Things I like about your video - no artificial painted nails straight from the salon, no annoying background music, no unnecessary chit chat. Instead informative, easy to follow, pleasant voice speaking straight to us.
No one who matters cares about your finger nails, darlin. You’re talent, teaching abilities, and insights are what matter. And, of course, your sparkling personality. Many thanks.
Please, stop picking on your hands. I was brought up on a farmand miss it so much. Your hands Are a fact that many of us are aware of that now farm, work a garden, yard, lawn... You are one of the best of the best. 💜💜💜👌👌👍👍👍👍👍
Hey there Wyoming hard working lady! Great helpful tutorials! I graduated from Casper, WYO. My hands are hard working also and I like seeing real hands not painted up! I am on here just refreshing my memory on making the socks and came across your tutorials. How fun to hear you talk to us while you knit! Its like having a friend over to show you how to do this. I have never done fancy socks like yours and stick to mainly the ribbed and simple knit style. You have made me want to do a fancy sock next time!
I cannot wait to start making socks! I got some sock yarn for a steal and my husband treated me to proper knitting needles so hopefully with the help of your amazing videos I will be churning out socks for everyone I love! Thank you so much! I appreciate all your little tricks and suggestions but also your ease. I don’t feel pressured to make the perfect sock. I feel confident that if I just trust in your tutorial that I’ll have a beautiful sock when I’m through! Love those hardworking hands! We have a farm so I know! Bless you sweet lady! 💛
Yahoo. I just finished my first pair of socks and I've been knitting for 64 yrs. thank you so much for the easy to follow instructions. Between the printed pattern and your videos I was successful. Not perfect yet but close. Thank you, thank you
I see that these videos were posted several years ago. I am 81 and have several sock projects that have been sitting for years. I hope to finish them and many others before I depart this life. I hope you are still active and I can watch many more of your work. If I were younger I would move to WY. I will just stay here in E TX and dream about the West. PS my fingernails are perineally dirty too😂
You have become my absolutely favorite sock teacher! I love the way you did the heel flap and gusset and will continue to use this on future socks. Many thanks. Will look for you in future.
OMG! I did it. I made my first pair of toe up socks. Scrap wool yarn. Not enough so they became shorty socks. I watched these three videos several times... go... stop... go... stop. I'm hooked. I've always done cuff down, heavy 4ply hunting socks, but this is amazing. I kept trying them on as I went. Thank you. Thank you, . Thank you.
I love toe up socks but I've never done it as you do here. But now I will. You are a very good teacher. My first language is not English but I understand every thing you're saying.
Best sock tutorial I have seen! Yep. I'm a total beginner, but you didn't waste my time with a lot of extraneous stuff... you covered the basics beautifully and I could follow along with you very easily. Thanks
I’m finishing the leg of my first sock and this is the best fitting sock I have ever knit. Thank you! I will have to start with Part 1 to knit the second sock but I am really looking forward to it!
I’m so glad I found this tutorial series. I love my heel flap and gusset socks but have always knitted them cuff down. I wanted to try toe up and viewed many you tube videos. Yours is the only one detailed enough to follow. Please don’t feel you have to shorten your tutorials. I need all the details. And I am another Wyoming grown girl. Love it.
Great tutorial. I also have hard working hands so don’t stress over it. Thank you for detailing the thicker heel bottom. I have been searching for a tutorial on it for ages. It solves my sock problem for swollen ankles.
I’ve been putting off knitting socks for years. So glad I found your videos!! Not only have I made sock #1 & ready to make #2, I did it without a true pattern. Yes, I’m patting myself on the back. Yay! I’m a sock knitter now!!!
I also wanted to say I am so glad that you did it in regular sock yarn because I have watched videos of people who have done it in the bigger yearns and I'm trying to do it in a tiny sock yarn with tiny needles and not knowing how it's really supposed to look and so I appreciated that about your video that you now have a finished product that it will be similar to what I will finish when I get done with my sock and I appreciate that
"Real Life" and you apologize for the dirty digits!!! Hey girl, you're doing a great job and I'm learning so much from you. Keep going - I love your tutorials - they are "real life" ones :)
brilliant idea with having the heel flap start at the bottom of the foot.... adds strength and super confort. I would like to see a reg heel and gusset, two at a time video by you. This tutorial is one of the best I've seen. great job.
You have beautiful hands with character, they are real life hands, no plastic, that make every hand the same and without character. And I like farm work.
Yay Jana!!! This sock series is the best!!!! Made my first sock with such ease....you are such a wonderful teacher and videos are so clear and easy to follow!, Thank You!! Please keep them coming!
Thank you for doing this tutorial! Especially in real sock yarn. I have wondered about the EZ sewn bind off and how stretchy it would be, so watching you has been really helpful!
My hands look like yours !!! Thanks for keeping it real !!! You are a great teacher !! I have watched tons of tutorials, some many times and I love, love, love your pattern and way of customizing for the high instep. Thanks !!! It's so simple !!!
Podcasts are a fairly new discovery for me. I just came across this 3 part series of yours and have learned much. I've been knitting socks for a number of years, but am self taught and very limited in my skills and knowledge. With work and family duties, I don't have time to spend visiting my local yarn shops. Also, I don't know anyone else who knits, so I am alone in my craft. Podcasts, such as yours are of great help for me. Your customizable sock series has provided me with valuable knowledge. I am so grateful for crafter such as yourself who take the time to make these podcasts and share your knowledge. You are helping me to build my knowledge and skills. THANK YOU BTW, I am a registered nurse, constantly washing my hands with soaps that are damaging to my hands, then chores at home further ruin my hands. Your hands are beautiful
Thanks for your 3 Part Sock Tutorial. I found it very beneficial. You are a great instructor. You are only one of a few on here who will use sock yarn for your demo on socks. Love the EZ Bind off. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for giving your time to teach us your method, you make it look so easy!! I will watch a few more times before I dive in..🍁Have a wonderful fall...PS I don't mind your nails at all, you have a full life!!
Thank you hugely for this. I am new to socks and am happy with the German short row heel but I really like your toe and especially the bindoff. Also your company. You remind me of my Aunt Flora when she lived on the farm in Kansas although I am older now than she was then. I've lived in Europe early 30 years and there are plenty of American voices about but nobody who sounds so much like home!
I just found your videos. I feel that I am a seasoned knitter, but I truly enjoyed your teaching. You did an awesome job. I've made a ton of socks, but I feel like I can still learn, so than you so much!
just love this tutorial! I'm still learning about socks so I'm doing top down until I'm comfortable, but this tutorial really gave me a desire to try soon... thanks Jana! never apologize for your hands , you're a hard worker with farming....
I’m so glad I came across this video as I searched for help in making my first toe up sock. Your explanation of the construction of the sock and of how to customize the gusset was particularly helpful and SO clear. I appreciate your use of regular sock yarn and appropriate needles. Hey, and you get a finished pair of socks out of the tutorial, too! 🧦 ❤️
Nice sock! One thing I have learned is that both balls may not have the same yardage. So I work both socks at the same time with two sets of needles [ toe/toe....foot/foot etc] and when I get to the tops, I ensure that both legs end with the same number of inches, so I don't have to rip one leg back if it's going to end up longer than the other.] Thanks for tutorial!
Great tutorials! No waffling on for ages, and I am almost done, I did 2 at a time so the heel & gusset was a challenge, but I overcame that and am super happy - would love to see how to do a hooded sweater or jacket... thank you again :D
I didn’t even notice the dirtiness of your thumb until you mentioned it. You made me laugh so hard with your comments. I needed that! By the way, your sock pattern is awesome!
I had so much fun watching your videos. Thank you for sharing! I can't wait to make some socks. I Love sock I collect socks. There so Awesome. GOD BLESS YOU!🕊😇
Aloha, I was looking for instructions for a round toe-up video when I came across your video series. I’m so glad I did! You’re an amazing teacher with precise instructions in your videos. I’ve never seen a bind off like that and will definitely use that method. Thank you for sharing your methodology of your knitting, I love it!
Thank you for these series of tutorials. I just taught myself to knit a few month's ago. Using this pattern and these videos I made my second pair of socks! ( The first pair was terrible. Full of holes and odd bumps) I can't wait to make another pair.
Your hands are beautiful, just like your soul. Keep teaching us. Now, do you have a "workshop on the farm" for those of us that are just learning? I'd be willing to sleep in the barn. HA~!
Well, not on the farm, but we do have a knitting retreat coming up in the fall! You can get more information here: purltogether.com/retreat-information/
I love your working hands! The They make me feel at. home. I am 70 and still have a farm ,though I don't work it like I used to! Your hands are lovely!
Aww these came out looking GREAT! I am too new to knitting to give them a try just yet but someday I will be back to give them a try. Thanks for a full version of sock making much appreciated. :)
Hi! I'm a new subscriber. I love your teaching style, your voice and the way you speak without too many word whiskers...um, uh, er. I even love that your farm manicure makes me feel better about my own farm manicure. I'll head over to FB now and add you there as well.

