I'm a new rider at 50+ and the last thing i want to ride is a cruiser or a HD. Not jumping on a 1000cc sport bike but the nakeds and sport bikes appeal to me the most.

Post retirement. Rode a Norton Dominator 99 SS full of Norton racing program parts. Picked a built 02 Daytona 955i, one owner, engineer type, low miles.
Hope to make a few passes at the strip. Lifelong dream, last big bucket list item.
Got the love of my life and our great son who’s grown now. So a little bit more racing is my remaining big goal in this world.
Will it run single digit quarters close to 150? I’m going to have fun finding out. And like my wife & son, it’s one more blessing in my varied life.
And riding jockey is actually a stretching exercise for my back.
My bike is my freedom. Fortunately I still have some muscle, vision and lightning reflexes so I’m going to let it rip one more time.
I might even get into the low 10s. For under $10k, on a nice looking, “ordinary” Triumph triple rat bike.
      Why not?
I know I will lose to a McClaren or a Gixxer but I’m not getting shut down by an “ordinary “ liter bike, if there is such a thing.
I was drag racing my bicycle at thirteen and never completely forgot it.
Now I’m going to take a serious go. Because I’m still too young to be old.
      -Matt’s dad

Hey Mr. Moto, I'm a 75 yo white guy and ride a solid Red 2013 CBR600RR. I wouldn't trade it for anything. I'm not sure that I fall into ANY category. Over the years (40) I've crashed a few and always can't wait to get back on after the road rash heals and bones grow back. My non motorcycle friends think that I'm nuts. Love your channel. Thanks.

This was a cool video idea. I can relate in so many ways!
I started riding 4 years ago, I always thought sport bikes just weren't for me and that they looked weird. I then had an opportunity to trade my KLX250 for a mint 2002 CBR 600 F4i. I decided sure ill try these weird looking bikes out for a bit and sell it. I fell in love with 4 cylinders, the power delivery, the agility, the stopping power, everything about them was fine tuned. I then understood why they have such a following. Im on the look out now for a 2004 zx10r just from you mentioning it many times, lets hope it doesn't kill me. Ride safe man!

I know the GSXR gets clowned on because of the flip flop, Jaxed juice monkey’s with no shirt and shorts doing 180mph pulls on the highway, but that’s not all of us! I love my bike. The only other bike for me in the future is an RSV4. Not just saying that cause of yours. Those bikes are a piece of art to me and I need to have one someday soon! People like to call the XR a starter bike but, I consider it a finishing bike. My starter RD250 was way faster.

lol, You really have nailed it on the head! I love my 04 Yammy R1. It was my second bike and now my forever bike! And ya...never enough helmets, gloves and gear. For me its not about the speed, its the power the bike yields and the amount of attention required to ride it. You truly have to live in the now! You, the bike and the road. The only frustration is the culture of Harley riders who refuse to wave back to anyone outside their culture lol

I started riding "sport bikes" when they were called motorcycles. My first "sport bike;" was an RZ350. At the time it was the bike to have. 36 years later I have owned an R1, Aprillia V4, CBR1000 and so on and on and on. What is a sport bike? Shit I don't know I still call them motorcycles. I have drifted in and out of crews, but it has always been a mix of bikes and riders. Some on hyper motards, some on nakeds even some super fast guys on Harleys. I think that if you label a person as a sport bike rider, your excluding riders who ride with a crew or by themselves who don't ride a bike with a faring or is a race replica. I think a sport bike is in the rider and not what they ride. So let's change the term to "sport riders".

My first sport bike was a clapped out CBR 600. I got it as a "project bike". Never got it finished and just bought a '12 ZX6R and rode. Interestingly enough, that CBR was probably my tenth bike. I had two Harleys before that and still have one of them. I ride a ZX10R now. I guess that makes me an outlier? 😂Honestly, I love all motorcycles and will ride until I die or simply cannot throw a leg over one.

New Tuono would be one of my dream bikes but lack of dealer network absolutely kills it for me. Out of all of Washington state (Seattle incl), there are grand total of 2 dealers. Obviously Aprilia isn't very serious about US market.

@@adobomoto that would be fun. Hey man, test ride a Tuareg 660 or something like that too if you can. Even if it’s just a rental or test ride. People will get a kick out seeing you on such a different bike and plus Washington has some beautiful trails and BDR sections for you to play on while making some interesting content. 👍🏾

I think that no matter what type of bike you ride you gonna reach a time where you start thinking about stop riding
but the second you ear an engine rumbling
the second you put the helmet on and you get that nervous inside you
    Thats why we ride

I started on a Suzuki boulevard. I hated dragging floorboards and the way the bike felt at 80. I was miserable commuting in that thing. So I quit riding for 4 years.
Suddenly weather was nicer, roads were in better shape, and I wanted to try again. This time I wouldn't settle. 2nd season on my 675 street triple r and I love every second on the bike, even when morons forget I'm not a speed bump. (Though triple digits and humidity suck on slow/stopped traffic.)

I would define myself is a sport bike rider. Although I own a Gen 2 Busa and rock an Icon jacket, I'm definitely not a squid 🤣🤣🤣. Here in Japan we have a very large countywide "All Hayabusa" event once a year. Covid has kind of ruined it as of late but hopefully we'll have one this year... I just feel that Harleys and cruiser type bikes are for old people an although some work consider me old, physically I'm much younger and mentally I can conform to anybage group 30 and above.
