Sorry for the lack of content the past month. The Conditions have been poor and my fly fishing skills still need some work, so I haven’t had many video worthy days recently. Content will be more consistent in March when the temps start to rise again. Thank you all for watching!
Great video and looks like fun. I need to do more of this. If I may, a roll cast is your friend. You won't break your arm casting. If space permits, try a double haul. Its more difficult with a weighted nymph but worthwhile. Thanks for the video!! Tight Lines
Great video, I love relaxing fishing videos like this. I’m from PA, could you disclose the approximate area you were in by chance? I’m in southeast PA and I can have a hard time finding spots near me and usually have to drive a minimum of 1.5 hours to get to somewhere worthwhile, if you don’t want to disclose it’s all good I understand.
I prefer foggy, misty, spooky places here in PA...especially if it keeps the city dwellers away.......spooky is a state of mind. To me the cities are creepy not the woods. Good stuff man!
Nice video and nice scenery Thanks Old time backwoods New Englander fisherman here and some advice when traveling thru woods with a fishing pole is hold the pole backwards and low so you don’t get the rod caught in tree branches.
Although beautiful, with that fog, it wasn’t creepy, it was darn right scary! Good for you getting out this time of year. And you’re not a bad fisherman at all. Thanks for taking me along.
Nice job on the video and in a beautiful location. I enjoy fishing streams like that, in solitude. Can’t normally find that here in Berks County. You’ll enjoy the Orvis Clearwater setup. I have two.
I've walked 4 miles down a gated forest service road in the Northern part of Clearfield Co. Pennsylvania, just to fish a Class A wild trout stream. Barbless hooks for catch and release is how I roll. There is nothing and nobody around, and no cell service. The Mountain Laurel is very thick, and there are boulders that sometimes have rattlesnakes sunning themselves. There are also black bears and occasionally big bull elk which are normally not dangerous, but the potential is there. It can get spooky even in the late spring or early summer. I make sure I'm outta there well before dark. I always have a pistol, a water bottle, and a first aid kit. In my opinion, bug spray is not optional! There are lots of beautiful little trout that make it all worthwhile.
Pull a bunch of your fly line out of the reel and stretch it to straighten int out before you start fishing. It will be much easier to manage the slack that way.
Love to see people getting out on the remote small waters catching native fish! Keep your rod tip up higher when you hook up. I was taught how to fly fish by a guide with 40 years of experience, he told me this. Your arm should look like the statue of liberty holding the torch, that rod should be pretty damn near vertical when you are fighting a fish. You won't lose nearly as many fish with this technique. Also, learn to false cast less, pull out how much line you need plus a little more before you even begin casting, and only let your line hit the water when you are ready to fish it, if you miss your target spot, fish that cast, don't pull it out and cast again.
Great video - really appreciate you sharing a beautiful stream with wild brookies with us. I know when you go through the trouble of producing a vid you then have to deal with lots of advice…but I’ll throw in some more. From someone who fly fishes a lot: invest in a better fly line or put some treatment on yours, it shouldn’t kink up that much; go barbless, especially on those little wild fish, they get torn up from big ‘ol barbs; keep netted fish in the water for as long as possible, only a few seconds out of the water at a time. You’re doing really well for just starting!
Beautiful scenery and great fishing. For those natives, try pinching the barb down with forceps. Keep the fish in the net and simply remove the hook with the forceps without touching the fish. Thanks for the nice video.
Beautiful area. Looks like you’re casting with wrist most of the time. Try using your elbow instead and your casting will improve. Agree with others about not trying to get these small fish on the reel. Great job! Keep it up.
I used to do a lot up north of the state of pa where we're you again stream looks big compared to what I'm used to fishing the beginning of you video I couldn't hear where you we re fishing great footage love the area your in!
I was up in Sullivan county I don’t like to give the names because it upsets people, I’ve learned my lesson on previous videos lol thank you for watching!
As someone who has quite a bit of experience with a fly rod, I'd give you the advice of trying to play fish more without putting them on the reel. Unless you're hooked into something that'll require the drag system, it's easier to pin the line to the grip with your rod hand and maintain tension with your line hand.
Don’t be afraid to use small streamers for winter brookies!! Small water wild trout can’t afford to be picky with food, so I find they work great on wilderness streams on the western half of the state. Best of luck man!!
Hey I’m in Lackawanna 🔥 I subscribed bro ! We are always out in Allegheny national forest . You deserve so many more subscribers . This is excellent quality . My long format sucks . This is Great 🔥
Just a suggestion. Try stretching your flyline when you set up your rig. You will eliminate some of the memory in it, causing the loops around the reel. Great video
great video. sure is nice to be in a remote area with no flatlanders. work on your presentation, small streams you need to fish each cast and not keep false casting so much, the less waterswirls the better. no need to use your reel either just strip it in and keep the rodtip high. word of advice get yourself some better flyline that doesn't curl. and a color not as bright. keep working on it, your doing better and better each outing. thanx for the video.
Beautiful footage. Why bother putting lil brookies on the reel? Just strip lone and pull em in. Watched you lose a few when trying to reel in your slack.
You need to stop making getting line back on the reel so important, it isn't!. Concentrate on stripping the line back in to land your fish, leaving the slack off the reel. Also, try to keep your false casts off the water, you'll spook less trout.
Nice video. But you uploaded this one from winter 2019? So almost 6 years old..... I think you better let this babies alone in their hard winter survival.
How can that beautiful forest be scary?seriously.also there are no indigenous native trout at all in pennsylvania.closest specie you can find indigenous is a cut throat which is a fine fish native and indigenous to the state of pa.actuall a salmonoid as far as specie.if ya didn't know any better you would definitely think it's a trout.now there is water in pa that may allow trout spawn like the upper deleware river between ny and pa not indigenous however maybe best trout fishing on the east coast.

