  • With the vanagon exploring further from home, it was time to install a cheap and easy solar power system for plenty of juice during our adventures. In this episode I walk through the steps of installing and wiring an auxiliary battery into your vanagon and then show how to connect and charge the battery with solar panels.

Great vid - watching over from UK ... I have a 91 Westie Cali .. Battery configuration is stock and i do have 2 x 120 fold up panels and a bluetti 180 power station ... I like the look of the renogy 200w briefcase and the fact it can be left outside at home when not using in van ,, Do you think that panel is more versatile than fold out panels (when used its more compact) .. I do need to change over the battery draw as you did (i have alarm and tracker off main starter also) .. have you left the small battery switch over box in place? And would you not be tempted to add a panel to the roof for when vehicle is parked up (although that means holes in the roof i guess) .. and do you know anything about the charge to charge units? ... Keep up the good work

@@BennyObscene Okay great to know. That is the same one that I am leaning towards. I am a little concerned that 50ah may not be enough. Has 50ah been enough for you or would you suggest 100ah?
