Dimash is Kazakh, Kazakhstan is a postsoviet country in Central Asia, and got back his independence in 1991 after the Soviet Union collapsed. That's why Dimash speaks Russian fluently besides his native tongue. (Kazakh belongs to turkic language group). He sings here a Russian song on a Chinese stage in the Singer 2017 competition (not a talent show, instead a reality show for established singers). Here he is 22 yo. Many like myself; found DIMASH about 7 years ago and are "dears" what DIMASH calls his fans as they are dear to him like family.; and we closely follow his career. Dimash is from Central Asia in Kazakhstan. He speaks Kazakh, Russian, English and some Mandarin. Although he began his classical training at 5 years old, he also has had contemporary music training. There are more operatic pieces, but he did not want to choose one or the other and has instead chosen “popera”. I’m not sure what style you guys like, but Dimash is super versatile and has an amazingly versatile repertoire. His video masterpiece is The Story of One Sky, but he has very upbeat and fun videos such as Be with Me…. There is an exceptionally large number of styles and languages he has performed in. He tries to incorporate traditional Kazakh elements into almost every song he performs (over 17 languages I believe by now). Cheers from Canada!

His concert that occurred in New York City a few years ago contains all of his singing style. He truly is amazing. He also sings opera with a beautiful Russian soprano. Incredible.

Пишете "6 октав" и противоречите сами себе: 8-0+1=9, но в 0-й октаве вы назвали только одну ноту, а в 8-й - 2 ноты, так что получается 7 октав и три тона? Я в этом не уверен, но 7-то точно есть!

Dimash’s concerts are three and a half hours long, singing opera, pop, folk, rock, even a bit of rap. Dancing, playing instruments (he can play seven). He gets the audience singing, chats and interacts with them, comes down to shake hands at the end of a concert. But he does one off concerts, not several nights of the same concert. He keeps himself fit, with swimming underwater, running, taekwondo etc and absolutely takes care of his voice. Because sone of his songs are so vocally taxing, he mixes in some pop songs to give his throat a bit of a rest, I think.

Yes he is right from that north western Asia (Cossacks, Steppes) crossover area between India, Russia and China. He has a lot of classical/opera training, but also pop and jazz. He does some MJ style also. High, low and in the middle. This song is in the high area of his falsetto, but he also does flagiolet/whistle. His chest low is down around E2 with a bit lower using vocal fry and more using subharmonics. His midrange singing in the low tenor to high alto is full and beautiful with a lot of room to switch between voice types and a lot of dynamic range. This song was written and performed originally by Vitas, who I think is a Russian singer. Apparently this performance was not authorized by Vitas and will not be allowed any more, so that's all you get. It is a very odd song, but well suited to a competition. The way I see it, as the singer of the song, Dimash is portraying a sassy cabaret diva boasting about overcoming his adversities. The shocked faces were mostly from his competitors in the green room. Some of them knew the song and for them the surprise was when he went up a key 3 times instead of the songs original one time.

V humble kind generous etc. Liked your review Dimash was already v famous in many countries within his part of the world. He is Kazak, so Russia. Belarus etc etc is where he entered singing competions - ultimately winning the highest award there was. This performance was within a chinses competition name "The Singer" - the organiser invited Dimash to take part. He would have won, but because he was a foreigner he was not allowed to win. He came 2nd. They changed that rule following yrar. BUT his talent was recognised immediately. After his 1st performance the audience - all judges, spread the word out about his incredible talent. From that day on body guards were allocated to him. So already an accomplished singer and winner, then exploded into being known world wide. THAT was his true benefit from this competion. Dimash was already starting to expand his reputation, so this was perfect for him. Range - 6-7 octaves.at this time he was 21/22 yrs old. So his voice obviously has developed. He's 29 now, takes singing lessons everyday still. He believes all singers shud do that. If one is not available he takes himself thru exercises. Lots more to learn of him as a person.. Dimash is not any genre. He is a phenomenon. Your friend should accept that. Dimash can do anything as you tried to explain, but the problem is, a lot of singers refuse to admit that they are stumped because of Dimash. Their points of reference, unfortunately, is very narrow, so they cannot compare him to anything they know about. I would suggest, one, l that they expand their horizons to all kinds of music and then they’ll see that Dimash is at the top of it all. Every genre. Dimash is Kazakh, Kazakhstan is a postsoviet country in Central Asia, and got back his independence in 1991 after the Soviet Union collapsed. That's why Dimash speaks Russian fluently besides his native tongue. (Kazakh belongs to turkic language group).
He sings here a Russian song on a Chinese stage in the Singer 2017 competition (not a talent show, instead a reality show for established singers). Here he is 22 yo.
It's hard to believe, but he has improved a lot since then, because he's constantly honing his skills.

