What someone needs to make is a chisel shroud for this to duct to a dust extractor.
Was semi considering getting one of these, but after this review I'm thinking some cash and a box of beers to old mate with a 3D Printer and we're golden.

I've used the Makita. Better than this, but not amazing. I never got around to trying them, but the Dewalt or Bosch telescopics seemed like the best option. They're much lighter, but obviously need a separate vac. Separate vac is better as you can use a small vac on your belt or a big vac if you're doing lots of work.

Honestly I reckon a hollow bit plus a small vacuum on a shoulder strap (like the DeWalt one) would be the best solution. It would have its own issues but would actually remove all the dust and not need emptying every minute

@BoltahDownunder my solution was to use the Milwaukee backpack vac. But it was a bit disappointing, too. Only takes ~320g of dust before the flow rate has halved. 30% of all dust that goes in ends up in the filter. I've modded it to have a basic cyclone and got it to 3%, but it's still not great.

All them on board dust extractors are not that great. The dewalt one for the 273 sucks, installing it onto the tool is painful, the depth adjustment isn’t great. Hollow bits and an extractor is best, I use the small 18v Metabo vac and big 36v m class Metabo extractor

I bought their M12 HammerVac from Amazon for $60. The product listing was vague so I wasn’t sure what I would actually get, but I got a universal vacuum that attaches to any round drill.
So it easily attached to my Kobalt SDS drill but I had to 3D print a bracket for it to attach to my M12 Fuel drill.
I’ve only used it a little bit for small holes. It’s actually really nice to drill holes in wood and drywall around the house and not leave any dust around.
It doesn’t have that nifty automatic filter smacking feature. It has a mechanical button that performs a single smack.
Overall, totally worth the $60 I paid :)

Yeah Universal fit one looks like a good little accessory, depending on how this test goes I might try that one too. But for $60, yeah can't go wrong!

Bosch's GDE18V-12N dust extractor for their 22mm hammer was designed & implemented so much better.

Absolutely amazing content.👍 It would be great to see some of makitas' next generation rotary hammers (HR007G , HR008G and HR0010G) tested with their on bord vac attachments because they use the oversized motor fan on the tool for the vacuuming which should save wight and eliminates the need for a second motor if they actually work they could be better than Milwaukees all in one unit for most things.

That container and filter are tiny compared to other ones. What the hell is all that other space used for?

@BoltahDownunder I commented too early. Your conclusion pretty much said the same thing

I'm tempted to crack it open and see, but I think it has a full sized vacuum going on in there, like their little fuel box vacuum. It actually has amazing suction so I guess Milwaukee went for Airflow rather than capacity

Does the tapper keep running after the vac stops? If it only taps while the vac is running, then it'll do SFA. Any dust knocked off is just going to be instantly sucked back into the filter.

    • @BoltahDownunder
      @BoltahDownunder  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

It only taps a few seconds after the suction stops

@@BoltahDownunder better than nothing, I guess. Ideal would be a blast of back pressure, but that's harder/larger/pricier.

Good vid as always refreshing to see a honest reviewer unlike Vince who has done some VERY questionable videos in the past

Cheers mate! I wasn't trying to rag on Vince with that clip though, it just stuck in my mind from 2 years ago when I saw it

I'm not a fan of VCG (I've clicked DO NOT RECOMMEND several times on his thumbnails), but this is more the rep. They're probably aware of this devices flaws and would limit how much time each person used it for. Looks like they forgot to clean it out between users and has to BS an excuse.
