There should always be a place in the world for hand-made... anythings! Humans leave a trace of themselves in every thing they bring into existence which is why cast iron pans like this are so prized the instant they come off the shelf. Your great-granddaughter might be using it and the tradition handed down is just that much more value added, one more little addition of the human aspect.

Yeah, I just posted up about my Gran’s Dutch Oven I inherited. It was made in the 1800’s. Blows my mind that someone could be watching this vid in 2200 to see how their 200yr old pan was made! :)
Wow I thought there would be some mechanical assistance provided to those men pouring the molten metal into the molds. Wow, how does their back stand up to that
It looks very dangerous with all that molten metal falling to the floor and dripping around, any mistake and you could step on it or it could run all over your shoes.
Yes, I agree, there is sprue then there is riser. For those who do not know what we are talking about, Google cast iron process and diagrams. There is similar process in jewelry lapidary work.
pouring the molten metal drop and splash around near your leg you call safety??? if they can make the poring bowl with hinge like the big one, why not make a small so you dont stand near like that

Shame that Lodge doesn't put the effort in polishing the cooking surface like they did here ( at least they did do some) The Lodge products I've bought usually need a sanding to smooth the inside
I've sworn by Lodge for years. That skillet they are cooking pork belly in at the end of the video isn't any smoother than any lodge product's cooking surface that I've seen. Currently I have a griddle, saucepan, a Dutch oven/skillet combo and 3 frying pans ir different size, ones with a drip lid and they are all the same surface from the casting process. Metallurgical flux. Just any chemical that will bind to iron oxide and form slag which will float to the top of the crucible and be skimmed off. Sodium borate, zinc chloride, etc.

Now that’s working for a living.
what chemical was used to clean the impurities?
impressive
So many shapes I’m not familiar with, I wonder if there’s a breakdown somewhere on what they’re all used for.
used mostly for korean bbq, when you grill porks ,the fat juice gets collected at the centre then you fry kimchi with the fat
высокие технологии...ничего не скажешь
в Пакистане точно так же работают :)
What chemical used for impurity removal?
I think steel woks are better than cast iron > 1 reason there much more lighter, and don't crack
