I don't understand all the hate for this car. Its called an economy car for a reason. Its not meant to be incredibly fast or stylish, its built for practicality.
People don't like it because of the old technology as far as suspension and overall feedback from the car; not to mention comfort. The Mazda3, Honda Civic, and Hyundai Elantra, Nissan Sentra, and the American compact cars have it beat in those areas.
MinnesotaChevy454 I dunno. There's a certain endearing charm with sticking to a simplistic approach.. Like, for example when the Viper was originally introduced, I remember it being criticized by some for it's bare bones layout. Compared to some of the more technologically advanced cars of the day, it looked positively old fashioned.. But the Viper was still a great car regardless. If it aint broke and all that.
MinnesotaChevy454 Elantra doesn't hold a candle to the corolla (atleast until the next elantra comes in 2015), same with the sentra and focus. The 3 and Civic? Absolutely.
My dad own one of these but in red Update: well 3 years later and now its mine Another update: well 5 ywars later and I passed it to my mom and now I own a 2004 Silverado Z71 and I'm much happier with that lol
I own a 2016 Corolla S Premium fully loaded with Navigation, Sunroof, Push Button Start, Paddle Shifters, softex leather seats, LED headlights, etc. It's a great car. I average over 37MPG, fill up with $20 and get 430 mile range. Insurance and maintenance is cheap. With Sport Mode engaged it's fast and fun. People hate but every year Corolla and Toyota are on consumers top lists. I see many old and new Corollas on the road everyday. There's a reason why these cars are the best selling in the world, 50 years and counting.
ELPJM09 would you recommend them in rebuilt title? There’s a 2014 silver Toyota Corolla S with 69k miles in 9k $ where I live, I haven’t seen in person but in the description it says it was hit in the back bumper nothing major
You all need to stop HATEING on corollas, they are beautiful, earth friendly, compact cars, yes it's not the most powerful cars on the world but you should be happy it can climb hills , it has a beautiful exterior and interior, it has a slick and slim design and looks amazing, I am absolutely in love with Toyota corollas, all years, please everyone like this car, it is quite nice indeed, but If you hate and don't buy it more for me :)
MajesticBadass what’s interesting is that the 2020 Corolla has shrunk in the rear space by about 5 inches. The 11th generation had. The most rear space but the 12th gen has the same space as the 10th gen
I'm seeing these ALL around my area... I honestly don't think I've ever seen a new car of any size, dominate in such a short period of times. Can't count how many of these I saw yesterday, especially the "S" model. Never thought I'd say this, but the new Corolla is actually a car I'd desire to own! It looks really nice in nearly every aspect, especially in this color and that electric blue. The only other car in the segment that's as visually appealing, is perhaps the Elantra and Mazda 3. But, neither offer the bulletproof reliability of the Corolla, so this car is the winner for me.
I have the 2014 S Plus and I absolutely love it! I did put a Borla exhaust on it because I could not stand how the original exhaust sounded like a lawnmower it sounds a hell of a lot better now!
It's good to know that a ton of luxury features have tricked down to the humble Corolla and are awaiting for me to enjoy someday...going strong on a '03 corolla not even 100k miles yet.
I just recently purchased the 2015 Corolla S and I can honestly say this is the best car ever. It has a VERY comfortable ride! Wouldn't mind going on road trips with it. Don't get me started with gas, I only fuel up once a week! Love this car!!
couldnt agree more key ignition is going away like manual transmission I can understand why some people are too lazy to drive a manual but you have NO excuse for being too lazy to turn a fckin key to start up your car
don't get why people hate this car so much .... and Toyota in general......... its a great looking car , modern looks and the interior looks fantastic so does the quality .....only douches and haters will hate this car and its make.....and this is coming from a muscle car guy
Thank-you for the review, Kyle! I test drove a 2014 LE when they first came here last fall. I actually loved it and the CVT felt great! Even better than the 4-speed that was in our 2010 CE. We've been Toyota loyalists for 11 years, and this is the best Corolla yet.
You seem the find every car I could ever want a review on haha From The cladded Chevy Avalanche, to the Bugatti Veyron to this particular Corolla haha As always you're the BEST reviewer. No one does a better "in depth" review. Thank you!
