This is one of my favorite videos showcasing Big Bend. The area is awesome and you did a good job showcasing it. Black bears actually live more on the desert floor rather than the basin, this is due to water. There are more permanent springs, and the Rio on the desert floor vs the basin which doesn't do a great job of actually keeping all the rain it receives. You are probably more likely to see a bear in the Basin though due to the scale of the desert surrounding. Hope you can come back down and see a bear.
What an amazing experience. Beautiful place and such a creative and unique Airbnb. You always tell the most compelling stories on TH-cam. Great photos and videos as always ❤
@@wattswildlifephoto yes I’ve been watching you for a while and I’ve been so inspired to start my own wildlife photography. Please don’t ever stop posting 🤩🤩
If you find yourself willing to travel for amazing wildlife photography, you should really consider Chicago for it's bird wildlife. Yes Chicago. We are ridiculously spoiled with bird wildlife here. Everything from falcons, to hawks, to herons. I go out shooting birds almost daily and almost always come back with amazing photos.
@@wattswildlifephoto I’ve lived in Chicago for a few years now and have been surprised at the mostly year-long photo opportunities, albeit mostly for birds. Ducks and owls can be found in fall and winter, spring migration each May is great, summer brings grasslands and insect macro, and the cycle repeats. It’s pretty tough for mammals though
Great video as usual, and a very truly unique location! May I ask, when doing the video with the 500mm f4 mkii, did you use a tripod or do it handheld and stabilise in post? I’ve been seriously considering this lens to pair with the R5 and wondered what it was like on the video side, and how well it works with the IBIS?
Awesome video man! Big Bend is one of my favorite places to visit. Been successful at photographing black bear every time. Chisos Camp ground usually has black bear sightings and also Pine Canyon Trail but you need a 4x4 high vehicle to get to the trail. Good luck next time man!
Thank you! Wow that sounds like an incredible career. How cool! Yes I think you’d love the house! I covered as much as I could, but there are still details to explore that I just didn’t have time to go over. Definitely worth the trip to stay there.
I've been to Big Bend a number of times. The number of black bear there is relatively small (roughly 2-3 dozen). I have only once seen a mom and a cub, and they were actually outside of the Chisos.
Great video! I like how you show that wildlife photography in the South requires a lot of effort and often without reward. A lot of other photographers show only their successes making me often wonder what I am doing wrong.
Thank you! Yes it does… we definitely put in a lot of time in the field to get the shots we got. It doesn’t always pay off, but it’s worth it when it does!
Good video. The location of the airbnb is nice, but i personally think that a building that is more integrated into the ecosystem would be so much nicer than this massive building. greetings from europe
Great looking place Evan! Thanks for sharing it with me, but it's a bit too expensive for me. Great video and great images! Keep up the wonderful work!
Big Bend is one of my favorite National Parks that I have visited. Watching this video brought back a lot of memories from when I was camping and hiking out there in 2019. During that trip I was shooting with a Canon 6D with a kit lens and got shots that I thought at the time were pretty great for just learning photography. I was fortunate, or unfortunate depending on how you look at it, to walk up on a black bear and her two cubs while I was on my hike back on the Window Trail. No shots of them all but I've got a pretty good blured picture of Mama coming down the trail to see what I was doing while I was in a panic. I feel like 3 days is a great short trip for that place. You can easily spend an entire week out there exploring. Hope you have a checklist of new sights you want to explore next time you're down in Texas. The border crossing was closed when I was visiting so I didn't get the chance to go into Mexico. I've been thinking about taking a trip back out there and you have definitely reinvigorated it with this video. The AirBnB looks incredible. It definitely beats sleeping out in the August heat! I'll definitely forward that to one of my aviation friends. As for the name of the mountain there is so much history out there that you can pull from. The Jumanos are a Native Tribe that early settlers encountered and I think it would be appropriate to have a mountain named after them. I'll throw that into the bucket. I don't see a problem with naming Mt. Adam either. Lastly, I hope Prada Marfa didn't scar you too bad. Its kind of artsy over there.
I’m glad you enjoyed! It really is such a unique place. Cool experience with the bears! Thats the same trail we were on looking for them… we saw so much scat there. I could definitely go back and explore more, both in Big Bend and in surrounding parts of Texas. I’d love to catch the bluebonnet bloom in the areas where it really pops off, that would be amazing to see. It was a very nice house! Adam went above and beyond. The park was amazing, but even just staying at the house was worth the trip. Haha, Prada Marfa was definitely weird, but I came away relatively unscathed 😂
Dont feel bad, i live not too far from there and havent seen a bear yet in 25+ trips. Great vid and some beautiful pics. Next time there ill check on staying there and supporting adam. Thank you sir
Good to know! I knew there was a good chance we might not… they can be elusive in that park in seems. Thanks, I appreciate the kind words! I think you’d love it at Adam’s place.

