@@taztheunstoppable5479 Here is an argument. Artsakh was NEVER part of Azerbaijan, but part of USSR. When the USSR was falling down, the countries that came out of it, did it by referendum that the USSR lawfully allowed. Azerbaijan and Armenia, both left USSR by a referendum. Now, Artsakh in 1988, had a referendum to LEAVE Azerbaijan and USSR. which was held back then and the vote was in favor of it , almost 90%. This referendum was met by Azerbaijan with the shelling of Civilians and the start of operation "Ring". After they were successfully repelled, the ceasefire was held with the idea of brining a peaceful solution, hence the reason, for the sake of the peaceful solution, Armenia did not recognize Artsakh, but now, it appears that is the direction Armenia should work on, because oil daddy Aliyev likes shelling civilians.

Artsakh or “Nagorno Karabakh” has been populated by indigenous Armenians for thousands of years, this is Armenian indigenous land. At no point was Artsakh ever populated by Azeris. Just because the Soviet Union decided to give something it did not own (in this case Artsakh) to someone else, doesn’t mean that it belongs to whoever they supposedly gave it to, and it also doesn’t mean they had the right to that. That’s like someone thats more powerful than you decides to transfer ownership of your computer that they do not own to your neighbor with all your info and pics and every other thing you have in it, does that mean that your neighbor now has a right to come and take your computer from your house? NO! This is total injustice from all sides. Screw the Soviet Union for doing that, and screw the Azeris that want to come take land that does not belong to them.
What do you mean the Soviet Union never owned Artsakh? Wasn't it their territory? Conquered or not, it was theirs and they gave it to Azerbaijan, that's why no country in the world recognizes the independence of the Republic of Artsakh.

Thousands of people have died since 1992 because of this bloody war. Women, men, old, young, kids even infant babies for God's sake, "died" they all gone and in time they will be forgotten. Now put yourself in their shoes. You're sitting in your house, having a cup of tea, having a little chat with your family, you know the usual things. And then all of a sudden an artillery fire smashing your house to the ground. All of your family members including you are DEAD.....for what ? Or even better, think about you're a solider. a 20 years old boy, just a random dude who is playing videogames and drinking beer with his friends. Next day you're in front line and you have a bullet in your chest, you're just lying on the ground looking through the sky begging for help, but no one is helping. And slowly your life starting pass before your eyes. For a few minutes you're seeing all of those memories your family, your friends, your dog or cat and then... you're gone. There was so many things that you could have been accomplished in your life but instead of that you just became a memory "You just died in a war that you didn't even started it. You didn't even born when the war started" yet you died. This war was so unfortunate, so unnecessary. When we are born we're coming to the world not to some "country". I think it should be stated that Azerbaijan isn’t just Turkey’s allies, but that Azeri’s and the Turkish people are basically one people, who, because of geopolitics diverged a bit in language, and political systems but they’re both Turks. So Armenians don’t view Azeri’s as distinct, but as just another group of Turkish people.