Excellent video. Very thorough and concise, without mincing words or droning on unnecessarily. You pay attention to aspects of the vehicle that most reviewers ignore, like the ergonomics or the real specific tech-specs. I've decided to get a Corolla after watching your vid!
I don't know a lot about the new corolla, but from where I'm standing, it looks like Toyota finally gave it some character. It seems like it has some more life. I, for once, can say I like the corolla
Why everyone complaining about power this car is meant for fuel economy and it is very good at. Toyota are bullet proof, my dad has a 99 corrola and that is his only car been running good for 16 years and has 200 k miles on it. The only thing my dad changed on the car was the shocks.
I have a 2006 Corolla and with 200,000 miles on it the only thing I have changed is the 12-volt battery, plus replacing regular worn-out things such as regular fluid changes, tires, wipers, brake pads, burned out light bulbs. Nothing has ever broken or stopped working other than that 12 volt battery, which failed at 150,000 miles during a cold spell (couldn't start the car in my driveway, so i bought a new battery at Walmart for $80.) Even with the old 4-speed auto, my car gets about 36 mpg on average (mostly highway driving), which is pretty good, better than most cars today. Meanwhile, my lady-friend bought a 2006 Mazda3 and she's had so many mechanical thing break down on it that I've lost count (new A/C compressor, new engine mount, new struts - all 4, new thermostat, etc.) Plus the rust on her car is just awful, with only 150,000 miles compared to my rust-free Corolla's 200,000 miles. So if you buy a Corolla you are buying FREEDOM FROM MAINTENANCE WORRIES, not sportiness or great handling. Its not all that bad, I still have a lot of fun driving my Corolla, but its true that its only about 90% much fun as the Mazda3. But the Mazda3 has only 70% of the quality of the Corolla, so to me the Corolla is the better long-term buy for people who plan to keep their car more than 6 years.
The humble Corolla has come so far. I have never owned any other car make / model, which is sad but happy at the same time. I am glad they have amp-ed it up without sacrificing its core affordability and reliability. 11th generation ... wow.
I remember how obsessively you maintained that first corolla in college, giving it oil changes long before the user manual recommended. And then that jackass who rear ended you at the end of a highway on ramp! I'm not surprised at all that you stuck with this model... They're one of the most practical and sensible cars out there.
Scott Garman Thanks bro those were some good memories. I definitely went overboard a little. I still do to some extent with the 2003 Corolla I currently own. Some old habits die hard. :) Ah yes that rear ending; happened in PA. Still made it to GA. I let that old faithful go as a donation, but forgot to remove the plates during towing. Then some fellow ran a toll booth in NJ and I had to disavow the plates. Sigh.
what happend to some new used car dealership start ups miss watching all your old videos the new reviews are super nice and high quality but lets bring some of the old stuff tricks to clean or common problems with different models. btw thanks for all the reviews and time you out in
For all those who are bashing the performance or comparing it to previous generations, don't knock it until you drive it. I rented a 2010 Corolla and it sucked out loud. Was slow and just boring. I drove a 2014 Corolla S at the car show and it was a totally different car. The current generation is eons above its predecessor and drives beautifully. Drive one and then comment, not the other way around.
I have a corolla on my channel! That corolla has a smart key access system and a push button ignition! Also, the corolla on my channel is a 6 speed! But the one on my channel is an a plus and the one on your channel is an S premium! Nice review as always!
I just came from watching a review on the Rolls Royce Ghost (for fun), and let me tell you, if feels good watching this and knowing I'm just an everyman like everybody else.
Just a little bit of advice- whenever you refer to something you said you often say "like I said" when it's actually "as I said" I know you're trying to polish your videos and that would definitely help. Other than that, continue your great videos.
A CVT with simulated gear shift and paddles and its limited to 111mph with a 150mph speedometer. I'm surprised a big aluminum wing and a Nos or StreetGlow sticker aren't optional.
Nice vid Kyle, as always. This car is bulletproof and will sell in droves. There are better performing cars at this price point, but with nice updated amenities and styling the Corolla will do well.
