A grenade has a lethal range of roughly 40 feet, so even if he wanted to live there was no way it was going to happen, the pin was out and the spoon has a spring that throws it off once the pins off so if he knocked it out of deathsheads hand it would have gone off.

I know Wyatt had potential, but to see Fergus die actually brought tears to my eyes, since I just beat the "Kill Wyatt" storyline. Eitherway, Deathshead is a bitch. In the end of Old Blood, the ending of New Order made sense. Blazkowitz looked as though he needed more purpose before he could die. So I guess after killing deathshead he fulfilled that purpose, and he just gave up then...
I was kind of hoping deathshead would've captured Blazko in the mental hospital and experimented on him and made him superhuman and just have him break out and start killing nazis.

Killed Fergus @ I AM DEATH INCARNATE. The sole reason is simply: he was old, experienced and has already accepted his fate even before his brain was pickled. Wyatt was inexperienced, young and wasn't ready to die yet.
I killed wyatt because I thought fergus would be better equipped to getting us out of the situation, an army veteran. I thought Wyatt would have got us all killed.

It was a whole lot sadder when Wyatt died. His cutscene was so freaking bad, all the agonizing screams, the creepy look to his face being eyeless, etc. Then later one his scene in the robot was sad too, his character had such a more innocent vibe to him. I'm a sadistic fuck sometimes, but dang, for once something actually got to me. Good job on them. This game was awesome. I was a bit disappointed in the Wyatt timeline though, everythings nearly identical, just a few changed words really. I was hoping for some actual changes in the plot and perhaps even the ending.
I totally agree. On my first playthrough I chose to save Fergus, just because I liked him better, he seemed like more of a character. They really did do a great job on the story, but I wish the two timelines were a little more unique like you said. It would have been amazing to have two completely different stories to play through. None the less, it gave me a reason to play it twice... And damn, the end got to me both times. I truly hope they release another Wolfenstein, and hopefully with Blazkowicz as the protagonist. (You can hear a helicopter approaching after the credits roll, possibly implying Blazko is rescued.)
i chose to save fergus. i tought his experience in the field would come in handy later on. but then when he said he wouldve died for wyatt it didnt make me feel remorse. i just said "we make choices and we must live with the consequences"
It would have been pretty badass though. But imagine the problem for developers to make a gameplay for the power armor. It would have been too complicated gameplay wise.
Ive seen brutal things in video games that are pretty horrible but don't bother me much, but the brain suction scene is the pinnacle of graphic content, its gruesome and all the while you can't even imagine the pain that Wyatt or Fergus go through while they're having their brain drilled out while conscious. There are no words for how messed up that scene was.

My reaction to playing this game when I had to kill Fergus like that: Me: it feels like I want to cry. *Sees Deathshead in a big robot* Me: Oh, for fuck sake! I need to take on ANOTHER ONE?
Story wise this game was so so good! It's been a while for me that a shooter got me this emotionally involved into the storyline. I loved it the whole way through

Hate this ending. Not because if BJ is seemingly dying or not, but because of Deathshead. He's one of the most evil and cruel characters ever, having killed and tortures people way longer than an average lifetime. He's so old he can easily die by natural courses anytime. And when BJ finally gets to him, he gets such an almost pain free death by blowing himself up, while critically damaging BJ.
Deathshead and BJ are like Batman and the Joker. He is the only bad guy that can get BJ, too bad they killed him off so quickly. For an instance I thought Deathshead is gonna escape again, like every other games

Either way, choose to let Fergus or Wyatt die, you still get this somber scene. Having to end your friend's life to put them out of their misery living in a robot, no control of their actions.
Came here partly because some moron at MachineGames decided to make the skip movie button the same as the exil level trigger on Xbox One,(Accidentally skipped J's death because of it) well that and I was so pissed off at the ending that I couldn't be bothered watching the credits to see if anything happened after them. Fuck, what a seriously overrated game this is, anyone who says it's an "old school" shooter clearly never played many old school FPS', for one thing, I don't ever remember having to press a button to pick up ammo and health in Doom or Quake, seriously who thought that was a good idea, so annoying during fights. My opinion is nothing to do with difficulty either, didn't even die that many times during my first (and only) playthrough. All capped off with an utter shitstorm of an ending, really pisses me off in games when the character you've spent hours trying to keep alive dies (I'll assume he dies here), that type of thing is fine for movies, but not video games IMO.
Save Wyatt I feel was a better choice but still… Fergus when he says “please let me die” hit me in the feels. To see him like that. First time playing the game I’m not disappointed. Super AWSOME! Welp time to avenge Fergus by overthrowing a empire

I just finished it recently after buying it back in 2015. It's better than I ever thought it could be, since the last game I played in the series was Return to Castle Wolfenstein.
***** The difference is simply in who you picked to die at the beginning. The first robot with the brain has a different death scene. That's it. And maybe the scene where deathshead takes the brain.