One remark. Artsakh/ Karabakh was part of Armenia, until Stalin decided to give Artsakh in 1921to Azerbaijan, of course under Turkey’s pressure. Artsakh Population always were 99% Armenian. Because that evil decision, we suffer till today.
There was not a single Armenian living in the area in the 1800s, stop lying. After the Second World War, Stalin settled thousands of Armenians from Russia and Iran in the region and changed the demographic structure. When the Caucasian countries gained their independence in the 90s, Russia gave the last Soviet ammunition, a weapon worth approximately 1 billion dollars, to Armenia for free. What Armenians, dasnaks, hincaks and asala could not do to the Turks, they did to the Azerbaijanis with the weapons they kept secretly in the churches together with their independence in the 90s. 700,000 Azeri civilians were massacred in the 90s (no distinction between children, elderly and women) 20,000 civilians were expelled from the area barefoot at midnight in the February cold but the Azerbaijanis are generous and brave people. They gave the Armenians time to leave the region. No one left the region barefoot and penniless. They left the region in the determined time with their very modern cars. Azeris lost blood and left the region without looking back, but Armenians left the region with their cars and damaging nature. As for Turkey, Turkey is not a country that Russia will be afraid of. The issue is not only about Russia, but the whole world already recognizes the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. In short, Armenians should learn from this war and understand that the reign in other countries' lands will not last long. Neither Kim Kardashian's big ass nor the pressure of the Armenian lobby will provide you any profit or benefit.
I must protest. This is not a fair interpretation of the conflict. I will not be responding to the replies under this comment. The fact that the area consists of majority ethnic Armenian population currently is due to the fact that Azerbaijanis were kicked out from the region during the war, which started with the Khojaly Massacre against the Azerbaijani population. Referendums are only legitimate when they also include the minorities of the local population. The 1991 Nagorno-Karabakh referendum was held without the consent of Azerbaijan, and had 99.98% votes in favor of independence, where at the time the Azerbaijani population of the region constituted 20% of the region. After the referendum the Azeri population inside and outside the region protested. The referendum is also not recognized by UN member states. I'll let you make your own conclusion about the fairness of this referendum. Let's say the referendum was in fact fair, just for the sake of argument. This still doesn't justify how the process of self-determination for Nagorno-Karabakh started with the Khojaly massacre against the local population of Azerbaijanis with the intent of at best terror to kick out and at worst to ethnically cleanse. And the process of "self-determination" for Armenia didn't end with having Nagorno-Karabakh independent. It ended with the invasion of territories deeper within Azerbaijan, that was never even disputed to be a land belonging to someone else. To be fair, Nagorno-Karabakh is not recognized to be independent by none of the UN-member states, not even by Armenia itself, and is actually recognized by Armenia to be part of Azerbaijan. The argument about bribery and the Azerbaijani laundromat from an official from the self-proclaimed Foreign Ministry of Nagorno-Karabakh is unfounded. The UN Security Council Resolutions 822, 853, 874 and 884 (which demanded the immediate withdrawal of Armenian troops from Nagorno-Karabakh territory) was passed in 1993, a year before the war stopped. At this time Azerbaijan was not rich, and was alone to fight this war. Azerbaijan's oil became a prevalent factor in its economy after 1994 when a deal was struck between the country and many big oil conglomerates to start working on the oil and gas reserves in the Khazar region. This happens to be after the majority of the war was over. So the argument that Azerbaijani oil had anything to do with it would be a bit of a stretch, to say the least. Lastly, you can't say that "we didn't start the war" when the other side clearly has stated that they are not satisfied with the current situation since 1994. And you have been stalling talks, making changes, and doing nothing for the advancement of the peace talk processes. You must AT LEAST return the territories within Azerbaijan that are outside of Nagorno-Karabakh that you have invaded. And if you choose not to, you can't say "we didn't start a war" after stalling for almost 30 years for the absolute fairest demands of the Azerbaijani people, which is for the return of territories outside of Nagorno-Karabakh. And you didn't. No worries. We are now taking it on our own. Being weak is not what makes one right. And having advanced military equipment, does not make one cruel. We both lived in these lands. Azerbaijanis and Armenians, peacefully. We are both people with old history, and I do not dispute this for the other side. But you cannot expect us to be okay with our territories being invaded. I'm sorry that it has come to this. I wish one day Armenians and Azerbaijanis can live in peace just like they do in Russia and other countries. But pacifism does not make peace. Neither does complacency. Only justice brings peace
you guys don't even recognize the Armenian Genocide of 1.5 million of our people and you expect us to bat an eye at Khojaly? even when Azerbaijanis were there it was still majority Armenian.

