The fact that an almost 20 year old game, is not only capable of having more realistic smoke, better car damage models, better sense of speed and danger of that speed, sounds, mechanics and even the handling of the cars, even if a bit exagerated are accurate to what they need to be, your car is grippy and faster on the road, but as soon as you touch a bit of grass or dirt, you slow down quite a lot and lose control easily, it feels real and satisfying to handle a car properly in this game. Just goes to show how much recent car centered videogames have walked backwards, these games may be almost over 20 years old yet they feel much better and are much better than recent one from Gran Turismo, Forza or even NFS itself, it's sad really.
There is one detail I noticed about Nate Denver's cutscene in Nevada, the announcer says it's a 67 Goat, when it's actually a 65, which tells me a 67 GTO was planned at one point but later for some reason was swapped out for a 65
Mechanical damage reduces the transmission power by (x1.5) depending on the impact angle and force, so the more you hit the car you will lose torque (acceleration)
I dont know why but the atmosphere this game haves satisfies me a lot,the event vibe with the people all around and the buildings in the distance lools so beautiful and familiar to me.
One of the few racing games that gives you a sense of speed UPON ACCELERATION. Most games would only give you that feeling once you've reach a certain speed. Prostreet gives it to you by simply accelerating too fast and I love it. Also imagine having NASCAR drafting tech like bump drafting and side drafting on speed events, that would be really cool!
you should have included the mirror dangle i love the way the mirror just hangs on when you have light side damage XD love your content how did you get all dlc cars ??
Another detail: If you total your car, look at the front wheels. One of it will always have visibly more camber than the other one because you broke your axle.
this is my favorite need for speed, it's just kinda perfect, you have to be really responsible with the purchase you make to modify your car, you have to brake in corners and the sense of speed is so good, the hood camera is really good, i like how it moves and it's like a pov of the driver, it's like the one in nfs ug2, and the hood camera is my favorite camera when it comes to racing games, makes me feel fast, and indeed make me fast since i don't have to worry about the back of my car, the engine sounds are so good, and most of my favorite cars are there. it's not like any other need for speed, and also the damage shown in cars after you crash is just perfect, and it's not really common to see it in a game, since car manufacturers don't like seeing their cars get damaged, you have to use the nitro wisely in drag and circuits, like nfs underground. And of course the announcer is what makes this game not boring. now THIS is real racing, it's like a mashup of need for speed and gran turismo. and i really like both games it's just so good man, i love it
My favorite part of the game is the effect of the music playing from the game speakers in the open space instead of just being overlaid on the game. I have not seen this in other games.
I was 13 when PS came out, and I absolutely loved it. Back then every idiot hated it for not being an street ricer game and bashed on it. Nowadays everyone is "nostalgic" and suddenly loves it. Maybe because they pushed way to hard on EA to make shit Fast and Furious game that the entire franchise became shit.
Same thing with NFS The Run. Like back in 2011 everyone hated that game because it wasn't open-world or it wasn't another NFS Underground or Most Wanted. Now it is considered "the most underrated NFS".
The children that hated this game finally grew up and when they look back at this game and they see that in fact was a masterpiece, believe me I hated this game but now that I grew up I think it's one of my top 5 most liked nfs.
the Sounds and Details are way more realistic then every GranTurismo till now. Even GT7 gameplay sounds like a ps2 game fake vacuum robotic sound in every car near the same. Don't even match with the real car models sound.