Finally on my last step!!! Your videos are so helpful and I really appreciate your thoroughness in your explanations. Cant wait to be finished with my first pair and then knit another! Thanks so much for the awesome tutorial!
Hey long time since I commented. Finally stopped my small cleaning company due to Covid....hands are a bit affected with tendon issues so I have to be careful with my knitting. Just finished a simple but so comfy sockie or above ankle sock but not mid leg. It was made with Mohair and Bamboo fine yarn. Came out very cute. Absolutely checked back to see and enjoy while I knit. What a great video tutorial you made.
@@PurlTogether Thank you! Wondering how this Covid 19 has affected you? We moved back to our vacation home which was our only home. We had rented an apt and put our last two kids thru college. Both of us worked and then Covid...we shut down our work as we had to and moved home to an island with no stores or businesses. Guess you can check on ravelry for pics I can send as I found you there! I sent you a message. :)
Thank you for clear directions!! I appreciate your calm encouragement so much. No apology necessary for your real life nails!! I greatly prefer your natural look to the ultra manicured nails!! I find them very distracting. To each their own. I play piano so my nails are short and natural all the time.
This was a great tutorial. I’m not a huge fan of the magic loop and wondered how to get started on DPN’s. I think I can take it from there. Thanks so much.
I am new to sock knitting having only needed three pairs but I knew in my heart that there was a way to do exactly what you’re saying because my sons were out there sock heels on the bottom as well but I like not having to graph the toe. Where in Wyoming do you live? I was born and raised in Wyoming. I very much enjoy your no-nonsense teaching style. I am not one for manicures either.

O'Keefe's working hands works! It's dry and cold here in NW Iowa and I have the same problem. I also use Gold Bond healing lotion off and on all day.

P.S. I subscribed to your channel because you are keeping it real! Thanks!
I appreciate that!
Thank you, this was very clear and easy to follow. I will try this with my next pair of socks. Can I do two at a time with this method?
Sure! You can check out the Scatterby TAAT videos. You may need to separate them for the heel flap / gusset, if you find it more comfortable to do so.
This was a great tutorial. I’m not a huge fan of the magic loop and wondered how to get started on DPN’s. I think I can take it from there. Thanks so much.
