Thank you Scotland, for my favorite Detector’s channel and for hot drinks and soup on a chilly Winter morning. I will send blessings your way whenever I partake! 🥶
Enjoy watching you. The brass piece is 100% a bent trigger guard to a musket. Most likely 18th century. Winter hitting here in Ohio (USA) as well. Detecting time soon running out until spring .... Happy hunting until the ground freezes...
Thanks for taking us all on your frozen dig. Get a small rock hammer for winter digs save your shovel. Couple of good whacks with the flat side will bust up frozen ground and the pick side knocks the rust off the metal things. Thanks for sharing with us and Simon. Nice digs John sorry about the shovel.
well done for persevering lads and the nox won , your right John the weather has started to feel like Christmas hardy Scott and an adopted Scott thanks again cheers
It was good seeing you and Simon out, what rotten luck with your shovel and his headphones but still some good finds....it will be cool if that one piece is part of a gun! Cathy
Been out today in frozen north Essex. Musket ball, lead weight, possible medieval jeton, multiple buttons and £2.22 in cold hard cash. Frozen fingers, frozen feet, I wouldn’t miss it for the world!
Hello guys! Great frozen hunt; although John’s spade issue had to be fun…. Definitely a 17-18th century trigger guard! Great finds! Happy hunting and stay warm!
A fantastic video as always John! Nice to see Simon back out with you as well! I’m hoping it’s inspiration, but likely a coincidence in our recent video titles! All the best to you mate - Jake!
well, congrats to Simon. I saw that you have 100% chance of snow Saturday. Good time to stay in with a warm fire and warm beverage. Except for when you have to take Jura out.
Best ask Santa for a new spade 😉 Well done Simon! You have indeed taught him too well John 😀 There's me thinking 17c is cold tonight........you can keep the -4c thank you very much lol
I have given up trying to receive notifications from TH-cam for your videos John and Simon so I shall just enjoy them when they are on my feed. Thanks good luck 💜💜💜
Great to see the Scottish boys out again! Well almost 😂. Surprised you broke your spade John but then if you cracked it down on that hard soil 😲😲. . So enjoyable to watch the video even with not so great finds, and can’t have been easy in the cold and half a spade! I hope you’ve survived those minus temps that were heading your way, expecting a vid of your garden next with the beautiful snowy scenes.
Congratulations on the win Simon! I received a Stanley vacuum thermos for a graduation present in 1980 and it still works great today. Thank you Sir James Dewar. I had to look him up to see if he was related to the Dewars of whisky fame, but he is not, at least directly.
Holy cow that was hard going well done for going for it . I'm digging in Upper Largo on Sunday and after watching you boys digging isn't the word I I should use. Top video john y mi Amigo Simon
Haha, Oh no! BushPro in Canada makes some very tough shovel handles and shovels period. They are generally meant for tree planting though have found the wood stocks are fairly lightweight and are super strong in any weather. Even work to chip a hole in the ice if you forget to pack your ice auger before heading out for some ice fishing..Great vid as usual! and cheers from British Columbia!👍
Needed to watch with a warm-up with hot chocolate, it looks so cold.Much enjoy the tidbits of Scottish accomplishment along with stories behind the finds.
I watch a few other detectorists, but yours is the only one that isn't on the beach. Your channel is definitely my favorite but I must note the physical strength it takes to dig into the soil all day, especially when it's frozen. It's the Scotsman muscle that broke your shovel while digging😂. And how fun to see Simon-I don't think that guy ever has a bad day. Thanks again John for a fun video! 🦋
Looks too cold for me. Great job both you and Simon. Some plastics don't do well in warm then cold conditions. I have had a handle snap in similar conditions.
Sorry to see that your little spade got broken - I am sure that it isnt cheap - hope that the manufacturer can repair it for you. Trials and tribulations in metal detecting. Good luck to you in the future John and also to Simon.
Thanks for your upload John, hope you get your spade sorted, pls let us know the result of the spade, as I have one. Also tell Simon my equinox headphones used to be iffy in the cold weather. Stay safe guys with storm Bert incoming!
Hey John, that badge thingy you found the other day that had the three feathers on top looks a lot like something I saw yesterday on "Who Do You Thin k You Are" with the story of Dame Judi Dench. That episode showed something remarkably like the one you found and they said it's Irish. That episode is on TH-cam.
Greatest invention ever? Airplane? Automobile? Telephone? Nope, thermos bottle. Put in something hot, it stays hot. Put in something cold, it stays cold. So what's the big deal, you ask? Tell me this----- How does it know? Sorry, my Dad's joke. Thanks John
Hi Simon! Hi Jason! Bummer on your shovel Jason. Good company though, and an ad! lol brr we are cold here too, WI , and our first snow a couple of days ago. Yuk. See you next round.
Hi from Brisbane Australia 🇦🇺 Fascinating video as always. Really enjoy the banter between you two guys. Bummer about the spade and headphones. Stay warm 🔥 🔥🔥
Looks like a day of thing-a-ma-jigs What-ya-ma-call-its Rubbish, Farm things, Furniture parts, And pads and ends. BTW, watched a fella in Connecticut come up with 2 George II, a Grg III AND A Connecticut coin from 17th century. One Grg Ii was Hibernian
After breaking a few shovels. I got the best shovel. Predator tool now all the gang I dig with have them. Not sure if they ship across the pond. But worth the $
They should invent a detector that sends microwaves also, so it defrost the soil, and also give you warm feet and a tan in the winter 😅😂. Hate the days the ground is frozen.
This time I learned never to buy a British made spade. John clearly lost To Simon🙄😱🤔 well if Spain ever Meets Scotland in a football match. It will be Culloden all over Again for The Scottish 😜🔝❤️
Graeme. You’re back again. Loving the fact you hate me and my channel but keep coming back to watch 🤣 Living rent free in your head. Don’t skip those adverts 😉 😘
Thank you Scotland, for my favorite Detector’s channel and for hot drinks and soup on a chilly Winter morning. I will send blessings your way whenever I partake! 🥶
U need to get a life