ProStreet is definitely one of my favourites. A special place in my heart. Love the cars, the free and amazing visual tuning, the art style - everything from the menus, the racing days’ decorations to the stunningly cool way in-game cars are styled. So inspiring. The atmosphere, yes, AND THE MUSIC. 🖤
Playing with a steering wheel(no assists goes without saying either way, keyboard, controller or wheel) made me realise this even further, this game is a pure simcade leaning heavily towards Sim physics. The physics of this game(only visible through hood or 1st person camera though) are basically a Gran Turismo clone IMO. The steering wheel controller breaks the steering angle lock experienced through keyboard or controller gameplay. The Civic can never defeat understeer without a wheel for example, but when you connect a 900° logitech wheel or somethig, you can turn and screech, oversteer an FF car, it's a completely different experience. I also feel bad about the fact that this game(like all other NFS games following nfsu2) doesn't have a replay race video option. Only playing in split screen showcases the gran-turismo-like physics properly. I suggest everyone to try playing a speed challenge with a steering wheel. It is a blast😊
Duuuuuuude, even the Redlines for each car is different. So I'm guessing the rx7 and rx8 actually rev up to 9000 in this one. In Heat they just neglected that and gave almost every car the same generic Redline
What a beautiful game, I remember using the Supra in drag race and doing a wheelie from start to finish. If only the bosses were harder... especially Ryo
@@HeroManNick132 The Run had a weird damage model. On cheap sports cars it was nicely done but you will never ever have anything but scratches on, for example, Aventador
High spec cars, when you try to accelerate in a high gear but at low revs, play a strained/lugging engine sound while they pick up speed. Forced induction methods have different functionality. Turbos spool to full boost after a fixed time; roots superchargers have instant boost but lose torque at high RPM; twin-screw have instant boost and lose less or even no boost, unlike roots; centrifugal build up boost over the RPM range until reaching the redline. Gear shifting sound in bumper/bonnet cam. Suspension creaking sound on some cars when being compressed and extended.

That smoke/dust is one of most realistic generated effects in the games overall. Quality of particles could be improved, but overall, rotation of tire and generating rotating dust around it looks awesome. Dont recall any other game with it. I had one issue with the game - disapearing body parts, specially exhaust on every race.
never a big fan of this game when i was a kid because no free roam or some sandbox mode where i can costumize any car for free, but playing this game back at 2018 made me realise how good this game is, this game has its own unique soul into it just like any other nfs series but this one's on top for me for sure
It took me good amount of time to realize EA is not only reason behind NFS downfall but also nostalgia tripped UG and MW fanboys who still keep pressurizing EA to make MW oriented game at shortest time just to complain about it again. This game is amazing for its age and probably best NFS for me because of all diversity it had. Maybe if it got more love because it wasn't Most Wanted 2 people cum about, NFS could had continued with BlackBox till this day.

underrated comment
Another detail: If you total your car, look at the front wheels. One of it will always have visibly more camber than the other one because you broke your axle.
i always felt like the sound of the car depends on the exhausts too, but ive never really looked into that
this is my favorite need for speed, it's just kinda perfect, you have to be really responsible with the purchase you make to modify your car, you have to brake in corners and the sense of speed is so good, the hood camera is really good, i like how it moves and it's like a pov of the driver, it's like the one in nfs ug2, and the hood camera is my favorite camera when it comes to racing games, makes me feel fast, and indeed make me fast since i don't have to worry about the back of my car, the engine sounds are so good, and most of my favorite cars are there. it's not like any other need for speed, and also the damage shown in cars after you crash is just perfect, and it's not really common to see it in a game, since car manufacturers don't like seeing their cars get damaged, you have to use the nitro wisely in drag and circuits, like nfs underground. And of course the announcer is what makes this game not boring.
now THIS is real racing, it's like a mashup of need for speed and gran turismo. and i really like both games
it's just so good man, i love it
This game doesn't even feel like it was released in 2007
If there’s any modders that can add an Interior view. THAT WOULD BE AMAZING/Terrifying
We'd need to forward-port/remake the driver models from HP2 first into this game for it to even look somewhat decent.
Like nfs shift. That shit was terrifying. Imagine VR....
Imagine this game has a rally event, those dust effect will be perfect fit for it
The car sounds are so much better than newer Forza and NFS games
Dude bruh what after prostreet every single nfs game had really good car sounds🤦♂️. even the wrost game the nfs payback had really good car sounds.
My favorite part of the game is the effect of the music playing from the game speakers in the open space instead of just being overlaid on the game. I have not seen this in other games.
I remember the tire smoke being a big deal when this game came out. They even had a whole pre release trailer talking about it if I remember
When they launched nfs on steam I wanted this need for speed not undercover or the new most wanted. I want the old legends back
NFS prostreet and undercover have the better damage details compared to newer NFS titles
but nowdays it isn't EA's fault. The car manufacturers don't like their cars being shown completely broken anymore.
