It took me 11 hours to get out of town but I left and it saved our lives. We all understood we would deal with long lines of traffic but after several hours of bumper to bumper traffic, congestion steadily thins out little by little as people go their different paths. Even getting two or three hours away could make a huge difference on the impact. I’ve lived with hurricanes all my life and we ended up on our roof last time. I’ll never stay again.
To be honest, it in large part is BS. People had puhlenty of warning. I get that there are A LOT of variables, so I don't judge, but there is no doubt that a lot of people can do more than they are willing to do. Having grown up in Florida, you get A LOT of misses, and misses that WERE going to hit you. So to evacuate so many times, yeah, it's easy to judge on the outside, but....the traffic isn't going to be as bad come 11pm tonight.
On one hand, yeah, it can be hard financially, but loss of life is lose of life. That's the end. There are shelters. There are parking garages. I'm sure there are definitely some people that are just in a BAD spot, so I'm not going to judge, but that's not most.
Glad you made it out and that you were ok after your last one. Stay safe.
I know the State is opening up more shelters and Counties as well. Our county had to open more because they filled up so fast.

@@kaymccormick2279 She is nowhere near the high danger zone! Why are there dozens of comments seeming to believe that the entire state will receive cat 5 winds and storm surge? This is insanity.
While it is the worst in a century for Pinellas and Hillsborough, it is fairly ordinary for Citrus, and even northern Pasco is not going to get much worse conditions than it got from Helene. In fact, even our host probably will get less wind from Milton than she did from Helene. Helene came far closer to her than this one will.
The state is afraid of being accused of being too lax, so they go whole hog and throw up onto the board mass evacuations from Levy to Lee. That does not mean that all of these places are going to receive cat 4 conditions. Not even remotely close to being true. They did that because, 3 days out, they couldn't pin down where it was going to hit. But as of right now, the only places where there's a significant probability or possibility of Cat 4 winds or surge are southern half of Pasco through Charlotte. And even most of those areas are expected to be cat 2 or less at the absolute maximum. This does not minimize the catastrophe for those who are in line to receive a catastrophe. It simply defines the area more precisely so that the other 4 or 5 million people can make a decision that's tailored to their exact situation.

She is Not asking people to send her help, all she was doing was explaining the " WHY " of their decision. Also apparently local law agrees, MANDATORY EVACUATIONS FIRST .
Others stay of the roads , shelter in place !
They are as prepared and responsible for themselves as they can be !!! God bless you and your family sweetie . ❤
Thank you so much Jackie you truly have no idea what your comment meant to us. My Mother in Laws name was Jackie and we just lost her 3 months ago. Again thank you so much.
@@jackieisbell7456 it might be mean but it is also true, we all know there is a ton of fear mongering that goes on in the news but hopefully we are wrong, we'll revisit this comment Thursday or Friday...
You are trying to justify your poor decision. Im in Florida and in the path. I take these storms seriously.
And your Assuming that's what she's doing?
Pray 🙏 if u care....how does your comment help!?
you have no appointments tomorrow
they will be closed or flat
not medical. Those don't shut down. medical never shuts down. If it did we would loose millions every time a disaster hits cancer patients, dialysis patients, infectious wound patients, heart patients, diabetics, Do you think we all just say "oh well its windy outside, I gotta pause this sickness for a a day or so"
I have been watching Milton before Milton got a name and I live in Maine. The warnings have been there for several days almost a week. Hurricane Season is every year. There is absolutely no good excuse I hear coming from you to not be prepared to get out at any given time. "No way to prepare" my ass. Your "treatment" can be set up temporarily at a medical facility somewhere safe. You act like no other medical facility can take care of you. I'm done with BS excuses from people who ignore reality. Climate change is real. Adapt or don't.
@@michaelbell7399 No point in being a dickhead. It's her decision. Yea, I would be gone also, but I'm definitely not going to be some snubby little....... sitting on my ass in Maine. People like you give northerners a bad name. Gfy
I feel bad for your 3 dogs. They probably would decide to evacuate but have no choice.
There won't be any appointments they will not be open
My thinking as well. They're not crazy
ya think
Not true, my proctologist is open. He's performing emergency sphincter dilations because he expects a lot of people's acehole will tighter than a snare drum lol
@@cindyzak1897 and also if she gets flooded and that contaminated water gets on it
Congrats on a click bait headline.
First i have lived in fl all my life 53 years. 3rd generation. Second you could have evacuated if you wanted to. No one will stop you. And worse case there are shelters and they take dogs at certain ones. I have friends that got out of Tampa on Monday and some on Tuesday and Tuesday night. All got to ga or the panhandle. None ran out of gas. They only saw a few who did. It was not grid lock. Travel time was double the normal. So if its normal a 4 hr drive the got there in under 8. Most only added a few hours to the trip. People like you putting out this fake bull shit is only causing problems. And scaring people to not leave. I have zero sympathy for people that stay if you want to get out you can. Everyone can regardless of money or means.
