I know Ryo as a singer more than just "the Crystal Lake singer" because I was noticing him in loads of other bands' songs as a featured singer He was everywhere, and sometimes I didn't even know he was in the song but I was recognising the voice and then, checking on google, "Ah, it's actually Ryo, nice" Happy to see them again on the podcast!
I'll never forget Ryo climbing up on the balcony when i saw Crystal Lake in Brisbane, AU. Then proceeded to crowd dive from up there, absolute animal. Hope they continue to be happy, Knosis kicks ass.
Always good to see these two. I'm so damn glad Ryo continues doing music, Knosis is amazing, they bring so much Energy to the stage when they play live. And they are so freakin' kind and humble! So yeah: love to Yosh for getting Ryo back to us and love to Ryo, Moro and Kosuke and basically everyone involved in this. This summer has been awesome and I hope there's more to come.
The three goats!!! Been looking forward to another podcast! Also Yosh’s vocals and screams have been insane lately! I saw him sing Yakusai with Ryo! Want more official collabs with Ryo and Yosh because I love Knosis, SSTP and Crystal Lake! Yosh and Ryo on the same song would be the best thing ever! Edit: Please come to Ireland!!!! 🇮🇪
Hope Ryo is doing better. Heard his illness was pretty rough. Hope he finds his center because this is a great band. I cant believe i slept on this shit.
This brought so much clarity to other people being emulators and why Austin and I just end up vocal stimming at awkward Seattle events together over the years
I have no doubt that once they drop an album on sharptone, they'll get a lot more exposure in the US. Can't wait to see them here and if not, I'll see them in Japan!
Ryo has obviously outgrown Crystal Lake, towards the end of his tenure there were signs of this in his lyrics like with Curse, Watch Me Burn - you could tell there was something going on in his mind. I think the separation was best for both Ryo and CL. Both are thriving and we can enjoy them equally. It would be sick to see Ryo throw down with the new CL vocalist.
As soon as Yukina is mentioned, they immediately go off topic onto Brazilian sushi. Bummer. Was looking forward to maybe hearing a little bit about the band's relationship with Hanabie, behind the scenes on the new video, something ... oh well.
I can give you the basics. The bands first ran into each other at a festival hosted by Back Lift in Nagoya about an year ago. Matsuri liked the set of Knosis and recommended the band to people who like listening to Hanabie's particular brand of "loud rock" about a month later while touring AU. Two more months later Hanabie were doing their 2-man Otaku tour in Japan, and invited Knosis as one of their guest bands. Ryo sang Ghost Mania with Hanabie during their two performances together and after the second gig approached them with the idea for Yukina to be featured in a Knosis song - that part of Fuhai was already written by Yosh with Yukina in mind - and Matsuri gave them the green light. Yukina's audio recording took place sometime in spring before Hanabie's world tour and was more or less a single take - the whole thing took under 30 minutes. The green screen silliness was filmed in the summer after Hanabie returned to Tokyo from the world tour.
Both Ryo and Yosh back again, heck yeah.
RYO IS AN AMAZING VOCALIST