Evan, This was one of my favorite videos you’ve done. This place would be Perfect for my 15yr old son and I to stay. I’m at photographer and he’s an aspiring pilot. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us. Beautiful photos and Great video as always……oh and how about “Aviation Peak” for Adams mountain 😊
Thank you! This sounds like the perfect place for the 2 of you… the best of both of your interests! Thats a fantastic name, and fits with the theme of the rest of the house. I’ll pass that on to Adam!
Great to see you in Texas, Adam. I live Northwest of San Antonio. Your photography was special (as usual) and I look forward to more of your coverage of the Greater Yellowstone Eco System.
Home Run! Loved the video! I love the southwest. I lived in the Prescott/Prescott Valley area of Arizona for 4 years back in the mid to late 90’s before moving to Missoula in 99. I never got to the border (closest I got was Tucson). One of my regrets is not going to Mexico when I lived out there.
Crazy footage as always bro 😊 I did a bit of Googling, and Those Javelinas are also called Peccaries, which sounded kinda familiar cuz I was in Costa Rica a few months ago and they are present there too, but unfortunately I find any there.
Javelina has a reputation for being temperamental, and have occasionally charged when protecting young. A year or two ago a hiker in AZ got their leg broke by one. The ones in the park are probably much more use to people.
Borders exist in every country across the world... they are protected and secured to keep the ones who mean to do harm from gaining entry! It affects wildlife yes, but the lack of also affects human life.
You should do shorts to help people find this amazing channel
Great video, the whitetail photo was definitely my favourite!

Fantastic photography and video.
Thank you 🙏
Some really beautiful images and video and I quite enjoyed your narration, you are growing into a wonderful storyteller. Have great time this summer.
Thank you for that, I really appreciate the feedback. Glad you are enjoying, and hope you’ve have a good summer as well.
Great video, Evan! My father flew the 727 for Eastern Airlines for over 25 years. And I live Big Bend. I’ll have to stay at the house.

I’m going to Big Bend this June just wandering if you know of any other species there besides what you saw

Great video Evan! I always enjoy visiting the wildlife and scenery of Big Bend. Human made-up stuff shouldn't interfere with the lives of animals.
Thanks Jorn! It’s an amazing park… and I totally agree.
Nice one
Thanks 🙏

You should have sought out the elusive Colima Warbler
Dude you were in my area! Weren’t the National parks you visited amazing?
They were! It was a great trip.
Big Bend is a great park. However, that Air BnB is exactly the problem the park has. Should be near Austin and not in the Big Bend country.
Javelina has a reputation for being temperamental, and have occasionally charged when protecting young. A year or two ago a hiker in AZ got their leg broke by one. The ones in the park are probably much more use to people.
Definitely… they are so comfortable with people in the park they paid us no attention.
Call that Peak........ Peak Aboo Peak 😂😂😂
Sorry, but this looked like an idiot idea for Air B&B for anything I would use.
