- The field has been burned, mowed and is ready for the Georgia opener on September 7, 2024. There are millions of seed from the dove proso millet and there are still plenty of sunflowers with seeds that have been mowed and the seeds spread. The brown top millet is still standing, but some of it is dropping its seeds too so this field should be a smorgasbord for the dove.
It still did good considering this crazy Georgia heat and mostly no rain. Good video Cervus.
Thanks Bullets! Yeah I am thankful for what I got for sure. Now let's just see if the dove appreciate it.
Thanks for reminding me I need to get my new hunting license!
Yeah, I do too. At least the HIP and Migratory bird part.
Good millet crop. Hate that the sunflowers didn't do what you wanted. Maybe next season you can have better luck with them. Hope your field loads up and yall have a great dove season. I got a good many right now. Just need them to stay a week longer. My sunflowers did the best ever as I'm sure you can tell from my videos. Finches are rough on em. I'm probably about 50% or more wiped out. Will have plenty of seeds for shoots the first week or so which is all I really need. Going to expand things next year and try to get close to another acre in flowers!
Awesome on the expansion! Yeah I'm going to try a couple of different things next year too in relation to the seed. Of the good seed heads I did get the gold finches are tearing them up. I planted on May 1st and I need not plant that early next time. The Dove proso millet is great and I hope the dove find it. We'll have to see.
👍Good Luck
Thanks Mike!
Good luck with the country pigeons !
Thanks Charles!!
👍👍looks ready to go, hope y’all have a lot of Doves Cervus. I’ll be out dove hunting on the 7th but our field doesn’t look as good as yours.
I just hoping the dove show up. Thanks Lance!
Good look . Pa will open up September 2 . Will not get later in the season if I do. Just getting back to work was out 2 months about.
Drop couple videos from fair on older farm equipment plus couple short videos of walk around few odd ball equipment peace
I'll certainly check thous out James. I always like looking at equipment videos.
Sorry you had such a dry summer. Did I miss a video -- did you have an actual fire run through your property?
Also, what model tractor was that. Looks darn similar to my Grandpa's ol' Furgeson 35 that I started using when I was 12. This brings back memories. Thanks 👍
That is a Ford 4000 made in 1964. It is a 50 HP. I burned the field last Sunday. I didn't do any filming as I was way too busy working. It was just me and my friend burning off the field so I really had to keep an eye on things.
Always first Saturday in September every year is Dove season 👍🏻 I think in Alabama too.
Yeah that's true, but not how it is falling in TN or NC. It is just one of those things I guess.
@@cervus-venator I was really speaking about GA. with the first Saturday. It mostly hits the holiday because it is the first Monday I believe
@@carbonspyder235 You're correct. Labor Day is first Monday in Sept. Dove Season in GA is the first Saturday. I was just looking at all the other states except my on.
El clima esta muy loco en todo el mundo cervus, acá estamos con vientos caliente y es invierno😮
Sí, cuando salgo el calor es como el calor de un horno. Simplemente caliente y sofocante. Cuídate por ahí Tony.
It starts here Sunday. Hey Cervus. 👋👋🤝
My understanding is that most places are opening then too. But the GA regs clearly shows that state wide dove season opens September 7th. Si I have another full week to wait.
Cervus you need a small pond in the field this year dry as it is here water will be the ticket to hunt to start with. I’m trying to get the wardens to build a pond in one of the big fields here.
I'm on a hill top so I have no water source to do a pond in the field. If I had a kiddie pool I'd have to fill it with a hose, lol.
You need one of those industrial jugs in a cage ! About 250 gal to put in your pk up bed trailer , scrape a low spot where you have a wash, put a li er w/rocks and empty the "jug" , when it rains will replenish...hopefully. maybe add a few rain barrels to out buildings to catch wild water. Lol
@@charlesmorgan1879 Yeah that sounds like a plan, lol.
It's been really hot and dry here for 2 months. The cornfields are trash , barely above the knee .
Yeah I saw a neighbor combined his corn. It sure had a lot of weeds in it. It was a pivot field so he was able to water it during the dry months.
O YEA GO DAWGS 👍🏻
War Eagle!!!
Hey Cervus
👋🏼
I’m not getting any good reports on the WMA’s that’s planted here so far not many doves at neither one so far there’s sunflowers and millet planted at both locations.
Yeah, I'm not seeing a lot at the moment, but hopefully soon.
Our season opens September the first at 12:00pm why they open it at 12 is odd but every opening day is 12:00.
That is the way it used to be in GA, but they changed it several years ago. I like the morning shoot, but afternoon is fine too.
Well you just figured out another new way of making camo.😂😂😂😂 but the field is looking good.
Man I was filthy. When mowing the sunflowers thousands of bugs were flying up and landing on me too. What a messy job.