Toyota should make a sportier package over the S which should be 6-speed with more power and maybe RWD. Like an homage to the Sprinter Trueno/Levin/GTS
I know that the FRS is supposed to pay homage to the Trueno/Levin/GTS but I would like to see a real homage car because while the FRS is a great car, it doesnt have much in common with the 3. The Trueno/Levin/GTS was a great option to get on a corolla and that's what this one needs
I currently really thinking about getting this. At first I was looking at Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredos. And I found a really nice 2011. For about 11,000. But the more I look it seems it would be a very unreliable vehicle. While for the same price I could get a newer 2014-15-16 car. And it would be more reliable and better gas mileage. And it just my first car. And I personally think it looks very sporty. But I have come to realize how much I hate car shopping.
as soon as it said 132 hp I face Palmed so hard lmao. this car could have had even better sales with a lower stance and 170 hp and 150 pound feet torque
I sat in one of these when they first came out & they're surprisingly a lot roomier than my 2006 Corolla S was. One of my co-workers recently bought one of these but the LE version. This car has plenty of room for me & I'm over 6ft, but went with a 2015 Camry instead cause the Corolla isn't powerful enough for me plus I bought one with the V6.
I was just looking at the newest iteration of the Corolla sedan, and I had to come back here to see the outgoing generation (pre-refresh) to remember just how well Toyota nailed the design this time around. The new one looks great in hatchback form, even better in wagon form (which we won't be getting in the US), but the sedan is just all sorts of yuck. Toyota really nailed the formula for simple, reliable transport with this generation, and while the new one will sell just as well, I don't think they can top this outgoing generation again.
if you can Saabkyle please do a full in depth review of the 2014 honda civic coupe ex-l navi and the 2014 honda civic si! Thanks your video reviews are the best!
You know you're a butt hurt troll with nothing else to rag about, when your main gripe is the choice of buttons used to change the clock settings! How pathetic and retarded people are getting in the 21st century. At this rate, we'll be battling donkey's for intellectual supremacy in a few years!
Khemistry Oh no, it sure is a very reliable and trouble-free car. But what I'm talking is all about perceived quality. There is a reason you don't see these buttons on a Bimmer or a Mercedes anymore.
WhiteSlift Khemistry This is a toyota corolla.. this car cannot be compared to those at any level.. try comparing it to mazda 3, ford focus, honda civic, nissan sentra, etc... In my opinion... if it aint broke, dont fix it.. because i dont think anyone else minds having buttons to change the clock.. i mean really.. how complicated does it have to be..
my friend has a 2014 Toyota Corolla S. I have driven it and rode in it many times. I don't really like it very much. There is absolutely no steering feel, also, the steering wheel feels really small. The CVT isn't bad, I actually thought it was a 6 speed automatic. It feels pretty peppy, but is not fun to drive to me. The interior drives me insane. Almost every plastic panel has a different "grain" to it. The steering wheel has 3 for example. The door panels have like 4. I can't stand that. The sound system also seems artificial to me(?). The seats are nice, pretty comfortable in both front and back. The lights are very good, so is the ride quality. More of a Sunday cruiser than sports car. I drive a 99' Volkswagen New Beetle 2.slow with 155,000 miles and it feels sportier than this. If you're looking for a first car or just a comfortable cruiser, than the Corolla is great for you. My friend loves hers, it just isn't my type of car. That's my honest opinion, I haven't been I previous models, but I'm sure this is a huge step up in every aspect.
I have had this car for a year now . The first mistake was getting the technology package the gps is terrible here in Canada missing roads and the voice guidance is really bad... Went in to Toyota and asked them to update the maps and they wanted to charge me $400 I now use my phone exclusively. Also have regrets with the button start as it is Manuel so if you do happen to stall it there will be about a 3 or 4 second delay befor restarting I just think turning a key is much better. If I could go back I would just get the base model I just don't think the extras are worth the money
+Ross McKinnon Thanks for this writeup. I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on a lightly used 2014 but I wasn't sure if all the gadgets were worth it. Most cars with integrated GPS seem to suck, so thanks for the verification. I'm also considering the manual trans, so that bit about the push button start is something I will seriously consider now.
