- On Friday people in Jacksonville came out to an event in Riverside, and many of them had one goal: find a place to live.
Affordable housing is the problem , fix one issue you fix many !

Amazing how much things can change in four years.
More and more people I see everyday that are sleeping outside that are without homes and it's sad families older people and it's absolutely sad that we live in a country where we got trillions to send to everybody else but we as taxpayers have to decide whether we want to pay rent or eat it's very sad😢 fix up these abandoned hotels in treat them as studios and there a lot of people that work hard but just can't afford rent turn these abandoned hotels in to studios there are a lot of hard-working people that will not only keep them up but pay no one absolutely NO ONE should be sleeping outside and hungry

Yes, no one actually helped my Friend with a serious injury. It grew worse and worse. They said OH WE HAVE A PLACE FOR YOU TO MOVE IN TO. WELL, SHORTLY AFTER SHE MOVED IN, THE WENT IN TO FORECLOSURE! WE SUED IN A COURT OF LAW AND WE WON!

Housing in Oregon average is 1800.00 a month for a shack, average social security is 700.00 to 1200.00 at age 62, many nurses and Veterans homeless. We the people under democracy is suffering.

I see one big corporate flush in Jacksonville. 🤷🏻♂️ I been here 2 years rented 3 places and lived in a hotel for a year it's crooked ASF down here. 10+ Jso officers arrested this year.. thats unheard of where im from.. and I'm from NY imagine that one.
What u guys don't know, they get money for the homeless, but they divert it for other things. And this is legal. All they have to say is we need a new fire station. Horrible situation.
They won't even help people like me with clean backgrounds and no drugs in their system. But they'll help these homeless people remain homeless. Isn't that something?

I recommend extended stay for the homeless who are employed, either way you're going to spend money being homeless. Why not spend it on your comfort, electoral of you have no children. I did it for the years with a teen and it was worth our comfort versus a shelter or encampment.

Yeah, but in some ways the system is set up to make people dependent. What I mean is that the system succeeds at giving away fish, but is terrible at enabling the willing to fish for themselves.
This is because the former is a lot easier to manage and doesn't require extensive commitment. It's hard to walk with people through their issues. It's a lot easier to just give them stuff.
And if you have a criminal record, it's a rap. Even though someone is willing to help themselves, they are forced to depend on the help of others because the system doesn't give second chances for certain crimes.
I feel this woman's pain. Not being able to maintain a job as a result of a criminal record, encourages recidivism.

Stop it, I had a Friend that I lost Her number for about 2 years. She was owned 1 & 1\2 years worth of Work mans Comp after She was injured. She doesn't have a record, & no substance abuse EVER! Her Doctor on the Job said She was ok, and to return to work. (I stepped in, I am a former EPA Super fund Contractor.) I know about all Government Programs. My Friends work for the GAO in Washington D.C. So what this Doctor did was crooked, He signed that My Friend wasn't injured at all on that Job. So I sent Her to my Doctor. Can you understand that HER ROTATER CUP WAS PRACTICALLY TORN OFF, NO ONE TOOK AN X-RAY! SHE'S OLDER, IN HER EARLY 60'S & I DON'T HAVE TO TELL YOU SHE WAS IN EXCRUCIATING PAIN. SHE WAS LATER WRONGLY TERMINATED. SHES SO DEFEATED, I CANT TELL YOU HOW SHE FELL THROUGH THE CRACKS! That Shelter that She was at DID NOTHING, they talked only to the crooked Company Doctor's Office. THEY ALSO CALLED HER L A Z Y AND THAT SHE WAS LYING! They tried to throw Her out because She was in too much pain, to attend Classes to learn how to wash Her Clothes! Unbelievable! These People have made a business out of Poor People. She is Black and everyone there called Her" washed up " and to start being a Hook** to get money! My Doctor got Her everything, back pay She sued and Won! She is buying a House.

So what if you don't like this, but it's the boldness that became the problem. The same happened with Gay rights. Once it became bold and forced into others faces, they fought back. Same thing applies here. Homeless people no longer sneak and hide, but set up camp right where everyone must deal with the sight. Society has learned you can help many off the streets and they wont do for themselves and end right back on the streets again. We are beginning to just not care at all. Build more smaller homes, not shelters. They need safe homes not rooms full of beds. Sad to say but she may be right if they die then the government saves money. The damn politicians will spend millions fighting to get elected, look what just a fraction of that money will do. The primary responsibility of housing falls on each individual. Government is under no obligation to house all its citizens. If it was, it would be in the Constitution. A huge unused safe warehouse or similar building is a great place to house folks temporarily. Permanent housing is always the more difficult and costly part and is done over time.
Makes no sense to go start all those wars overseas when we got people right here homeless veterans and homeless people in this country stop the endless wars and build public housing Affordable housing😮

Tents and people everywhere downtown. It is crazy this year for sure. I saw some homeless people try to fight but stupid officer did nothing when i reported it last year for the last tour de pain race.