Thanks for sharing your adventures! Here is a bit for a new spade.
🥰
Good evening from tennessee, thanks for braving the miserable conditions to give us this hunt!
Enjoy watching you. The brass piece is 100% a bent trigger guard to a musket. Most likely 18th century. Winter hitting here in Ohio (USA) as well. Detecting time soon running out until spring .... Happy hunting until the ground freezes...
Certainly is bent
HI John few problems you and Simon had. But pat on the back too you both for not giving up congratulations.
True love never dies

Hi John, you are very brave 🫣. Lovely to see Simon also. 🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶
Another great video, thanks for persevering John. ❤❤❤

No cutlery or ring pull to make it a complete dig, LOL. These kind of days happen, but as you say, a coin makes it worthwhile. Cheers from Texas.

looks like a trigger guard to me just a bit flattend out.thanks john for sticking with the cold and broken shovel .
It is very snowy and frosty up here too
Thanks for your upload John, hope you get your spade sorted, pls let us know the result of the spade, as I have one. Also tell Simon my equinox headphones used to be iffy in the cold weather. Stay safe guys with storm Bert incoming!
❤ Detector sounds like R2-D2 from Star Wars ❤
Warm here in Australia 🇦🇺 Hi both of you.
Good old Thermos, enjoyed by people world wide.
Maybe a detecting trip to warmer Spain is in order? Any day out is a great day!😊🎉
Reminiscent of my dig last weekend 3 faceless coins but my spade is still in tact 😄😅👍
The first object you wanted to identify I am pretty certain is a broken terret ring, from horse harness or cart. Good video John 😊
It looks like you do have a trigger guard there John. Nice find.
Many thanks and thanks for confirming! Fantastic
Hi John and Simon, well if nothing else at least the view and sunset were priceless cheers !!! 🥰😘👍👍👍🙏
Would love to see a video of your treasure collection some day , i bet it’s utterly amazing.
Bet it's not
Cold one here as well tc
Greatest invention ever? Airplane? Automobile? Telephone? Nope, thermos bottle. Put in something hot, it stays hot. Put in something cold, it stays cold. So what's the big deal, you ask? Tell me this----- How does it know? Sorry, my Dad's joke. Thanks John
John that spade cost quite a bit of money, hoping because of the age it is still in guarantee. 💜💜
Good too see Simon and you out again shame about the spade
That's racist
Hi Simon! Hi Jason! Bummer on your shovel Jason. Good company though, and an ad! lol brr we are cold here too, WI , and our first snow a couple of days ago. Yuk. See you next round.
There are two kinds of plastic: 1. Broken and 2 . About to be broken…….plastic handled spade that gets the kind of use you need is a high risk plan
It was great seeing Simon! A great video
Hi from Brisbane Australia 🇦🇺 Fascinating video as always. Really enjoy the banter between you two guys. Bummer about the spade and headphones. Stay warm 🔥 🔥🔥
19:36 looks like it could be a trigger guard.
Another great video, the item you think is gun related is to big for a trigger guard, it looks like a door knocker to me fella.
Looks like a day of thing-a-ma-jigs
What-ya-ma-call-its
Rubbish,
Farm things,
Furniture parts,
And pads and ends.

Hopefully you get a replacement spade from Evolution 🤞
Hi John, Simon, I guess the Spaniards is winning. Come on John, find a beauty.Adios muchachos.
It snowed in Pennsylvania. Winter is upon us.
John: the ground may be frozen for a week….
Me, in Canada: looks outside 👀 at a foot of snow…. If I am lucky we will thaw by June!
😂😂😂
Did Simon just throw the copper back to the ground? Enjoy finding that in the future!
John, is the XP Deus II waterproof? For instance, to be used in a river!
Of course it is nymnuts
Simon top? Great to see you man. Oh and you too John. 😅
😊
Wow I didn't know a guy with the same surname as me invented the Thermos! I knew about the whisky lol!
I would be grafting a decent handle onto that spade. Don't bin it
Thanks! Towards a new spade.😊
🥰
yay john
That does look like a trigger guard off of a musket.
😊🎉👍
Suggest you put latex or nitrile gloves on under cloth or leather gloves to stay warm😊
Nee him in the shower I'm sure he'll have the latex gloves on
Simon!