Just rented one of these for a road trip to miami, watch out in the back the armrest on the door is solid, so you want to be able to put your hand through a handle which isn't there.
FOR A BETTER COROLLA S, I suggest these improvements: - put in the larger engine and the 5-speed automatic from the RAV4. - Add a nicer blue color, something similar to the Subaru WRX blue.
I have a Corolla 2016 S Plus and I fucking love it :3 Since I wasn't able to afford a Nissan 370z 2016 my second option was the Corolla so hehe Excellent car!
Loaded Corolla S costs 21.5K vs loaded Civic Si 4dr 24K. They both look bad but I rather have the Honda for its independent rear suspension better brakes handling and a much nicer engine with a limited slip front diff. Corolla is still a appliance with a new wrapper.
One thing I don't understand is why do all the gauges peg over on new cars when you start them? It bugs me to the point where if a car does it I simply will not drive it.
I like everything about the new Corolla except for one thing: the steering. I swear, the dashboard knobs have more resistance and feel than the steering wheel.
I need help!! I’m looking into a 2012 Toyota Corolla S with 142,000 miles for $8,500. It’s in good condition, but I’m worried about the miles since it’s so high for my first car. Should I take it????
I don't understand all the hate for this car. Its called an economy car for a reason. Its not meant to be incredibly fast or stylish, its built for practicality.
People don't like it because of the old technology as far as suspension and overall feedback from the car; not to mention comfort. The Mazda3, Honda Civic, and Hyundai Elantra, Nissan Sentra, and the American compact cars have it beat in those areas.

MinnesotaChevy454 This Toyota Corolla, in 4 years, will still be worth 70%+ of it's original value and none of those cars you mentioned will do that.
Jam Bro The 3 and Civic will hold 70-80% of their value easily. they already do right now without a doubt.
My dad own one of these but in red
Update: well 3 years later and now its mine
Another update: well 5 ywars later and I passed it to my mom and now I own a 2004 Silverado Z71 and I'm much happier with that lol
Nice
Cool my dad’s 2017 Camry is going to be mine
Love how you remembered to come back to this comment section haha
I honestly think the new Camry and Corolla are extremely sharp and good looking.
I own a 2016 Corolla S Premium fully loaded with Navigation, Sunroof, Push Button Start, Paddle Shifters, softex leather seats, LED headlights, etc. It's a great car. How well is the ride? Our Scion has a very unrefined ride.
$20 for a full tank of gas today is a pipe dream LOL

Wrong
Still good
I honestly like the civic’s looks better

You Lil B"tch you probably can't afford one of these new Corolla s models. Lol.!!!
Khemistry Lol your a funny guy. Dude I own two Toyota,s fool.!!!
I have the 2014 S Plus and I absolutely love it! I did put a Borla exhaust on it because I could not stand how the original exhaust sounded like a lawnmower it sounds a hell of a lot better now!

My family has the S Plus manual in red. The dealer informed us it is the only 2014 red stick shift corolla in the 5 gulf states.
God bless this car! It has a regular key instead of stupid piece of plastic and START button
Start button is optional actually haha
*****
i have been asking you to post the 2014 honda civic please. I am looking to buy one need more information with your research and help thank you.
couldnt agree more
key ignition is going away like manual transmission
I can understand why some people are too lazy to drive a manual but you have NO excuse for being too lazy to turn a fckin key to start up your car
LOL yes indeed nobody wants that start button garbage. Never understood the appeal
I agree completely buddy
Damn that high performance super aerodynamic 700+hp exhaust sounds amazing!
kma198199 you obviously can't notice sarcasm.
I Know right 😉
don't get why people hate this car so much .... and Toyota in general......... its a great looking car , modern looks and the interior looks fantastic so does the quality .....only douches and haters will hate this car and its make.....and this is coming from a muscle car guy
ironically 99% of them have never even driven or owned even the first geo prizm before. smh
Phillip Selorm But 80% of Geo Prizms still work
i hate the corolloa the camry is much better to me.
Toyota is an excellent car company. I have a 2006 Corolla Manual. It's friggin fun and gets great gas mileage.