He's been fighting for so long he knows that his life is meaningless when it comes to war. All that matters is the man to the right and left of you and trying to complete your mission. Wyatt was really fresh and young. To him, he probably still couldn't grasp that death was coming or accepted death as a possibility always there like Fergus did. Considering the world he would have to live in afterwards, I'm not sure life is that much better than death. He wasn't ready for combat. Then again, who is?
The way i see it, the saddest moment for me was when i realised that B.J fought this war for the verry change he always wanted to see in the world but still he died in the, he couldn't even see the world as he always wanted to see it... This is just touching for me
I hate that after all that you go through, you have to leave killing Deathhead to the damned cutscene. I just wanted to shoot him in the face and have it be over - I don't care about torturing him - especially after what happened with that stupid old woman that just wouldn't die. Oh, and the difficulty spike on the final boss was a bit harsh, which made me want to finish him off fast even more when I finally beat him. Great game, but the ending left a bitter taste... not as bad as BulletStorm though - that really was the worst ending ever.
There is a character that you hate from the moment the game opens and you hate him more and more as it progresses. At the end you reach him, stick a knife in him and pin him against a wall. Then a cutscene begins with your character talking to another whilst the bad guy is laying there in the background somewhere and still kind of alive. You just know he's going to escape and he does, and also completely screws you during his escape. They were setting up for a sequel, but it wasn't a big enough seller, so there never was a sequel. Anyway, it just leaves you with blue balls. The game was actually pretty fun, but if that sequel ever comes, I won't be buying it.
And 8 years later, James Bond would basically copy this same ending scene thematically for the end of No Time To Die and completely mess it up. This is a meaningful send off for a hero.

Yay!!! Anduin..... Keeping good games alive by torreting then complaining about them...... Dude seriously? I torreted one game, because I heard it was glitchy as fuck. (Rage) after tweaking it and editing some files for a few days, I got it to run flawlessly. Pretty good game! So what did I do? When xmas rolled around I bought it on steam and sent it to a friend with my file edits. If the game sucks, I could see saying screw that. But this was a pretty solid game.
Yes, game almost doesn't change on your choice. Major differnece between them two is that if you choose Wyatt timeline you get lockpicking and armor upgrades / Fergus you get "cable connecting" and health upgrades. That changes gameplay by a little but doesn't affect story.
Amazing. Billy was once able to roll underneath a giant robot's foot to get out of the way, having about 2 seconds to do so, and yet, he can't even think of running or kicking a grenade away, despite having about 7 seconds to think. Fucking amazing.

What a rip off. You get emotionally invested in Blazko's struggle, only to be paid off with him dying alone and abandoned. He should have gotten away and had his life with that girl. All that time and effort only to get an unhappy ending. Screw this.
I love Wolfenstein (ever since beating RTCW as a 12 yo), but it takes no more than 10 minutes for me to feel genuinely sick when playing some of the levels in WTNO with all the biomechatronic stuff. (As a science/engineering nerd it's impossible for me to just run through the labs without curiously studying the contents.) In RTCW you only got like 2-3 levels of biomechatronics, the rest of the game was mostly all cozy occult mansions with nice fireplaces, and cabins with hot meals.
Alica Ljungberg One of the best things about RTCW is that it varies the surroundings. The castle, the village streets, the crypt, the ruins, the science labs, the military base, the damb, the castle again (though a different part of it), etc. Yes, WTNO is kinda varied too, but it's not that memorable and everything is filled with that 'biomechatronic' stuff you mentioned. So everything becomes kinda blended and doesn't have it's own shine. Just my opinion, though.
pootis heavy pootis Perhaps the DLC could be that guy you save from the POW camp (I cant remember his name for the life of me, the old one with circle glasses?) creates some sort of machine that goes back in time and saves him before the explosion (Little far fetched) or maybe Fergus could not fire the rocket and instead go back for him, I havent played the wyatt timeline yet so i dont know if he could do the same (no spoilers please).
For a game that was a reboot of a series based on brutality slaughtering nazis. New Order had a very, very, very good campaign, with a ton of emotional depth. Really was a great game that surprised me with how well written the campaign was.
BJ had only three seconds to escape the live grenade. Let go of Totenkopf, and attempt to dove away. Even if he DID doce just a foot or two away, he'd still.be damaged heavily, since he "technically" (visual model) isn't wearing armor.
Blasckowitz and Strasse had met so many times that noone of them will left the battleground even if there is a timed granade in front of them. Blascko said in 1946: "One of us will die today" And in 1960: "I will force you to surrender"
Even after his death, Fergus still retains his native accent through the robot voice.

In the end of Old Blood, the ending of New Order made sense. Blazkowitz looked as though he needed more purpose before he could die. So I guess after killing deathshead he fulfilled that purpose, and he just gave up then...

Killed Fergus @ I AM DEATH INCARNATE. The sole reason is simply: he was old, experienced and has already accepted his fate even before his brain was pickled. Wyatt was inexperienced, young and wasn't ready to die yet.
I killed wyatt because I thought fergus would be better equipped to getting us out of the situation, an army veteran. I thought Wyatt would have got us all killed.