That sense of speed was amazing back when this game came out and it still is! The car actually felt that it was going fast
the Sounds and Details are way more realistic then every GranTurismo till now.
When love was put into the series over money.
My favorite thing about this game is how the cars felt like they PULLED you along. They felt potent and dangerous.
I would pay big cash to go to an IRL Race day. Just spectating must be amazing
This game has such a vibe that I haven't really seen any other racing game hit, even all these years later
Having John Hindhaugh and Jarod Denda REALLY helped with the atmosphere.
The civic sounds so good in this game, idk why the franchise took a turn for the worse for a while, i love this game
NFS Prostreet - actual game!
2:34 sound BMW M3 GTR
Duuuuuuude, even the Redlines for each car is different. So I'm guessing the rx7 and rx8 actually rev up to 9000 in this one. In Heat they just neglected that and gave almost every car the same generic Redline
The shaking makes it look like the Cars Movie
This is the GTA IV of NFS
Damn, bro, nice video editing. Hope, you'll have enough "power" to continue your TH-cam career 😘
The speed races were exhilarating, yet terrifying. I loved this game
+ Straight cut gears transmission sound, and turbo sound
Lose all my career progress in this game just a few minutes ago :(

This is another chance to play it again, and start hating Ryo once more

What a beautiful game, I remember using the Supra in drag race and doing a wheelie from start to finish. If only the bosses were harder... especially Ryo
Nfs prostreet, shift series and most wanted 2012 still have the best damage model in the whole franchise.
NFS Undercover, The Run: Are we joke to you?
What does NFS Prostreet, DiRT 2-5, Driven to Destruction, and the Forza Horizon series all have in common?
Sharing my absolute favorite type of racing game atmosphere: _The Festival._
This game has the best *racing* game damage model, change my mind (beamngdrive doesnt count since its not a full racing game).
Now no one can tell me EA Black box weren’t ahead of their time. Let’s see what the new criterion games have to offer; apparently EA is boasting of their “superior physics and nuance details in gameplay”. They better be on par with pro street and shift 😒
Those guys brought us need for speed "Most wanted" 2012 i mean Criterion
That skyline sound tho 😮
Nfs prostreet clearly was ahead of its time. Imagine releasing it now with the newest graphics, i bet it would sell even more.
imagine NFS ProStreet with 1st person POV 🔥🔥🔥🔥
@Felipe M. yes
Imagine a crash with cockpit View......
I fkn love this game
and ur channel :)
btw, were u using the REDUX mod?
i've never seen this sense of speed in any other racing game , its so epic
That smoke/dust is one of most realistic generated effects in the games overall. Quality of particles could be improved, but overall, rotation of tire and generating rotating dust around it looks awesome. Dont recall any other game with it. I had one issue with the game - disapearing body parts, specially exhaust on every race.
Loved this game years ago, aged super well, want to play it again
The music in this game makes u wanna race so aggressive
never a big fan of this game when i was a kid because no free roam or some sandbox mode where i can costumize any car for free, but playing this game back at 2018 made me realise how good this game is, this game has its own unique soul into it just like any other nfs series but this one's on top for me for sure
It's crazy when you realise how much has changed since these games underground 2 was my favourite
Maybe if it got more love because it wasn't Most Wanted 2 people cum about, NFS could had continued with BlackBox till this day.
mind you, this was back in 2007 on PS2 graphics. Goes to show the level of dedication they had for the art
This reminded me why nfs prostreet is my favorite nfs
i have a reason to love this game since the interesting get back in 2014
this game deserves more name and fame like it supposed to in 2007
It is a good game! It just came out in the wrong time!
BTW: the car sounds in this games are better than all Gran Turismo games summed up together.
Someone needs to mod in a exterior view that lets you look around the car like they did with the rx7 on the gamespot demo.
i also heard they adjusted for differing atmospheric pressure depending on the elevation of the drag strip you were at
this is why i love NFS prostreet , one of my favorite NFS
I always loved pro street, man i hope there will be another one
