This really helped me replace the starter on my wife's 2001 Cherokee today. 1/2 hour start to finish. I am now her hero, but the mechanic in the video is the real hero.
A perfect video! Proper proceedures, torque settings, and socket sizes. I was wondering what kind of Murphyisms I would run into, but there aren't any. Just wish I had a lift...
Great job on the video. I had to remove the oil filter to get access to the ignition connector. Somebody had installed a longer filter than spec. And I haven't degreased so it's a bit harder to see everything on mine!
Thanks for the video. My starter, however does not have a little wire port on it. I tightened all bits, reconnected the battery, and I still only got a click. 97 XJ. Any advice
No macho BS video, Awesome to the point and inspired me to get the job done Now, Not as smooth as the author but a lot more informed to complete the project,,, Thanks!!!
If you can’t pull out the red tab on the starter because of mud and you don’t have wd40 push a flat head through the back of the connector. You’ll see a red ring push on that red part. There’s a little red nub on the side of the connector so you could try that too

Looked at a number of similar videos but this was the only one that explained the locking tab. Great detailed video. Thank you.

Thank you! No one tells you how to pull the red tab in ANY other videos. Mystery solved!
Thank you for this video. I watched it again and again, and was able to remove the old one and replace it with a new starter without issue.
Was just in my Haynes manual and didn't see any bold head sizes...
This cleared everything up for me. Thanks! Subd
Thanks so much! We fixed ours in the parking lot watching your video. Much appreciated!!
I'm guessing this is the 4.0L 6-cylinder, as the V8 is INCREDIBLY more difficult and far less access than on this video

Thanks for the video. My starter, however does not have a little wire port on it. I tightened all bits, reconnected the battery, and I still only got a click. 97 XJ. Any advice

Replacing my battery now so now is time to replace my old starter
If you don’t have one of those censored wrenches what should you do?
Easy enough, thanks for the great video. Would have been easier without satans socket driver but i made do.
Thanks a lot for your video ..

Thanks for the help
I can't see how you did the red tab and I can't figure it out.
Fantastic video! Needs more clarity on removing that electrical with the red tab though! Had a bitch of a time figuring that out.