But idiots who stay behind and cry saying they can’t or will not leave. Are the ones calling for help and putting first responders in harms way. You’re medical condition in no excuse. I have relatives on oxygen and 2 under hospice care that have evacuated to a safer location. So once again there is no excuse for not getting out IF YOU REALLY WANT TOO. so stop spreading your California bull shit.
BLESS YOUR HEART HAVE A GREAT DAY. 🇺🇸
Scaring people to stay? Your an idiot.
OK, so let me get this right
you have MRSA, an open wound that could get infected so badly with all that water and sewer- contaminated water that’s gonna fill your house neck deep! you’ll probably die from that and this is coming from a medical professional I’ll pray for ya. Your wound could’ve waited. You could’ve been three hours out of town instead of going to your appointment that took three hours to get home., mind blown 🤯
Gas is at a premium since the last hurricane
You have too live in a flood zone she doesn’t that’s why she won’t get flooded do some research before assuming one house is gonna automatically flood because a hurricane is coming .In Florida if you live in a flood zone they would have told you too leave .If you are not in an evacuation zone then you are not required too leave .Assuming she is gonna die because she stayed is ridiculous.
@@RkbmommaAnd? I drove through 1.5 states on one tank of gas in the Midwest. She can drive to Central Florida.
When you don't evacuate you are putting first responders lives in jeopardy.
They probably won't bother going to help after they were all warned to leave. Look at the problems from last week's storm. God help these people. Pray the storm weakens.
You probably should have actually watched the video before commenting
@christineolexa5116 Did you listen to her plans for the storm, and why she isn't leaving. She knows better how to live her life.
You keep talking but this means you're life lady, do you understand this???
During the 3 1/2 hours you spent going to appointments you could have have been 3 1/2 hours further away from the coast. I would sit in traffic and go to Ocala and stay there at the very minimum to avoid the storm surge. Appointments don’t matter if you’re injured. Hope you make it through okay
That and the communication about Milton has been crystal clear for several days now. Get out of it's way, or die. Saying there is traffic just means you have been and continue to ignore the authorities advice. But hey, aint me that's facing the risk of drowning. Wishing you the best of luck regardless, I hope you guys come out unscathed.
Girl, you better get out any way you can. I lived through Katrina. That water from the Gulf can actually go 20 miles inland. You won😅won't be able to go to your appointments, because everything will be closed. You are risking your life and could easily end up dying. At least go to a shelter more inland until it's over, and hopefully, you will have a home to go back to. I am 67 and have been through so many hurricanes. This one is very deadly. Go find shelter.
I think you’re being naïve here. This is a once in a lifetime hurricane.
I have been through a few Hurricanes and I have been through many earthquakes, big and small. I would take an earthquake any day of the week then what is coming at you
Hi, Louisiana here. If I could give you advice from personal experience, please screw plywood to cover all your windows bae. And, have a hatchet in the attic, just in case the h20 gets high then crawl to the roof. Prayers & Positivity for you, your family & Florida. ♥️🙏🏻♥️🙏🏻♥️
Hi. Kokkola, Finland here.
great idea.......many people are just calling her an idiot and not offering her useful info. At least you are kind enough to give her some tips.
Im from New Orleans and went through Katrina...trust me when I tell you this lady GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN!!!!!
Write your name and ss on your arm. 15ft storm surge. 150 mph winds.
Evacuated during Harvey in Houston. It took 14 hours to go 250 miles. My mother stayed and had to be rescued off her roof with 12ft of water in her house. 30 days in a shelter after the storm.
Mandatory evacuation only means means a certain zone. It DOES NOT mean no one else is allowed to evacuate. You won’t be able to get your treatments because they are evacuating all the medical places. There won’t be any power for 3-4 weeks. Which means no one can treat you where you are.
Wow , your reasoning is spot on ! Almost like you have never lived in Florida. 😎
If it was me I'd be heading to Jacksonville yesterday before the roads got clogged with traffic & gas became scarce. No electricity for weeks / no running water for weeks / your stuck there because all the roads will have debris. I get pitching in as a local if I was there but this Milton is going to be Biblical !
Worse , the weather guy I saw already had another storm front coming together in the South Gulf !
@@BethBraden-zc9ip I survived Harvey!! I will never stay for. Hurricane 4 or 5 again!

How can you have appointments when everything is closed?
Can't get wound treatment? They make sure ppl can get dialysis and stay on breathing machines.