Love streams like this. Low hanging fruit.

Beautiful stream! Nice video!
Thanks man!
Nice video. Interesting to watch your transition from spin fishing to fly fishing. Many fishermen have followed that path.
I feel like you can only go so far with spin fishing while fly fishing has much more depth to it. Thank you for watching!
Thanks for the video. Missed you buddy!
It’s not like you reminded me every week lol

Pull out the line you need and stretch it between your hands. Gets out the coils@@ACupofJoe0303
Same...fishing the deep woods in counties like fulton, franklin and huntingdon in PA are great native experiences

Thank you man and I just purchased an orvis rod set up. 9ft 5wt Clearwater

Imagine being out on a flintlock hunt and watching someone talking to themselves and fishing.
I talk to myself all the time while I am fishing. Sometimes to the fish but usually myself.
@ in flintlock season we are silent
Warrior out there in December.Im in Southeast Pa and I’m always looking for new spots to try.Great video.
Thank you!

Thank you much appreciated
Sweet place to fish.
I can’t believe you walked right past that creature and didn’t see it.

@@ACupofJoe0303 You're right about not naming streams. No future in that. lol
That place is awesome.
Happy New Year! Like the channel and content. From southeast PA
Thank you and happy new year as well!
The fog was crazy this week! Nice content man, from the catskills here👍🏼
Thanks man!
It looks cold but it's a very nice place!

@ no doubt 🔥 I’m glad to find Pennsylvanians ! Uahahaha
Wow! Such a creepy forest
👊 i thought i was alone out doing these remote creepy pa. Back woods trips. Head on a swivel alone in the Pa mountains is no joke. Stsy safe, new sub.
Thanks, much appreciated. Stay safe out there too man.
carry everywhere
#658 glad I found you !!
Nice adventure
Congratulations CUP OF JOE on 500 subscribers 🎉
he’s gonna get famous and forget about us
I am us, silly

Thanks for the tip!
Use barbless on those fragile brooks - nice stream and fish !
The woods are safe then the city. I grew up with no phone in the woods. The only thing dangerous in the woods is your mind especially in PA
With your line coiling like that it’s cheap line if you get a higher quality line with less memory and coiling ability you will get better hook ups
I just got a whole new set up ordered. So next video I should be out with it.
What part of Sullivan County were you fishing?
No cell service my kinda place to be
Sasquatch wouldn't let you near the river in the deep woods 😂😂

Appreciate it man
How long have you fly fished?
Maybe 2 months😂
fishing with a fly rod and a 9mm especially in Pa. 😀
Beautiful footage. Why bother putting lil brookies on the reel? Just strip lone and pull em in. Watched you lose a few when trying to reel in your slack.
I’m trying to break away from spin casting so sometimes old habits kick in lol
Oh no not a haunted forest😮
I’m just here for the Sasquatch structures “X”
Am I the only one who is bothered by his line being twisted around his rod? Or is this some fly fishing secret? Still a nice spot to fish.
I appreciate seeing you lose a couple fish. Makes me remember that other people do it too!!!
What state are you fishing in
Pennsylvania
@ it’s looks beautiful but cold being I’m in South Carolina
Rock Run?
You need to stop making getting line back on the reel so important, it isn't!. Concentrate on stripping the line back in to land your fish, leaving the slack off the reel.
Also, try to keep your false casts off the water, you'll spook less trout.
Bro be careful. A lot of that land on each side of the creek is private. Guts get arrested where you are all the time.
I was up in the state game lands
Bigfoot beware, if you feel like your being watched
Get out
Nice video.
But you uploaded this one from winter 2019? So almost 6 years old.....
I think you better let this babies alone in their hard winter survival.
You do need practice. You lose a lot of fish just like I do.
That’s 2 wt water….
Dude, with fish that size, you don't need to get them on the reel. Just strip it in. You'll lose less fish.
Gotcha man
How can that beautiful forest be scary?seriously.also there are no indigenous native trout at all in pennsylvania.closest specie you can find indigenous is a cut throat which is a fine fish native and indigenous to the state of pa.actuall a salmonoid as far as specie.if ya didn't know any better you would definitely think it's a trout.now there is water in pa that may allow trout spawn like the upper deleware river between ny and pa not indigenous however maybe best trout fishing on the east coast.
You need to stretch your flyline before fishing it will deff make your casting improve
Nothing better then brookies 😉
You got that right and I know lol I gotta keep practicing
Quit worrying about the slack, they're tiny fish. And theyre in a tiny creek.
You really need to practice casting before trying to film
Your line looks crusty. Is why you're set is jank.
Fish barbless for natives
My purple prince was barbless but my other prince wasn’t. I thought it was