A BRIEF HISTORY: Artsakh, also known as Nagorno Karabakh, is a region that was part of the Armenian kingdom and has been inhabited by Armenians since the 5th century BC. The ethnic group which would eventually become Azerbaijanis only entered the Caucasus in the 12th century AD. Artsakh has always been populated by an Armenian majority. Today, the territory has a population of 150,000, 95% of which are ethnic Armenians.1 This population lives and functions peacefully, with an Armenian government, Armenian currency, and Armenian schools. Despite its majority Armenian populace, Artsakh was placed under the control of Soviet Azerbaijan by Stalin in 1921 to placate Turkey.2 In 1988, as the USSR was dissolving, the Republic of Artsakh was founded when the people of Artsakh voted for their independence through a free and fair referendum, which had an 82.1% voter turnout, in which 99.8% of voters chose to create an independent state. The people of Artsakh have the right to self-determination, and hold that their independence is one of liberation from Azerbaijan, which had been occupying them for the last 70 years.3 These votes and elections were carried out in a peaceful manner, but conflict grew, eventually into war, because Azerbaijan was unwilling to let Armenians live in peace. In the 1992 Artsakh War, the first major military action was the blockade and aerial bombardment of the city of Stepanakert by Azerbaijan. Even before that, in the lead-up to the war, Azerbaijan began the tensions by committing atrocities at Sumgait and Kirovabad.4 War ended in de facto independence of the Republic of Artsakh and de facto unification with Armenia, with Armenians emerging as the victors, despite being severely outnumbered and outgunned (as is the case today). In 1994, a ceasefire was signed by both sides. Today, Armenia already has de facto control of Artsakh. It is not in its interest to be the aggressor in these conflicts, while Azerbaijan aims to undo the results of the Artsakh Liberation War. Armenia is a significantly smaller country, with fewer resources, a lower military budget, and very few close allies, so there is little incentive to instigate a conflict. Furthermore, Azerbaijan is directly backed by Turkey. Both nations are dictatorships and strong allies, as Azerbaijanis are a Turkic people whose language is closely related to Turkish. The two nations consider themselves “brothers.” Turkey’s President Erdoğan recently said: We will continue to fulfill this mission, which our grandfathers have carried out for centuries, in the Caucasus again. This eerie statement refers back to the Armenian Genocide of 1915 in whcih 1.5 million Armenians were murdered. Turkey denies the Genocide to this day. In its efforts to support Azerbaijan, Turkey has not only provided weapons and funding to Azerbaijan, but has also sent at least 1,000 mercenaries from Syria to fight in Artsakh. Armenians, on the other hand, are fighting this fight alone.
@Nodata I am not as vain as the government is that doesn’t give the turkish and azerbaijani people the right to learn their own history...I’ll help you a little so you won’t be ashamed of the lack of the knowledge that you have. So this is what happened in Khojaly. For most of 1991 and early 1992 the Azeri OMON (Special Purpose Militia Detachment) had systematically shelled Armenian civilian targets, using rockets. The Azeris had also blockaded the nearby airport. As a result of Azeri attacks, Armenians had suffered civilian casualties, hundreds had been kidnapped and thousands of cattle had been driven away. The blockade had also resulted in lack of food, fuel and medical supplies, especially in Stepanakert, the capital of Artsakh. Armenian forces had to neutralize Azeri fire in Khojaly and terminate the blockade. It was also obvious to the Armenians that the Azeris were planning to attack the Armenian centre of Askeran before moving on to the capital. Using loudspeakers for ten days, the Armenian forces announced to Khojaly inhabitants (mostly Meskhetian Turks who had been settled in the village during Soviet times) and forces that an Armenian attack was imminent. The announcements also informed Azeris that Armenians had dedicated a corridor for the safe passage of civilians to Azeri-held areas. But the Azeri authorities did nothing to facilitate the evacuation of their people. Don’t fight with us fight with your government who doesn’t care about you. Overall you have the right to live in peace too.
“I will never leave, we will never leave, it’s in our blood, I’m a strong woman I’m not afraid” *2 days later* “It wasn’t safe, the lights went out so I had to leave.” Sorry, I know they’re literally in a war zone but they’re all talk. If she believes she and they can return to their towns even if it’s just land they will rebuild, how strong is that belief? Because if it’s as strong as their conviction on not leaving in the first place they’re f*****d, they’ll give up after 2 days of no bread. If you want peace as badly as you say then stick to your convictions. Don’t say you’re not afraid and you’ll fight back only to turn around and flee literally a day later, you’ll never achieve anything that way. No ones achieved anything by running away(except Usain Bolt and Kathy Freeman).
Praying every day for these brave men to return home to their families! We are with you all in spirit!!! ❤️💙🧡 #haxteluenq #armeniastrong #artsakhstrong

Great reporting, Vice. There is always more to a conflict than meets the eye but I do not understand why the international community is tolerating Azer's indiscriminate shelling and bombing of civilians. Whether the people in the region identify one way or another does not ever mean you can simply attempt to annihilate them. Azerbaijan's technology is clearly many years ahead of Armenia (they have the money to buy such tech) so this is truly disgusting.
As you mentioned, they do have the money for advanced military equipment and they also have the money for bribing the politicians. But what they are missing is integrity and spirit for victory. The ordinary people don't understand what they are fighting for, because for them it's just a territory, while for Armenians it's a homeland.
It’s about to turn into a proxy war. This is also linked to oil and gas starting to flounder and governments realizing that things are going to change in terms of supporting the citizenry. Destabilization of a long standing economy plus unresolved historical tension and trauma plus nationalism equals war. I don’t know how this will end but situations like this have begun world wars and worse. It’s clear that this island of culturally different people are simply outgunned and surrounded by a country that never recognized their sovereignty. It’s just another sad example of hatred based on the assumption that different means wrong. The fear of being executed en masse for no other reason is horrific and disgusting. I hope this stops before it becomes unstoppable. It’s humans once again dragging ourselves down at the worst possible time.
@TOP MMA Did you listen? Their weapons are from ISRAEL and Turkey. This is two nations with a combined population of over 100 million attacking a small country of 3 mil. Armenian is surrounded and doen't have a problem with the rest of them. This is Erdogan trying to spread Pan-Turkism and it needs to be stopped!
@TOP MMA this isn't biased at all. Armenians have been dealing with genocide and ethnic cleansing for over a 100 years. Armenians also feel the pain of the Palestinians. Armenians have started many organizations for human rights because of their history. They try to raise awareness to what happens when the world ignores genocide and displacement. Don't diminish their pain. You should read about their history.