If it was a ford people will love it
Thank-you for the review, Kyle! I test drove a 2014 LE when they first came here last fall. I actually loved it and the CVT felt great! Even better than the 4-speed that was in our 2010 CE. We've been Toyota loyalists for 11 years, and this is the best Corolla yet.

at least it looks way better than the previous gen corolla
Kevin Praditra i had a previous gen corolla 13 model sport and i think it looks better than the new corolla sport s today
14 year old and my dream car would be this safe and reliable corolla
what happend to some new used car dealership start ups miss watching all your old videos the new reviews are super nice and high quality but lets bring some of the old stuff tricks to clean or common problems with different models. btw thanks for all the reviews and time you out in
Lol this the best college car, nice and sporty but it's also one of the best in reliability

blue06lt Unfortunately some people just don’t understand that concept
I got the red sports Toyota Corolla 2016. Freaking love it, very easy to drive and waste less gas.
I like the sound of the Toyota Corolla s premium its absolutely epic
Nice review :) finally some Toyota's ^^ still got one question are you gonna so a Review on the new Toyota rav4?
Hey man your reviews are fantastic and very in depth.
I like the new design of the 2014 Corolla!
yay a finally a car a 21yo can afford im looking to buy one thanks for the review
I have a corolla on my channel! That corolla has a smart key access system and a push button ignition! Also, the corolla on my channel is a 6 speed! But the one on my channel is an a plus and the one on your channel is an S premium! Nice review as always!
Very nice. Can't help but notice how much the front end resembles the new tC. Makes sense though, since Toyota is the parent company
As a Mazda Miata lover/Porsche Gt3 lover I could say the Corolla is one cool car
I just came from watching a review on the Rolls Royce Ghost (for fun), and let me tell you, if feels good watching this and knowing I'm just an everyman like everybody else.
"Rice Toyota?" Seriously? They aren't even trying not to fit the stereotypes!
LOL I see what you did
Very informative! I loved every single bit of it! Keep up the awesome reviews!
Just a little bit of advice- whenever you refer to something you said you often say "like I said" when it's actually "as I said" I know you're trying to polish your videos and that would definitely help. Other than that, continue your great videos.

Walking distance from my house. Pretty sure I've rented that exact car ... LOL. Great review, dude!
It was indeed a rental! haha, thanks man!
Nice vid Kyle, as always. This car is bulletproof and will sell in droves. There are better performing cars at this price point, but with nice updated amenities and styling the Corolla will do well.
Great Video! Would love to see a review on the Hyundai Genesis :)
Toyota should make a sportier package over the S which should be 6-speed with more power and maybe RWD. Like an homage to the Sprinter Trueno/Levin/GTS
=FRS
I know that the FRS is supposed to pay homage to the Trueno/Levin/GTS but I would like to see a real homage car because while the FRS is a great car, it doesnt have much in common with the 3. The Trueno/Levin/GTS was a great option to get on a corolla and that's what this one needs
There should be an option for a corolla hatchback too.
RWD in a Corolla?! 😂
Damnit Toyota, bring back the XRS
Still a good first car for me to buy one Kyle.
Regarding Rear Brakes...Why do manufacturers still bother with drum brakes for the rear, is it a cost cutting measure? This is 2014 not 1940.
I got the 2018 corolla SE and the only thing that I hate is the dashboard and how the mpg goes up in increments of 20s.
thank you so much! I'm about to buy this car in silver!
Kyle your videos are awesome. If you can take, a test drive in mercedes benz s class and show the way it drives it self
I would appreciate if you do a in depth tour on the 2014 Toyota 4runner Limited. I would prefer to be the Limited model. Thanks
Beautiful dependable vehicle
Daytona*Beach how? I thought you might like Volkswagen better
I currently really thinking about getting this. At first I was looking at Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredos. And I found a really nice 2011. For about 11,000. Can't wait to get mine in March :D
Friend has that exact model. Drove 500ish miles from MD to Boston MA for pax in it. Nice car. Roomy for a small one.
It sounds good i might get a Corolla 2014 but i might change the door chime
I loved this new corolla. Unfortunately the price will be very expensive here in Brazil, because of the Brazilian's taxes and fees.