Evacuated from hurricane Andrew. We were stuck in a massive parking lot. The hurricane hit us on the road. Go to a concrete parking garage that is multi level. Hang out there with enough supplies to last 3 days. Good luck.
People bitching about her not leaving need to move alone. There’s many reasons why people can’t/wont leave. You act like you’re worried about her life but you’re talking to her like she’s dirt, make that make sense?? Clearly no one has been in a difficult situation such as this.
Prayers to you and everyone affected by these storms.
Thank you🥰
@@Sf_86 No, we're more concerned about her entitlement. She doesn't seem like she's done not one thing to prepare for this hurricane. Not even putting some boards on her freaking windows. But yet, if something happens she will be the first to cry victim and call the emergent line needing rescue. And then a rescuer will have to put his life on the line because she was stubborn and entitled.
I had to rewatch this. You’re only ten miles out? 😮 those winds will blow your house apart like a deck of cards. Please seek safer ground before it’s too late.
I think it's pretty reasonable to cancel a few meetings in the case of one of the largest hurricanes in history 😂
Seriously!! She’s done lost her mind.
Meetings🤔🤦♀️ Watch the actual video bud before being a keyboard warrior.
Once in a hundred year storm on its way and you think your appointment hasn't already been cancelled ?
No ones going to work tomorrow love
Good luck from the UK
My love, you have no idea. I’ve been through 5 of these “100 year storms”. It happens regularly here. 😆
It’s safer to simply get to the high ground & ride the storm out. The reason these non-coastal, southern US states are having issues is b/c the infrastructure wasn’t kept up & river dams broke. That’s it.
The ONE time we tried to evacuate, we got screwed & stuck in a worse situation. Never again.
Lord, please protect these folks that can't leave. Calm this storm.
@@derito5616 Yes, that's what angers me! These recent storms are NOT natural and appear to be weaponized by HAARP (See Air Force document "Owning the Weather by 2025"). If these storms have been seeded to be super storms, then we should have the technology also to weaken them. The fact that they are doing so much damage shows me that TPTB are at the very least deliberately allowing them to worsen, or at the most, are seeding them to get stronger. No effort is made to calm and stop them.
As a geologist and someone with a company on the FEMA contract, I’m telling everyone regardless of what you think you know, you don’t know. If anyone can leave…..leave. It’s not just the surge and winds, it’s the depositional environment of Florida in general coupled with an elevated water table from weeks of rain along with the factors from Milton.
To many people built their houses on the railroad tracks knowing sooner or later the train would be coming through. 25 years ago there wasn't a problem evacuating people. By vehicle you can only go one way to get out of the way and that's north. Way to many people. This is the dark side of paradise. Now think about having to charge your tesla in a evacuation
DON'T SEE ANY SHUTTERS UP,, U HAVE THIN GLASS WINDOWS UR IN TROUBLE IF 140 SUSTANED WINDS ...
UR APPOINTMENTS AIN'T
SHOWING. UP..
BREAK OUT THE PEROXIDE
AND ANTIBIOTICS,,,
GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS..
It has not been 120 years since Florida has seen a storm this size. In 1992 Andrew cut across southern Florida it came ashore in Dade County as a category 5 storm and went into the Gulf still a category 5 storm. Andrew did not care what your house was made of it took it down. If you saw or lived through that storm you would evacuate another category 5 no question.
They aren't saying the size it is where/how and size. They keep records for a reason😊
Im in Weeki Wachee. Block home. 30 ft shove sea level. My insurance cancelled me last year. Now its nor affordable for me. Im retired.
Worst that can happen is my roof blows off. Even with insurance, the deductible was $20k . So Im hoping this monster passes and God protects my home
I think you need to read up on the people who DIED because they “thought” they’d be ok during Helene. They are DEAD now! You have wound care I get it but do you really think if the shit hits the fan your wound care thing is gonna matter to the nurses!? They aren’t going out to risk their lives to come out and put a bandage on you. Especially if your house is under 12 feet of water. You do what you want but I hope you don’t have kids/pets!!
I am curious to understand why your window right behind you is not boarded up? Did you say that you have done everything you can to prepare for this monster coming. I would think that glass Windows would be the first thing to take care of.
There is absolutely NO excuse worthy of you Risking your life sister. NONE. Listen to the warnings - Get out while you still can!!
Hurricane Rita. More people died trying to evacuate Houston than from the actual hurricane
She’s not in the mandatory evacuation zone. The entire population can’t just up and leave. She’s prepared and aware of the risks. I think she’ll be alright.
@@jvanek8512 We were on the road for 16 hours, traveled only 40 miles. Highway was blocked by miles of abandoned cars that ran out of gas. Gave up, took us 15 minutes to get back home. The logistics of moving that many people …