@Dian that's no argument

It's so hard time for us. Every day young guys and peaceful people died ...Its 2th Genocide...But world dont su anything....its terrible...
Its obvious this land should belong in Armenia, Stalin chose to give it to Azerbaijan under the Soviet Union even though it's populated by Armenians 🤷♂️🇦🇲

How the things ever get so far ? Just 30 years ago we were living in peace, we were friends, neighbors even families. It's so hard to believe now isn't it ?. All those bloodshed, violence, killings. It doesn't matter where you from Azerbaijan, Armenia. We are humans... but we acting like animals. 30 years we acted like animals driven by emotions. İt's time to wake up. It's time to give up on our basic instincts and start to think "What we are going to do next" ?.
We can't hate each other forever.

They are not Turkish people, they are Turkic people and those are two different things. Just like Poles and Slovaks are Slavic people but clearly different nations.

@@emreorgel8194 For thousands and thousands of years Armenians lived there, way before Azerbaijan was even a country
700,000 Azeri civilians were massacred in the 90s (no distinction between children, elderly and women) 20,000 civilians were expelled from the area barefoot at midnight in the February cold
but the Azerbaijanis are generous and brave people.

Exactly saying, but don't forget 700000 azerbaijanis were forced to leave their home. They're living as refugees. We don't want to force the ethnically armenians leave their home. But Nagorno Karabakh is belong to Azerbaijan in accordance with international law and Armenia doesn't withdrawal. Status quo lasts for 27 years and ethnically azerbaijani refugees waiting to return their home.

I absolutely agree with you! This hurts when people suffer because of their politicians and their ambitions! My people have faced It back in 90s when 700k+ Azerbaijanis were forced to leave their lands and homes, due to Armenian ethnic cleansing on occupied territories. And today the number of those refugees has grown to 1 million (in a country with a population of 10 million) They want to return their homes as well. But for 30 years nobody cared. Shame!
one million Azerbaijanis have been waiting to go home for 30 years waiting for the Armenians to let them return peacefully. They are done waiting, 30 years is a long time, a lot of people died of old age without seeing there homes and towns ever again. even the city being shown was once called khankandi and in 1988 pogroms where carried out against its azeri population forcing them to leave for safety.

A BRIEF HISTORY:
Artsakh, also known as Nagorno Karabakh, is a region that was part of the Armenian kingdom and has been inhabited by Armenians since the 5th century BC.
@Nodata the information that I have put above completely lost the point if you still say things like that) maybe you should read it again?
Yana good job on that essay, but why do I feel like you copy pasted what I wrote earlier?
“I will never leave, we will never leave, it’s in our blood, I’m a strong woman I’m not afraid”
*2 days later*
“It wasn’t safe, the lights went out so I had to leave.”
Sorry, I know they’re literally in a war zone but they’re all talk.
As usual, it's the people who have nothing and now have even less. Any and all war should be declared a crime against humanity.
Capitalism and war will kill us all in the end.

Go learn history and understand that Armenia has always wanted peace. But it's not a walk in the park to share borders with tyrant Turkey and Azerbaijan, with huge egos, love for greed and power. We have no choice but to defend our people, our land, our heritage and our right to exist. 🇦🇲✊🏼
Appreciate you all for giving these people a chance to share their stories with the world. Great work.
They weren't brave. They just were brave until going and seeing the situation of the war. All of them were running from the trenches during the war. They simply made a scene in front of the camera. They chained their soldiers to the trenches so that no one could escape from the war. İt is what they did. All I've said are the truths of the war. They always try to show the world themselves as miserable, helpless. But they are always forgetting what they did in the Khojaly. And I am also waiting for a documentary about the Khojaly genocide on this channel. If you look at what happened in the Khojaly then you can easily understand us

@Rohit Kumar This conflict is not related with religious matters at all and both Turkey and Azerbaijan are constitutionally Secular country, although Islam is an integral part of both society. In fact, both society has different sect though. So please stop twaddling and pretending that you inform people with your ignorance.