Dimash is from Central Asia in Kazakhstan. He speaks Kazakh, Russian, English and some Mandarin. Although he began his classical training at 5 years old, he also has had contemporary music training. There are more operatic pieces, but he did not want to choose one or the other and has instead chosen “popera”. I’m not sure what style you guys like, but Dimash is super versatile and has an amazingly versatile repertoire. His video masterpiece is The Story of One Sky, but he has very upbeat and fun videos such as Be with Me…. There is an exceptionally large number of styles and languages he has performed in. He tries to incorporate traditional Kazakh elements into almost every song he performs (over 17 languages I believe by now). Cheers from Canada!

His concert that occurred in New York City a few years ago contains all of his singing style. He truly is amazing. He also sings opera with a beautiful Russian soprano. Incredible.

Пишете "6 октав" и противоречите сами себе: 8-0+1=9, но в 0-й октаве вы назвали только одну ноту, а в 8-й - 2 ноты, так что получается 7 октав и три тона? Я в этом не уверен, но 7-то точно есть!

It's been five years since he sang Opera 2, and he has been the best vocalist on this planet for five years now. Read about him. He's from Kazakhstan, which one of the oldest countries, he sings in 14 languages now, but speaks well only 2. He sings in every genre known to mankind, including rap, within seven octaves. And a bit higher. He has more than 2.5 billion fans around the world, and at the same time he is the humblest person you'll ever meet. You heard nothing yet. This song is just an exercise. Dimash’s concerts are three and a half hours long, singing opera, pop, folk, rock, even a bit of rap. Dancing, playing instruments (he can play seven). He gets the audience singing, chats and interacts with them, comes down to shake hands at the end of a concert. But he does one off concerts, not several nights of the same concert. He keeps himself fit, with swimming underwater, running, taekwondo etc and absolutely takes care of his voice. Because sone of his songs are so vocally taxing, he mixes in some pop songs to give his throat a bit of a rest, I think.
You should listen to his “El Amor En Ti”. Dimash composed music for it too.

Dimash’s highest note is not this one. You can hear his highest recorded note in “Unforgettable Day”, specifically, the version at the Gakku music festival. He never sings this song the same way, and that day, he inadvertently hit a D8! That the note beyond the right edge of the piano.
He sings in just about any genre from operatic, musical, pop, jazz, rock, and rap, to ethnic, and often mixes and matches them within one song or one line even.

Dimash is from Kazakhstan and is thus fluent in Kazakh (Turkic related) and Russian (USSR member until 1993), speaks English and some Mandarin now. Yes he is right from that north western Asia (Cossacks, Steppes) crossover area between India, Russia and China.
He has a lot of classical/opera training, but also pop and jazz. He does some MJ style also. High, low and in the middle. This song is in the high area of his falsetto, but he also does flagiolet/whistle. His chest low is down around E2 with a bit lower using vocal fry and more using subharmonics. His midrange singing in the low tenor to high alto is full and beautiful with a lot of room to switch between voice types and a lot of dynamic range.
This song was written and performed originally by Vitas, who I think is a Russian singer. Apparently this performance was not authorized by Vitas and will not be allowed any more, so that's all you get. It is a very odd song, but well suited to a competition. The way I see it, as the singer of the song, Dimash is portraying a sassy cabaret diva boasting about overcoming his adversities. The shocked faces were mostly from his competitors in the green room. Some of them knew the song and for them the surprise was when he went up a key 3 times instead of the songs original one time.

Dimash was already v famous in many countries within his part of the world. He is Kazak, so Russia. Belarus etc etc is where he entered singing competions - ultimately winning the highest award there was.
This performance was within a chinses competition name "The Singer" - the organiser invited Dimash to take part. He would have won, but because he was a foreigner he was not allowed to win. He came 2nd. They changed that rule following yrar. BUT his talent was recognised immediately. After his 1st performance the audience - all judges, spread the word out about his incredible talent. From that day on body guards were allocated to him. So already an accomplished singer and winner, then exploded into being known world wide.
THAT was his true benefit from this competion.
Dimash was already starting to expand his reputation, so this was perfect for him.
Range - 6-7 octaves.at this time he was 21/22 yrs old. So his voice obviously has developed. He's 29 now, takes singing lessons everyday still. He believes all singers shud do that. If one is not available he takes himself thru exercises.

Dimash is not any genre. He is a phenomenon. Your friend should accept that. Dimash can do anything as you tried to explain, but the problem is, a lot of singers refuse to admit that they are stumped because of Dimash. Their points of reference, unfortunately, is very narrow, so they cannot compare him to anything they know about. I would suggest, one, l that they expand their horizons to all kinds of music and then they’ll see that Dimash is at the top of it all. Every genre.
