There was a story told by a driving instructor... He was giving some kids driving lessons and one was driving. They came up to an intersection and the light had turned yellow. Instead of stopping, the kid kept going, as the light turned red! The instructor asked him why he ran the red light. The kid pointed behind them and there was a tractor-trailer 10 feet from their rear bumper!!!! If he had hit his brakes, the truck would've been in their back seat!!!! Smart kid!!! :-)
Many years ago in south eastern side of NM...I (17 yr. old) stopped at a stop sign. There were 2 vehicles on the highway, me and a oil truck coming ..other than that I could see to the east coast....what did I do? yep, pulled out in front of that 18 wheeler. He laid on his horn, passed me and I know cussed me to high heaven. I learned a lesson. When I told my dad, I learned another lesson.
exactly why after 40 years behind the wheel i hung it up... people are out of their minds on the roads these days...my hats off to ya driver if you're still jamming gears....
I drove truck for 37 years. This stuff happens...EVERY. DAMN. DAY. Well, not hitting the deer...that's only every now and then. Deer are smarter than 'most' car drivers.
This must be a fraction of what you deal with on a daily basis, im sure. In the case of hitting that deer, I believe truckers are trained not to swerve and to just hit it straight on due to the fact they are about 20 times the weight of an average vehicle and swerving would result in the truck possibly rolling on its side or jacknifing and losing all control.
Virginia Dude Speaking of Bambi, me and another trucker flipped that script. Saw Bambi crossing the road. He would have crossed safely had I not honked my horn, he stopped to see where that horn was coming from. He found out real fast where that horn was coming from and I pulled to the nearest pilot to assess the damages. Then 5 minutes later a trucker pulled next to me who killed the mother looking for Bambi. We took solace knowing we brought the family together in the end.
@@LentPanic7 Had friend do that in his Car. Hit the Horn, Deer fell in front his brand new car. $5000 damage as he rolled over top of him. Whole car was bowed underneath
Mr plow. Come to Australia, we have millions of stupid kangaroo's waiting roadside for trucks to drive into them, you'll love it, they make bigger bangs than that.
I guess the rules have changed. Now it's if you pull up to a stop sign people ask themselves can the oncoming traffic stop for me if I pull out in front of them. It used to be if somebody is coming don't pull out.
This was 2016! 2020 now and the stupid level bar has really been raised. You can't relax for 1 minute. My dash cam has a 32 gb card and my video's just keep on piling up on it. Yet the stupid politicians in Washington want truckers to carry 2 million dollars worth of insurance and fortify our trailers. All we have is a seat belt and our wits!! And of course our dash cams!!!
The first one wasn't a near miss, aye! The rest were bad drivers not paying attention and some gear jammin' to prevent a car crush!!! (and I don't mean a crush as in, admire it, either...)
Strange how 4 wheelers and some big truck drivers let all the cars go by then pull out in front of a truck, one of the first things I noticed years ago before I retired from this crazy job, wonder how many if made to choose would take their family by the hand and run out in front of 6 or 7 Elephants running at full speed ?
donald day I asked someone once if they weren't in their 4 wheeled safety bubble would you walk out in front of a moving truck, then I came to my senses and realised of course they would.
They need to come up with a better and new way for shipping,. Specially with all these new stupid truckers these days,. Even if it's with the tesla semi,. All I gotta say is the word swift and you'll know what I mean,. Only good truckers these days are the old school ones and there reaching retirement soon and than there's nothing left but idiots,.
I don't get why in the comment section everyone feels bad for the truck driver... it isn't like he didn't choose this job; he lives in America, practically, he could have chosen any job he wanted. I could sympathize if he was under indentured labor of some sort but that isn't the case he chose to be a truck diver and he could find a new job at any time or go to school at any time to get a new job. That's the beauty of the United States.
Seriously? You expect the trucker to try and swerve (and put their life in danger) just to miss a deer? Even if he took his foot of the pedal he most likely would've still hit the deer.
BLACKNESS 4life Learn correct grammar before talking mad shit but apparently you don't know what the hell sarcasm is LOL so you got triggered but assume whatever you want you clearly pay my bills so you know me right?? Carry on you sad human.

Always know what’s going on behind you.
Holy smokes…those guys passing.
I'm very respectful to big rig drivers and I really understand the stress that each one of y'all have to put up with nothing but fools on the road
Thanks

except for the ones that are dead...
I love the way you pay attention and anticipate stupid people. Nice driving, be safe.
It's crap like this that us truckers have to deal with every day
Thats why people die every day from getting hit my 18 wheelers cause they're too stupid to not look for 18 wheelers
People are INSANE
that one of the reason I decided not to go back driving big truck!

I am going to hit Bambi before I swerve around him.

absolutely, unless it's a school bus or someone in the road...i'd put er in the woods first...
Man you restrain from laying on the horn a lot better then I could
Same thought
Your like a giant magnet for these fools, lol.
its called krill attractant, you know, hard on the outside soft on inside and no brain
the stupidity is universal, we have the same in France. be quiet and drink cool
If I was in all those situations, I would've blown my horn at all of them, except the deer
horn prevents lolts of animal strikes

Lol rip deer at the start
People may not believe it but none of what happened on this video is "unusual". People are really that stupid!
Wow 1:50 was extremely close! Damn
I feel your pain bud, I put up with this kind of shit for 25 years.
40 years.... 4million miles..... 57 deer...... enough said.
Just goes to show that some people are inherently stupid and don't realize it.
Only on days that end in Y. The studid never stops.

Thank You !
M. 0:13 You killed a deer
I can't fuckin' believe it! A truck driver listening to Nickelback, and NOT Willie Nelson on the sound system (?!?!). Amazing!
So, just another day in the saddle, eh? lol
Hello,
Can I have your permission to feature these clips on my channel? Also, thank you for everything you do being in the trucking industry

Love the sound of the engine break
That sound is from the gearbox.
Was this the truck that almost hit a train at a crossing with the crossing lights not working
* Hits Deer *

Didn't really want to see a deer get hit by a truck. Thank you.
A pro driver don’t swerve for deer !

So what’s the problem? To me this is everyday driving.

Yeah so, there's a rope to the left of you on the ceiling of the cab, if you pull it a loud noise will emit and scare off deer, and idiot drivers.
Mal conductor
Dick just hits the deer and goes. Could've avoided that big time.
with that truck and speed there was a danger that the truck flips
Seriously? You expect the trucker to try and swerve (and put their life in danger) just to miss a deer? Even if he took his foot of the pedal he most likely would've still hit the deer.
You're right that deer could've easily avoided that, now he had to fix his bumper...
