotty.

I enjoyed your review of the Amazfit Bio 3 Pro. I may have missed your talking about the recording of one's steps. I have found this watch to record about HALF the number of steps that are recorded with my Fitbit watch. I wore both the watches and compared the results after several hours. Fitbit's number was in the 8000's while the Amazfit was in the 4000's. That's terrible, as is the inaccurate heart rate info. Those are big deals for most people, in my opinion.

It should work for me as not a hardcore athlete and if I need to go camping or hiking I would take my Casio ProTrek analog watch. I'll do a video on my watch collection soon on my channel.

this would be great (gift) for someone who just wants a colourful lcd screen smartwatch with super battery without much regard to its fitness/gps capabilities/accuracy (casual) and dont want to spend a ton of money for an apple watch. Just like what you mention in the video , a 'bang for your buck' gift . Great informational vid man.

Thanks for the review. I'm waiting for my pro version to come in. I use mine for walking/steps tracking. I am not a pro athlete. LOL This will be an upgrade for me. I have worn and used the Band 5 for almost two years. I have been happy with my Amazfit band. My band 5 still looks like new and I am not easy on jewelry by no means. It has functioned well. Accuracy is not perfect but it is good enough for my needs.

Just received the Pro 3 for Fathers Day gift after not having a watch for a couple years. Had a more expensive iWatch that got destroyed and did not want to spend $400+ for a new one. I believe this one will do everything I will need in a fitness watch (74 year old that walks and gardens) and If it gets destroyed along the way it won't break me to replace it! Appreciated your review of the watch!

While I'm late to the comment section and only ended up watching because I found an Amazfit Bip A1608 in my junk drawer, I think the 3 Pro is a must buy if you're not collecting any data now and you don't have the funds for something else. But I'm a data dude, with my 3x5 card in the gym and a spreadsheet for that at home. My choice if you're on a budget is the original Garmin Instinct which can be had for cheap. The one I have is the eSports model that gets a lot of hate, but it actually has more features than the others. And btw, the Bip I found in my junk drawer is so old it has an epaper display. It's the Chinese version of the Pebble 2. Thanks for the video.

You don't need GPS to track steps/distance throughout the day. Only for tracking runs or rides when you want to see a track of your activity after the fact.

This was helpful. Can you put a different strap on it? I have a FitBit now, I have no idea what one it is. I walk between 18,000- 23,000 steps a day and prior to the strap breaking 2days ago the strap would by the end of the day the strap would be extremely irritating to my skin. I am ready for a new watch and I kinda like what I have even though it has some serious issues. To start it frequently tells me I should be dead. Or at least I presume that when it says my heart rate is 205, 272, 307bpm that I should be dead. It only tells me this when I am standing or sitting. I know this was kinda rambling, sorry. Will the watch save the info to tell the phone later? I am not allowed to carry my phone while working.
    This was really helpful, thanks.

ONE OF THE BEST SMART WATCH REVIEWS OUT THERE!!!! COMPREHENSIVE!!!!🌟

  • @CementSeason
    @CementSeason ปีที่แล้ว

*Pro version: If I have a stopwatch or countdown timer running I can't access any other screen or function. Even old school watches can do that - seriously, what is up.
*Needing to pay for most additional watch faces is insulting and the free ones are terrible.
*The user interface \ settings menus on the watch and smartphone app are incredibly unintuitive and I'm a nerd (I love complex systems).

This $69 device offers 95% of the same features as my $140 Fitbit charge 6 (yearly subscription not included)
The only thing my Fitbit has over this amazfit is that I can take an ECG reading whenever I want, which is great. But where the amazfit wins is that you can take an sp02 reading whenever you want, unlike my Fitbit. The Fitbit will only take an sp02 reading as you’re sleeping

They could have made the screen better viewable in the sun. A tiny light sensor, and a reflective backing. as soon as sunlight hits the light sensor it changes the screens contrast so that the sun can easily go through to the reflective backing. I had a windows phone that had a display that did this, and it was by far the easiest phone that didn't have an OLED screen to see in the sunlight. It also helped with battery life as when in the sun it didn't have to use the backlight of the screen.

Great review! I got this for Christmas to replace a Xiaomi Mi Band 5, and while I love the features and the legibility of the Bip 3 display, the lagginess of the lift-to-wake sensitivity is _enraging_. In your opinion, is this lagginess inherent in fitness trackers without a built-in gyroscope? Wondering what to look for in a new tracker should I opt to replace this one as well.
