Searching for afghans/pathans in jammu , search in Ustaad mohalla.
Mohalla name was on the name of Ustad Gous Mohammad khan .
This Ustaad word was given by Maharaja of jammu because , Ghous Mohammad khan was his "USTAAD" in weapon's training .
There was a hawali in mohalla ustaad which was specially constructed by Maharaja of jammu for his Ustaad .
There is /was a huge royal history of dogra muslims /pathans who r associated with Maharaja Gulab singh To Maharaja hari Singh .
Which will high lights the actual bonding of Maharaja of jammu with Pathans (yusufzai and Afridi ) tribes have given important roles in jammu kashmir by Maharaja gulam singh to maharaja hari singh in there Dogra armies.

Large populations of pathans still live in mumbai kolkotta n other cities. They hv been coming for centuries n borders made movements difficult. During british time many Indians from lahore peshawar n other cities had business in afganistan. We hv centuries old ties with afgans. Many top actors n film makers in mumbai were/ r pathans. Salman khan Dalip Kumar r pathans our heros.

Youre confusing Nader Shah, King of Persia/Iran (not Afghan or Pathan ) with Ahmad Shah Durrani (Afghan/Pathan of Abdali-Durrani tribe and king of Afghanistan ). During the time of Ahmad Shah and his later offspring , Jammu and Kashmir for some time remained part of the Afghan dominions and a large number of these people were settled in Jammu and Sri Nagaras well as other places, mostly Durrani/Abdali of the Sadozai branch , later also some Tareen, Ghilzai, Yusufzai, Afridi etc . After 1830s however , Kashmir and Jammu came under the Sikh Khalsa empire of HH Maharaja Ranjit Singh Ji and Dogra Rajas of Jammu and Rathors of Poonch used to pay annual tribute . However after the First Sikh War of 1846 , J and K was ceded to the British East India Co, and they sold the area to Maharaja Gulab Singh ji (Dogra rulers dynasty until 1947). A number of Afghans/Pathans continued to serve Maharajas , in various civil and military services even until 47. My grandfather retired from Sikh Regiment after WW2 in 1945 and he got a job training troops in J and K for Maharaja's personal bodyguard , according to him around 30 % were Afghans/Pathans and also few Kohistanis and Nuristanis from Afghanistan . I have somewhere a book about that time written by an Afghan officer , it belonged to my grandfather /Dada Ji but it's in Urdu or Farsi , I can't read. From that time before 47. Lots of Afghans/Pathans from then NWFP (British India) also had dinner residences in Gulmarg, Baramula, Sri Nagar etc. Sadly by 47-48 over 90% went away to Pakistan or to other places like UK, USA . Now only names are left of mohallas or such locations.
