Same as that mate it just neaver seems to fade and it always seems to find me as I bought my last carbon copy from no other than pound fuckin land , I thought well it's not to bad like the old bargain bucket days, CDs are dead now so I bought four copy's 2 for me and 2 to send to some mates I've known since 90s in wich we loved there first 2 albums I kinda lost track after that , but even listening to it now there's just no one like them the journalists must of had a nightmare with wat box to out them in , I mean there's one thing to say they sound a bit like beck in that song and they sound a bit like howlin wolf in this song but in the same song NO WAY , I've always thought that debut should be up there as one of the all time great indie debuts of the 90s there's so many seminal debuts that are great but theres nothing different about it or a couple of duff tracks or there not that great live but there albums great ,well with Gomez it was so different it drove music papers nuts there wasent a bad track and they were fuckin amazing live and great players , shout out to Gomez ✌️
Same, basic training was all travis and stereophonics but, combat engineering was soundtracked by Liquid Skin and Scar Tissue! Good/bad times, I miss them
Saw them in Aberdeen in about 1999 for the first time. seen them about 5 times since, still think they`re one of the most underated British bands ever.
One of the best voices in musical history. Heard Gomez before ever seeing a performance and imagined the singer looking totally different. Brilliant band. Helped me through tough times and good.
The first pic I ever saw of them was in Rolling Stone after having Bring It On for a few weeks. I tried to guess which one was the one with the amazing voice. I picked Blackburn. Ha!
This album was the soundtrack to kickin' it once and for all and recovering back in '98. There isn't a single dud on the whole album. Press play...set to Re-play...relax in my Lay-Z-Boy and think about all the best things. Free to Run, have fun, and enjoy life. Gracias Gomez.
Yeah except I wasn’t recovering in 98. That’s when the drugs didn’t become funny anymore. Well from 94 up to 2022. What an album. Always have a listen. Went to see them in Leeds at Uni I think it was in 98 when i was 24. Then again at Sheffield with Mrs. They were incredible. All different and mad instruments and swapping. Samples of Michael Jackson played into tunes. What a night that was. A cult following but our secret. Bring it on one of my favourite all time albums. The troubles on drugs, My now separated wife but an 11 year old lad. Enjoyed my life. Yeah not a shite tune on there. Tijuana Lady, This, Here comes the breeze, Get Myself arrested my favourites on here.
@neilmoore5387 they play the Town and Country club in Leeds about ‘98 - ‘99. My bro introduced them to my ears at Glasto’ 98 and then I saw them at the TaCC a few months later.
@@luckysticks Yes that’s where I saw them as I say when they were touring the Bring it On album. I couldn’t remember if Uni or Town and Country. It was T & C! Nice one. They are one unbelievable live band.
Far out this is as tight a performance as I heard on here. Still so young and developing but an incredibly unique band that dont just fit into one genre.
Loved Gomez since Bring it on I was about 15 when it came out. I got to see them in Cardiff a few years ago one of the only bands I've seen do 2 encores. Absolute class
I can't believe I'm only hearing this version for the first time. Thank you for the upload but why this is only now one of the first videos of this song is beyond me. Thank you for the upload, it deserves much more views.
I never understood how this wasn't way more popular. I am glad it wasn't I got to see them many times in very small venues. What a great band back then.
Saw these on the liquid skin tour in Liverpool supported by Coldplay. Absolutely phenomenal live & the first two albums will be favourites of mine for life
Saw these guys last night in Manchester, they finished with this tune. It is amazing how much they have developed over time, they sound HUGE now. Pure class.
I’ve been following these guys since 1999, and it kills me that they haven't had the success that they deserved. Whereas the likes of Coldplay and Adele are worshipped here and in the States, FFS!!!
@@joshpuleston3086 There is nothing wrong with her, she is amazing. But the thing I notice is the decline of "bands" and how mere singers are getting all the recognition. Without the rest of the band, the singer can get pretty boring after a while. We have a profound overabundance of "singers", and too few Musicians. ✌️👽
@@moshfists and too much fuckin Coldplay they came out same time as Gomez and you tell me who's debut should me remembered more so , I mean music writers just couldn't box these guys I mean there's one thing to say they're sound like beck on this song and howlin wolf on that song but in the same song lmfao well that was Gomez not a bad song on it different they were amazing live great players dident take themselves seriously but made people think they did they were the fuckin bees knees and just wat I needed after britpop , what a shame
I will never forget being given a copy of Bring it on by a friend who thought i would love Gomez and they were absolutely right. That record is still one of my all time essential records and Get miles is one of the best songs Gomez ever wrote.
Love the waÿ he keeps his specs on when singing. No egos here. I have danced to this. More music in their little fingers... than most have in theis auto tuned bodies . Love Gomez ❤
Remember seeing this back then and going out and buying the CD the next day, Jools was on a Friday back then. Got the cover signed by them when they played in Dublin later that year. Vividly remember talking to Paul outside before the show about what pedal he used on Get Myself Arrested.
I don't know if you are aware but if you go to the Gomez website (I won't post a url in case it looks like spam) Up in the right hand corner of the homepage is "Gomez Live". They have recorded some of their live shows and they are available on MP3, some free some pretty cheap. Loads of tracks like this. They never seem to play the same song the same way twice, just incredible to watch live, Ben Ottewell's solo stuff is really good to. If you wan the direct link to the MP3's send me a PM.
always imagined him to be a large set American dude, with a rugged beard. haha. When I first saw him I had to watch his lips move to make sure it wern't a sync job. brilliant band always loved them from the beginning. I will now be listening to them over the christmas period, it just seems the right thing to do.. Thank you GOMEZ, you got me through some pretty rough times and enjoy many others.
thomas ant- Right homie! I remembering hearing this song back in 2008 on HOUSE MD and I’m just now looking the band up and seeing their shit is still legit!
I saw them also in the Glastonbury mud, and they were an absolute shambles, having taken in all that the festival offers. If memory serves, they were on after Keanu Reeves' band in the mud trap.
Saw them 98 doing Bring it On album at Leeds then couple of years later in Sheffield. Couple of times since. Fucking top live band. Gotta see them to appreciate them. That first album is a classic. So different to other arse end of “ Brit pop” shite. This was different gravy. This tune, Whipping Piccadilly , Tijuana Lady, Get Miles and Get Myself Arrested just a few. Not one shit tune on this album. Mental live back in day.
Jools gets the name of the album wrong, classic!! Saw these guys last year when they did the Bring it on tour again, it was possibly the best gig i've ever attended!!