2 years ago the Toyota Corolla s premium was my dream car 🚘
as soon as it said 132 hp I face Palmed so hard lmao. this car could have had even better sales with a lower stance and 170 hp and 150 pound feet torque
Stance can be fix easy buy coilovers.
I'm not gonna lie, this 14 model was temping to buy.
But my 2000 has 180Kmi and runs stupid good, and gets 40mpg.
Two buttons for setting the clock hour and minute.
Did Toyota use the blueprints from 1992 for this car?
You know you're a butt hurt troll with nothing else to rag about, when your main gripe is the choice of buttons used to change the clock settings! How pathetic and retarded people are getting in the 21st century. At this rate, we'll be battling donkey's for intellectual supremacy in a few years!
Khemistry
Oh no, it sure is a very reliable and trouble-free car.
In my opinion... if it aint broke, dont fix it.. because i dont think anyone else minds having buttons to change the clock.. i mean really.. how complicated does it have to be..
saajp
The Civic doesn't have these buttons either though ;)
They have the same digital clock in the Camry as well. It does seem out of place, it's a touch of nostalgia they've had since 1980.....
my friend has a 2014 Toyota Corolla S.
The 1.8 liter engine in the Corolla has port injection, not direct injection.
I’m thinking of getting this car, but I don’t like the speedometer design. The LE one is better.
FOR A BETTER COROLLA S, I suggest these improvements:
- put in the larger engine and the 5-speed automatic from the RAV4.
- Add a nicer blue color, something similar to the Subaru WRX blue.
Lol like they would’ve listen to you 😂😂😂😂
Personally you can mod the hell out of these cars using TRD parts and there are secrets behind these corollas
Tell us da sekrats...
Nice review as always Kyle (*****)!
- Michael Land
looks much better than European Corolla from the same model year
Very nice car. Good review K-bomb.
Nice review. One thing though: Toyota could step up their key game
Key game? You are referring to push button start/key design?
I'm referring to the design of the key fob
nice review! as a suggestion, can you do the Audi S or RS6 Avant? ;)
The only thing im looking forward to from toyota is probably the FT1. I own a 97 tt supra myself and would love to buy a FT1 if they end up making it.
I think this is nicer than the old corolla
Thanks a lot for this depth review!!! :)
A manual transmission was for the ce trim the top of the line transmission was a continuely variable transmission plus I'm the Canadian car enthusiast
this car looks very nice
One thing I don't understand is why do all the gauges peg over on new cars when you start them? It bugs me to the point where if a car does it I simply will not drive it.
I like everything about the new Corolla except for one thing: the steering. I swear, the dashboard knobs have more resistance and feel than the steering wheel.
Interior looks good for a corolla.
can you please do a review on the 2014 honda accord sport with CTV transmission? please I'm thinking about getting one of it thanks
I need help!! I’m looking into a 2012 Toyota Corolla S with 142,000 miles for $8,500. It’s in good condition, but I’m worried about the miles since it’s so high for my first car. Should I take it????
hi kyle i realy love yyour style of reviweing
whould you please do the all new hyundai Genesis 2015>>>> would be great
Can you please do an indepth review of one of the corolla competitor such as the new elantra? Thanks!!
I have an old elantra video, but that will take time. I'm just one guy doing these videos. I'll do my best.
Saabkyle04 Nissan Sentra and as a personal request 2019 Nissan Altima
Holy wheel gap Batman!
ReggaeDubSoundSystem I own one of these. Believe I’m painfully aware of that wheel gap. I need to get some Eibach lowering springs for it 😂.
when will w222 s 600 ? I very much wait! for previously thank you so much!
Great video. Very nice car I'd drive it.sucks they should have made the s model with more hp at least 200hp.
Hey Saab could you do a 99 vw jetta vr6? thanks man!
Love your vids
I think the engine is a little too underpowered..
The All-New Corolla "Elevate Your Style."
Love my new 2014 Corolla S. Wouldn't want any other compact car, well maybe a fully loaded Mazda 3 would be sweet.
Which car is better?jaguar f type v8s,bmw m6 or nissan gtr track edition?
It was ugly in the picture until i saw in person it was gorgeous especially the black and red color
