    Great job, you cover each and every aspect of the action, plus you caught all the railroad action. For a railfan, I couldn't ask for more.

    Excellent job of panning away from every single connection. The way you spent 3 minutes covering the boom sections being unloaded, only to pan away as they are being connected together, or to the carrier, genius camera/editing work. And don't get me started on how enjoyable it was to watch almost 4 minutes of train footage...I was on the edge of my seat. Top job for the camera work. Anyone can film a steady shot, it takes a really special guy to include such random shakes and twitches as you did. Bravo, sir, bravo.

    Wish you saw some key sections getting connected instead of panningg away. And how in blazes did this turntable pivot once it was fully assembled? It seems it was boxed in by that bridge and wall combo. So much preparation just to assemble this crane. WHEW!

    • @veryhighguy
      @veryhighguy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      answer to first question, This went on over two 12 hour days, I could only catch so much. i was there as a spectator. The second question is it could not do a full turn once fully set up but they did not need to do a full turn. on some of the other videos you can see how tight it was and how it moved. The crane was brought in as a last minute change of plan.

      @@veryhighguy Thanks for getting back to me - that means a great deal. I saw another video (not sure if yours) where it was sped up considerably. This answered many of my nagging Qs. I liked how the bridge sections were taken out on flatbed in toto. I guess that train was redirected while all this was going on.

    • @veryhighguy
      @veryhighguy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it was done on a bank holiday weekend so no traffic on the line, it is only freight traffic and it was closed. there should be 8 videos connected to this job, 4 standard play and 4 time lapse

I drove for a little bit in Canada many years ago, and was amazed at the lack of reversing they do over there and the sheer amount of space that there is in NA. No wonder there are no length regs over there for heavy trucks.

    I’m guessing that they chose a crawler over a mobile because of the smaller footprint and lower ground pressure?

    • @ChiDraconis
      @ChiDraconis 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Partly this is likely an economic issue or question; I once asked Project Manager about finding trailers and how they decide on them; Persons response is we just get whatever is handy;
      We had at the time of that era a conventional-crane that the operator stated we should get opposing-lay-cable to replace what was only one wire exposed that to my opinion did not need replacing; Later that day a hokey lift point for concrete block used for weight failed due to use of heated rebar for lift-point;
      I made 100 yards in only seconds with my tools rattling on the Klein Belt;

      @@ChiDraconis awesome you are here to tell your story . So many lives put at risk every day for the monetary decisions .
      I've worked every aspect of construction Priti Nair commercial industrial residential high steel the underground Communications even 8 miles under in the coal mines for a while . Everywhere you go it's the monetary decisions that put everyone and everything at risk . And when the government has their hand in it and prevailing wages are being paid everybody's income quadruples so do your taxes, the several prevailing wage government jobs I was so fortunate enough to end up working on . all's you ever heard was how overdue to the lack of funding everything was . Yet I carried a packet to suppliers to show them that this is a government job so you're not getting paid $0.08 for that nut you're getting paid $8 you're not getting paid $20 for that toilet seat you're getting paid 400 how does any of this add up all the bitching and moaning no money but the insistence of paying 4 to 10 times more then the public ? on top of that the government inspectors we had to deal with their number one rules we had to carry our paycheck stubs. to make sure our employer was paying the right wages for the job . the wage sheet for that one job was a list of 120 jobs + with add-ons. every single one carrying a massively different pay scale . my employer got caught and fined for shorting us and pocketing himself a big some of these wages. this job ended up costing him over 300,000 out of his own pocket a slap on the wrist compared to the money the company made. and then we were awarded as they say three more prevailing wage jobs one right after the other . and so funny over all the years the more safety rules the more loss of Limbs and life, we used to look out for each other and protect one another lot of the safety rules and regulations and monetary decisions have appeared to be a roadblock do this these days .
      on top of all that I have an uncle a Navy SEAL over 30 years most his life , around 9:11 disappeared never to be seen or heard of again and according to our government and our military there is no record of him or him ever existing .
      the truest thing I have learned over all these years peace light loving gratitude and the knowledge of pH balance freely belong to us all !!!!!!!!9 thank heaven for the foresight and the wings of flight given to you that day Nicholas !!!!!!!!9

    • @henryphelps3590
      @henryphelps3590 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No it could be because it's the biggest and only one big enough they have for the job or another one could have been scheduled that just wasn't ready got hung up in service or on another job . The tracks do make it more maneuverable in tighter spaces . The amount of rubber to carry what those tracks do, would spread out the heavyweight actually more you wouldn't have seen the trench plates or spansion plates whatever one likes to call them, laid out on the ground if they brought a rubber tire in. looked to me like the only spansion being used was under this tract crane. Tracks and tires are only used when being moved from one spot to another when in used the stabilizers and the pads they are on, greatly decreases the footprint while greatly increasing the ground pressure .
      Peace light loving gratitude,
