Vildhjarta - Dagger (Guitar Cover)

- Recorded with the Ibanez RG2077XL through Kemper PowerHead with SPDIF into RME HDSPe AIO. Dual tracked with 30% pan and slight additional compression and EQ in FL Studio. Played thoroughly with the stock bridge pickup (DiMarzio 7-B). The pickups aren't great but with a proper cleaning and coil adjustment they're alright. Playing with a coin pick provides some extra attack too!
Using D'Addario XL for 6 string (with 2x034): 012, 015, 020, 034, 046, 060.
Tuning is drop F with all fourths from C: F C F A# D# G# C

Made it look like child’s play. Absolutely nailed the tone, this wasn’t a cover. It was a performance.
This is THE single best Vildhjarta cover on TH-cam, from the tone, to NAILING the microtonal bends and using the lower strings for high notes - I can't believe how accurate and perfect this is, good job man
Wow thanks man!
What a cover. So precise. Amazing
There are no microtonal bends. Just regular half-step to whole-step bends. If they were truly microtonal, it would sound really out of tune with the rest of the music
Bruh, open the backing track and compare. You can barely hear his guitar. So no idea how it's the best cover on youtube. You are delusional lol.
T H V L L
This is good. I enjoy seeing you using the 24th fret on the low 7th string.
😅😅😅
Yes
Vildhjarta will make you tickle those long forgotten frets
this is like the coolest style of playing a guitar. Seeing this I really can appreciate how crazy this band is
Your subtle hybrid picking is perfect
It's so subtle you might actually call it accidental!
🤙
Drop F sounds pretty damn good on that 27 inch neck ;)
It’s so good it makes me laugh, idk if that makes sense but props to you, amazing work
Seeing your strumming is so damn satisfying! Such precision and technicality! Almost machine-like.
Being "machine-like" is only a good thing if you're a drummer. If a guitarist sounds like a machine, they're doing something wrong.
@@MFKR696 Doesn't apply to this style I think, look at the response on this video
@@ALEXANDERSTOEV Why would I care about the response? Did they pass some new international law where I now have to care what other people think? lol A "machine-like" guitarist is just plain boring. Think "machine" as in devoid of life. That might make it easier to wrap your head around what I'm saying. It certainly applies to this "style". A guitarist who plays all machine-like and without feel is a guitarist that I'm not going to waste my time listening to.
@@MFKR696 We already understood you're this type of person with your first comment
@@ALEXANDERSTOEV Who's "we"? I dunno if you noticed, but you're just speaking for yourself here lol. Also, if you already figured that out, then riddle me this... Why are you still talking to me?
Unreal man, fucking love sinister, dominating sound of Vildhjarta. Great playing, production all round.
My past self has great taste.
The palm muting for the chorus part is filthy
This is by far one of the hardest things I've ever tried to play for many reasons, you sir made it look like it was a beginner song. Well done.
Thank you, after all this time it's still one of my favourites!
The most unconventional guitar writing I have ever seen yet has so much GD attitude! I still grove side to side with a stank face at the 2:08 mark to this day. It is so brutal in its simplicity and chaos. Great cover!
The riff at 0:49. craziest shit ever
Your right hand technique looks so relaxed it's amazing
i watch this cover multiple times a day.
hats off, mate. this is an amazing effort! and that tone, my god...
Thanks! Don't forget the epic backing track by Buster Odeholm!
That was one of the sickest covers ever made
that tone is gorgeous
OMG, how did you manage to get this tone?! This cover should be pay to watch for the quality it has!
Haha! Thanks man =D I think it's the .60 string set + coin pick + raised coils and a 5150 with Green Scream. Don't forget there's the backing track guitars underneath as well!
@@Krisse how do you raise the coils in the pickup?
@@zerox435 The setscrews on the pickups act as coils. You can lift or lower them with an imperial sized hex driver (I had one included with the guitar) Just be aware that the threads on the pickups are quite fragile so don't use too much force!
@@Krisse thx man! I'm gonna try that!
If you'd pay to watch this, you're dumb as a brick.
You just kill me with your pick. Big S/o to Switzerland 🔥🔥
Absolute pleasure to finally see a play through of these riffs!
Learn some music theory and technique and this will sound like what it is...nonsense
@UCZsv-ADUrX7H2a52CpCP1gw ur such a fucking loser lmao
@@Str1ng5 theory doesn't mean shit if it sounds good, which Vildhjarta does to many many people.
@@Str1ng5 i did, still sound awesome. Go jerk of to ur prog and jazz nobody else likes
This is mesmerising. Holy smokes dude this is perfection. THALL
your picking is like perfect to a T goddamnit i always rewatch this
absolute beast cover dude!
This is one of my favorite TH-cam videos of all time
bro this is my favorite video of the year, thank you for this cover, this was amazing!
"not that it will matter more but this must be made clear this is not a confession this is more like a betrayal" sick cover
This is VIOLENTLY good. Bravo.
Absolutely insane man, ridiculously impressive!
Seems like everyone else is saying but they're right: your precision and playing are great. Good job, man.
Absolute freaking Chad. Incredible cover my guy
the precision you play this with is fucking unreal. incredible work.
amazing dude you got their playing down and that tone seems spot on for the mix killer dude
I literally watch this video wayyyyyyyy toooooooooo much
This tone is sick
That was killer! Nailed the tone and all. Top stuff mate! And good stuff putting the backing track in the description!
You bet, Buster's version is really sick and I probably wouldn't have even done this with the original.
Your covers are amazing. I'm a huge fan of HLB and Vild. Just subscribed and gonna watch the rest of your covers!
Many thanks man, my favorites too!
awesome playng. helped me learn what i consider to be one of the goat riffs which is the riff @:50
It`s amazing man! Cover "When No One Walks With You" + "All These Feelings" please!
It will be fkn cool dude!
Holy shit. Amazing work.
Well done on that patch! The tone is amazing. Great Video Sir!
Damn. So relaxed! Amazing cover of this song. You make it look easy bro!
Everyday lol 😂 im sorry
This cover without lyrics is the only one 😝that as good
😉 good job ty this is my forever playlist
Right hand finessing with that coin pick!
So damn insane. Amazing cover. Yea that tone is sick and the mixing turned out great!
@Krisse Man that was outstanding! Greetings from Australia
Thank you's from Finland!
thall
Also, the best guitar that Ibanez ever made.
DAMN
Super impressive man!
The way this song was written is so perfect. Just like your cover!!
clean and beautiful, well angle, good job keep it up!
I thought this song was pretty cool when I heard it about a year ago.. but till now, didn't realize the complexity, and you did a phenomenal job at it... impressive and awesome sound as well...
It's not complex. Just random gibberish you have to memorize
Man this puts my cover to shame haha👉🏼🤘🏼🙌🏽
Ah but you went with the original man! =)
Sicckkkkkk dude....
damn this is gold, that sound
Absolutely amazing!
this is sick man! did you add that section at 1:03? that shit grooves hard
Yes, had to play along!
Beautiful, thank you.
Thank you, beautiful.
Excellent tone, excellent playing!

