My EDCs are also quite basic:
Phone, minimalist Wallet similar to Preston's, a waterproof cigarette case, cheap mart lighter, keys, and a pair of wired earphones.

I was thinking about this subject today.
An EDC aligned with modern needs and a classic approach. Im not sure why but a lot of brass colored items come to mind.
My take on the subject: slim wallet, tws earphones, knife(slim, small, singleblade and inexpensive), flashlight (lumintop nano in brass color is powerfull and tiny) hand sanitizer, small tissue package and finally a safary lamy pen.
My favorite thing about TGG is your take upon balance on items and colors. I decided most of my edc by looking at your content, not directly but using the balance mindset that you convey. Keep the good work TGG team!
A request of mine: How to dress like a gentleman will in very hot weather? Im aware of your video in such subject but that weather is concidered nice over here. Im talking 40°C+ kind of heat. I investigated a bit by looking desert related themes, but you either look arabic nomads or indina jones... not true wearability by today standards. I'll love to se TGG take on such hot weather conditions.
    Greetings from México!

Rule of thumb is, when it comes to extreme case and/or practicality, style goes out of the window.

I'm from the Philippines and if there's anything we have in common it'd be venomously hot and humid weather - maybe nastier here too. Personally I'd always wear pants when going out at any cost. Chinos, plain jeans, or even cargo pants are better than shorts for I've found that it keeps you shaded from the sun and keeps you from sweating like a pig - though I would not recommend sweating yourself in such weather in the first place. A T-shirt is fine, but I usually prefer button shirts with long sleeves, also keeps out the sun. Maybe you'd consider a pair of suspenders. They're not as constrictive as a belt and your waist will feel a lot lighter especially in hot weather. Me, I'd wear a hat. No good exposing your face to the sun now.

Two things I have always carried since 5th grade about 50 years ago: flashlight and pliers. I use both multiple times every day. Flashlights have evolved from small (and feeble) Cub Scout & Boy Scout pocket lights to modern LED torches with lithium batteries. During school years I carried a small pliers and my mother was always repairing pockets in my jeans. Nowadays Tim Leatherman provides outstanding very small multi-tools, which I keep on my keys.

    • @ClosertoBooks

I’m kind of in your direction… my key chain comes has a small flashlight, made in USA. Then a good multi-use pocket knife - I tend to go with Victorinox Swiss Army or Leatherman. I keep a small but strong magnet in the small pocket of my jeans. Clothing articles don’t count as EDC. And if my phone goes in my pocket, it’s on airplane mode - I don’t need the radiation right on my body. I keep a fountain pen as well.

A great place to write notes or stuff that are later transfered to my planner, as well as a backup list of my work hours and general doodling. An automatic pistol may have more capacity, but a gentleman would carry only a pocket revolver, such as a J-frame Smith&Wesson, or if you really want to go upmarket, a Korth. Not even a most expensive automatic pistol, like Laugo Alien, goes well with a suit - such a gun belongs on the range.

@@pyroparagon8945 Word of advice, know the difference between water proof and water resistant. My Citizen is good for "200m". Surprisingly, that is just the atmospheres it can withstand. Not water pressure per se. The manual puts it as suitable for skin diving and water surface sports, but not scuba. I found that interesting. Easy to damage your watch if you don't know these things.

My EDC is a bit more than just phone/wallet/keys... I'm a retired lawman so I always carry out of just more than force of habit... My holster & mag pouch are custom leathers, because if I'm going somewhere suit & tie, I want to make sure it matches. My wallet is also leather, but blocks RFID for security. That and my cell phone go in the inside pockets of my jacket. I have a few dress watches and those go in a leather watch case. When I have several items to bring along, I have a leather briefcase (also matches) for all that which is too large for a pocket. This also includes tech accessories like a battery bank, charge cord, and penlight. And when I get home, my pocket items - especially loose change - goes into my leather dump tray. Thanks for posting this, as I enjoy seeing how others organize their essentials!

Where do I keep that? Well watch at the wrist, ring at the finger (you imaginated that I guess). right front pocket - handkerchief, knive. left front pocket keys and Wiener Schachtel. the rest fits normaly in the jacket. I tend always to wear a jacket or at least a vest (waistcoat?)

I always carry a couple of pens and a notepad. One of the pens is always a fountain pen, which I vary (I have a bunch including some new ones and some vintage ones going as far back as a Sheaffer #2 BCHR I restored), and one is a ballpoint that I turned on my lathe. The notepad isn't anything fancy, but it is a Rhodia, which is very fountain pen friendly, which matters to me, and it fits in a shirt pocket. I also carry in my backpack my EDC lock pick set and a few locks to fidget with. Mostly lightweight ones that are small and fun to pick, like Master LOTO 410s, though I do have a 4 in 1 Sparrows Revolver training lock custom pinned to be more challenging.
Other than that it's the normal stuff: glasses, wallet, keys, iPhone 11 (vanilla). I do carry an inhaler in my backpack in case my asthma flares up, which thanks to all the wildfires this Spring it's been "fun." I also walk with a cane, so the good leg takes me everywhere. Oh, my current EDC watch is a circa 1980s stainless Movado Museum Classic that my father gave me.