It was a whole lot sadder when Wyatt died. His cutscene was so freaking bad, all the agonizing screams, the creepy look to his face being eyeless, etc. Then later one his scene in the robot was sad too, his character had such a more innocent vibe to him. I'm a sadistic fuck sometimes, but dang, for once something actually got to me. Good job on them. This game was awesome. I was a bit disappointed in the Wyatt timeline though, everythings nearly identical, just a few changed words really. I was hoping for some actual changes in the plot and perhaps even the ending.
I totally agree. On my first playthrough I chose to save Fergus, just because I liked him better, he seemed like more of a character. They really did do a great job on the story, but I wish the two timelines were a little more unique like you said. It would have been amazing to have two completely different stories to play through. None the less, it gave me a reason to play it twice... And damn, the end got to me both times. I truly hope they release another Wolfenstein, and hopefully with Blazkowicz as the protagonist. (You can hear a helicopter approaching after the credits roll, possibly implying Blazko is rescued.)

Ive seen brutal things in video games that are pretty horrible but don't bother me much, but the brain suction scene is the pinnacle of graphic content, its gruesome and all the while you can't even imagine the pain that Wyatt or Fergus go through while they're having their brain drilled out while conscious. There are no words for how messed up that scene was.

Hate this ending. Not because if BJ is seemingly dying or not, but because of Deathshead. He's one of the most evil and cruel characters ever, having killed and tortures people way longer than an average lifetime. He's so old he can easily die by natural courses anytime. And when BJ finally gets to him, he gets such an almost pain free death by blowing himself up, while critically damaging BJ.

Came here partly because some moron at MachineGames decided to make the skip movie button the same as the exil level trigger on Xbox One,(Accidentally skipped J's death because of it) well that and I was so pissed off at the ending that I couldn't be bothered watching the credits to see if anything happened after them.
Fuck, what a seriously overrated game this is, anyone who says it's an "old school" shooter clearly never played many old school FPS', for one thing, I don't ever remember having to press a button to pick up ammo and health in Doom or Quake, seriously who thought that was a good idea, so annoying during fights.
My opinion is nothing to do with difficulty either, didn't even die that many times during my first (and only) playthrough.
All capped off with an utter shitstorm of an ending, really pisses me off in games when the character you've spent hours trying to keep alive dies (I'll assume he dies here), that type of thing is fine for movies, but not video games IMO.

He's been fighting for so long he knows that his life is meaningless when it comes to war. All that matters is the man to the right and left of you and trying to complete your mission. Wyatt was really fresh and young. To him, he probably still couldn't grasp that death was coming or accepted death as a possibility always there like Fergus did. Considering the world he would have to live in afterwards, I'm not sure life is that much better than death. He wasn't ready for combat. Then again, who is?
The way i see it, the saddest moment for me was when i realised that B.J fought this war for the verry change he always wanted to see in the world but still he died in the, he couldn't even see the world as he always wanted to see it...

I hate that after all that you go through, you have to leave killing Deathhead to the damned cutscene. I just wanted to shoot him in the face and have it be over - I don't care about torturing him - especially after what happened with that stupid old woman that just wouldn't die. Oh, and the difficulty spike on the final boss was a bit harsh, which made me want to finish him off fast even more when I finally beat him.
Great game, but the ending left a bitter taste... not as bad as BulletStorm though - that really was the worst ending ever.

There is a character that you hate from the moment the game opens and you hate him more and more as it progresses. At the end you reach him, stick a knife in him and pin him against a wall. Then a cutscene begins with your character talking to another whilst the bad guy is laying there in the background somewhere and still kind of alive. You just know he's going to escape and he does, and also completely screws you during his escape. They were setting up for a sequel, but it wasn't a big enough seller, so there never was a sequel. Anyway, it just leaves you with blue balls.
The game was actually pretty fun, but if that sequel ever comes, I won't be buying it.

I torreted one game, because I heard it was glitchy as fuck. (Rage) after tweaking it and editing some files for a few days, I got it to run flawlessly. Pretty good game! So what did I do? When xmas rolled around I bought it on steam and sent it to a friend with my file edits. If the game sucks, I could see saying screw that. But this was a pretty solid game.

Yes, game almost doesn't change on your choice. Major differnece between them two is that if you choose Wyatt timeline you get lockpicking and armor upgrades / Fergus you get "cable connecting" and health upgrades. That changes gameplay by a little but doesn't affect story.

I love Wolfenstein (ever since beating RTCW as a 12 yo), but it takes no more than 10 minutes for me to feel genuinely sick when playing some of the levels in WTNO with all the biomechatronic stuff. (As a science/engineering nerd it's impossible for me to just run through the labs without curiously studying the contents.)
In RTCW you only got like 2-3 levels of biomechatronics, the rest of the game was mostly all cozy occult mansions with nice fireplaces, and cabins with hot meals.
Alica Ljungberg One of the best things about RTCW is that it varies the surroundings. The castle, the village streets, the crypt, the ruins, the science labs, the military base, the damb, the castle again (though a different part of it), etc. Yes, WTNO is kinda varied too, but it's not that memorable and everything is filled with that 'biomechatronic' stuff you mentioned. So everything becomes kinda blended and doesn't have it's own shine. Just my opinion, though.