Sweet killer tone!
Very awesome it's good job I subscribed to your channel well played 😉 nice job 👏 👏 👏
sick guitar ! one of the best ibanez ever
This sounds soooooo good man
Thats awesome!!
nicely performed! keep it up
I use .64 strings for dropped A already, but thats on a 25.5 inch 6 string. So I guess Vildjhartas sound also comes from a noodly low F.
I really loved seeing your technique and control!! I enjoy seeing guitarists that dont have a lot of wasted motion in their fret and pick hands.. I dont have as controlled a picking technique as you do(alternate picking) great job on the song too!! What gauge strings are you using?
THANKS MAN! D'Addario XL for 6 string (with 2x034): 012, 015, 020, 034, 046, 060.
@@Krisse seriously? This is a 60 on the low F?? Gotta try going that low when it sounds like that, must be super wobbly though no?
@@binzianer The wobble wasn't that bad if I recall correctly. More or less the same at drop E with .58 on the Chapman, and it's even got a shorter scale.
More Vildhjarta covers please.

This is such an amazing cover! I’m just wondering what you used for the backing track?
This (in the description as well): th-cam.com/video/9L2wzF149j8/w-d-xo.html
I just recognised where did you get the original track. This is from Buster’s drum playthrough video! Job done well!
Intro tabs? I’ve noticed you’re playing around the twelfth fret on the second f string instead of around 17 and 18 on the c
That is correct. I'm just playing the same pattern over the 5th string instead of the 6th, though this is the "incorrect" way compared to the original. I tabbed this and all the HLB covers with FL Studio but I'm afraid I don't have the files anymore.
OH MY GOD, THALLIUM THALL
ur a god
1:02 🤤
THALL . Subbed
amazing cover u made it look so easy, btw are you palm muting the low string, are you palm muting it? for me i cant get it to stop ringing out (for example from 0:14 to 0:25)
Many thanks! I guess I am sort of using my thumb/palm to mute the 7th string here. On occasion you could try using your index finger to stop the ringing, depending on fingering (lots of this e.g. in Ylva).
@@Krisse thank u so much!
Man how do remember these riffs fuck
Intonation checker V2.0
I saw DAGGER and thought - ahh great a 6 string song I can learn..... :(
I actually learned this with a Jackson PS-2, if I can do it, so can you! =D
