This sounds about right. The attack ships weren't super effectove against cruisers one on one. Also, the Connie-refit channeled it's phasers via the warp core by that point so they were much more powerful than TOS.
@@aaronatwood9298 that makes sense. The switchover to having phasers drawn from the warp core leaves a glaring problem if the warp core is down. Battery reserves using the EPS taps and additional fusion reactors as back up totally tracks.
I don't see this as realistic. A Galaxy Glass was obliterated by 3 of them and that's with 2 Runabouts helping to defend it. TOS Connie dies from two poloron beam hits. TMP Connie dies from 2 beam hits and a torpedo at best.
Agreed but perhaps to make the game somewhat playable/balanced we can assume these ships were given the shield upgrade that prevents the shield bleed through the Odyssey experienced
The Galaxy was destroyed because it was rammed after spending 15 minutes or so with no effective shields. By the time the War broke out, pretty much all Dominion tech had been countered and was no more effective than conventional technology. A Galaxy would steam roll 3 Attack ships at this point (even Runabouts could threaten them.) This battle is roughly how it would pan out if the 23rd Century shields could block phased poleron weapons. A Ds9 era Miranda would be somewhat superior to a single Attack Ship, so a circa 2290 Connie would stand a good chance IF its shields could block poleron weapons (which of course they couldn't but Bridge Commander lacks the mechanics to model this.)
Yeah. I don't think the game engine can simulate shield-piercing beam weaponry. The tech level discrepancy between the Connies and the Dominion Attach Ships should favor the Dominion massively.
@@ransom182 That's what I was going for since phased beam weapons cannot be done in Bridge Commander. 1 or 2 shotting either Connie would require either 1. Making the Connie's far weaker than they should be or 2. Give the Attack ship a ridiculously overpowered poleron beam which would screw the balancing entirely
@@Skirne If we ignore the phased aspect of Dominion weapons and assume the Connie's shields could absorb the hits like any other weapon, a TMP Connie circa 2290's would still have a good chance against 1 Attack Ship, its much larger and carries far more weapons. An Attack Ship circa Dominion War could be half threatened by a Runabout so without a shield piercing advantage they were actually quite weak
The TOS Enterprise fought hard, but once her own shields wore down, those phased polaron beams when through her like a knife through butter. The Movie Enterprise actually surprised me. I thought she'd suffer the same fate, it would just take longer. But nope, she held together very well, and blew the Attack Ship back to the Gamma quadrant.
I honestly think a circa 2290's Connie Refit could take a single Attack Ship, if the phased weapons were not an issue. A Ds9 era Miranda would be superior to an Attack Ship so a TMP era Connie would stand a good chance if it could block the poleron beams. Attack ships were actually pretty weak without this advantage

By TWOK, they installed phaser Batteries to keep phasers online if warp core was down.

@@adamlee2111the TOS should have won. You set the shields to 75%. You never boosted them.