What a Band. I'm sure that crowd wouldn't be expecting Ben's amazing voice when they first saw him. Still the best live act around.
Not one unlike
I remember first seeing them live, and I didn't expect a scrawny white dude either!
Back in the day! Groundbreaking album. Still one of my all-time favourite albums.
Me too, still a favorite band😎😎😎

This reminds me of my last semester in college. Weed, headphones, and nothing but hope and the rest of my life ahead of me. I miss it so.
Erb, music and hope will get you through a lot of Shyte sir. Peace.
Ha, hope and the rest of my life ahead of me…live it love it ..

It was this appearance on Jools that got me into Gomez - been a massive fan in the 20 years ever since.

tnx to whoever put this track in dr-house tv series - a great band

Saw these open with this in Southampton in 1999, going to see them on the accoustic tour next month, 25 years on. Time does me in.
I remember being blown away by a couple of their albums, they've made some really fucking good music in their time. Still sounds amazing.

Anyone who heard Gomez before they saw them will understand that delight/surprise/confusion. haha. tune.

Brilliant. I remember getting hold of a DJ promo copy of Bring it on' i didn't stop playing it.
20 years since their Mercury Prize win this year. That album still hasn't been bettered.
Truth
"In Our Gun" was their best album, but, yeah, they were astonishingly great for a few years there. Even their B-sides were as good as their albums.
Best band ever
what young pups they were.....
Great, GREAT band.
this version .. so trippy .. love it
Bass guys shirt IS magnifique. Gomez IS like good wine.xxxx❤️

Sounds exactly like on the CD enough said sheer brilliance
I wish we had this performance in higher fidelity, this absolutely fucks the studio version. Like 100% more balls.

Awesome, thanks a lot for uploading!
Actually jools the albums called bring it on,saw them twice back in the day Shepherd's Bush and Glastonbury a class act.
I saw them also in the Glastonbury mud, and they were an absolute shambles, having taken in all that the festival offers. If memory serves, they were on after Keanu Reeves' band in the mud trap.
That just blew my fucken mind. That shows them as the bunch of normal looking dudes that were putting out something INCREDIBLE.
Wow,that voice is the best in the business!!
Eddie Vedder copyist
What a fking good song this is!!!
Saw these guys at the H.F.C and i will never forget it :)
Still fuckin superb
What a band
Pure class
Any idea what model of keytar that is that Tom is playing? Would love to copy that sound.
Yamaha shs-10, they have a MIDI out, most sounds are naff but put through guitar/bass pedals can sound good.
Coolest geek in town ✊
This is beauty, what’s wrong with people I will never understand.
Magical
It started here for me and I didnt know…
That voice
perfection

Theres a slight delay in the end and the start of the clapping, its when the audience thought fuck me... Clap clap clap clap clap
And he demonstrates the former by getting the name of the album wrong at 5:30. He does this all the time
