Their evolution of/medley videos are phenomenal. It really shows off their appreciation for music, their understanding of music and of course their talent.

And, don't forget. All the "Evolution" series are one take wonders!!

Well, not exactly. None of them are put together with editing from several performances, but they do several uninterrupted performances of each of them straight through and then pick the best one to publish. Still an impressive feat.

The Queen arrangement here is slightly different then the whole song arrangement. Obviously its faster but although the parts are done by the same ones here, they really worked hard to give a very full sound in the whole song video. PTX worked on Bohemian Rhapsody for five years before they were confident enough to put it out! Brian May actually posted the full version on his Twitter & FB I believe, & just wrote "Enjoy!" No better response then that!

    Babytonix were fearless... 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

The Bohemian Rhapsody moment...yes they did it as their arrangement, just faster paced. Kirstie took that part of the "Mama Mia" and was standing on the couch with everyone behind the couch and behind her ( so visually the audience couldn't see them until the stepped out and joined Kirstie in the song), then Mitch ran to the front, jumped on the couch and did that high note only.

When I watched this the first time I was surprised they went all the way back to Gregorian Chants also....
They really know their music history and origins.
They are also very meticulous in arranging and performing music and filming their videos. Everything they do is intentional.
And all in one take.....Just wow. Who else does (or can do) this?

I really enjoyed your considered and enthusiastic reaction! I think Kevin and Avi (now Matt) deserve huge props for what they do on these evolution of medleys. It's so impressive! Also Ben Bram who has been PTX's arranger since they started is really the 6th member of Pentatonix and working with them does phenomenal arrangements only. I won't comment on the Bohemian Rhapsody moment as Gwenned has described it perfectly a couple of comments below!

All Pentatonix members have a say in arrangements. Ben puts what they come up with and his ideas on sheet music. They all work on the arrangement until it is as they want it to be.

@@vidsorama2Thank You! That's what I was going to say. You only have to watch the Evergreen doc to see everyone respecting each other's ideas & trying them until it's where they want it to be! Ben is fantastic but people should know that they ALL arrange everything & write their originals as well!

I bet when they finished and heard 'that's a wrap' they started screaming.

Please check out their original Sing. Kevin has a rap section where he claims the title of “human 808”. The man is superhuman!

They said in an interview that this was one of their hardest history videos they ever made. It took them a long time to arrange it.

Fun fact: ALL their Evolution videos are one take, live, continuous action singing! (And their 90's Dance Medley, a real banger!)

Yes, the arrangements of Mitch's and Kirstie's parts in their version of "Bohemian Rhapsody" appear to be identical to how they did it in "Evolution of Music." (I assume that's what you're referring to when you ask if it's the same arrangement - beyond those two parts I can't say; I don't have all their parts memorized. I do think that Scott was doing a bit more of the melody line in this than he did in this portion of their final "Bohemian Rhapsody" arrangement.) However, "Evolution of Music" was released in April of 2013 and "Bohemian Rhapsody" was released in August of 2017, about 4 years and 4 months later. I know that they'd been planning to cover "Bohemian Rhapsody" for several years before they decided they were ready to actually do it, but I don't know how early they began arranging it or how much the arrangement evolved over time.
Also, there are probably some minor differences due to transitioning between songs in "Evolution of Music"; that sort of compromise is a necessary part of arranging a medley.

And they do most of their videos one take...

This is different. They were recorded years apart.

A little more brevity and faster tempo...
