After 32 years in the seat of a truck I will say this much about DOT. Yes, they can bust your time frame so allow for that and get out of bed. Just as you figure in traffic, weather, fuel stop, and a host of other hold ups consider a check as well. Have your paperwork well organized and make things go faster. Be PROFESSIONAL, we all have bad days and DOT can have them as well. I have always thought of these people as my friends because they see that I'm doing the safe thing as well as the other drivers on the road. It never hurts to have another professional look over your truck who may catch something that gets you home to your family and get those traveling along with you home to theirs.
I never had much of a problem with DOT, except for the east bound I-70 scales in Cambridge Ohio, which I heard is closed up and out of the ground now. I've been pulled over and checked, mainly in Ohio and Indiana, and once each in Maryland and Kentucky, but no serious problems and never got a citation. A bad attitude instead of professionalism will always make the situation worse.
I was fortunate. I joined facebook and was lucky enough to find that other classmates from the high school and attended had set up a website and i found a couple of my friends from elementary.then after that within a year i found about ten of my old classmates i went thru school with. I was lucky enough that i went thru the same school.district my whole childhood. Be safe and god bless man
Questioning Orwell's model year. @10:01 the decal on the side of the truck says VIN FN171620. That would make it an '85 model year, the letter "F" designates year 1985. If it were an '84 it would be VIN EN171620. The letter "E" designates 1984 model year. Wondered about that for awhile now. At any rate, great channel, love the vids. Keep on truckin'!
I'm a military army veteran myself special forces and I have also family members that are in the military that's good that you support are our family that are veterans just like you appreciate it
I’m 14 and I got to say man you are such an inspiration to me and probably to others. I love cabinets also I plan to own one when older or go into trucking
DOT (Down On Ttruckers) ruined my day more times than I would like to remember. Good work Steve. Thanks for all you do. You don't have to take the time to reply back. Just wanted to let you know. We love you and were still watching down here in SW Middle Tennessee.🇺🇸❤🚂🚛
Damn Steve, u sound so out of breath I'm not sure if it's from a cold or being out of shape. U gotta take care of urself brother & get healthy. Good video. 👍

While Orange juice tastes great there’s tons of sugar in it and Popeye’s chicken is not the greatest thing to consume and then sit for hours behind the wheel. Try if you can to bring a cooler full of good stuff - milk, cereal, lunch meat etc. I’m sure he’s aware of all this but sometimes it’s hard to break habits..
@@jaybd9329 I will add that Orange juice contains a lot of Acid, which can mess up your Stomach, Blood, and Body chemical balance... Consider "All Things in Moderation"!!!
I used to envy flatbed drivers when I was running dry van until I was at a roofing place in PA sick as a dog, pouring rain lightning, windy, cold a real crap day and I was sitting in my warm dry cab as they loaded my dry box and that driver was getting pounded as he had to strap, chain, tarp that load. He might as well have been swimming he was so drenched and I knew at that moment I was the one who had it good.
First truck I ever drove was a cabover looking for a good solid cabover plan on using it running loads. You be safe out there. Love your content very interesting the camera views are great as well.
I woke up and saw your video. Always very interesting to watch. Love the camera views 💗 Have a great day and Thank you for letting me ride along. God Bless
Got stopped by the DOT when I was a transit bus driver and I was laying over at the end of the line and right before I was to leave the end and the DOT showed up and checked the bus I was driving and found violations and scraped the inspection stickers off and told me that the bus has to be towed back to the garage and I didn't have a working radio and had to walk to the bar at the end of town and call my control center to send the tow truck-it took from 2:30pm until 8:30pm for the tow truck to arrive, hook it up and take it to central maintenance to get the repairs-I got back to the garage at 11:30pm and because of having to report Monday morning at 4:15am they told me that I was excused for Monday and went home to bed
After you get past that 10 year class reunion only the close friends will stay in contact. I've reconnected with a few after many years but time changes everything. You wish you could go back but with the knowledge of what you have learned over the years. Stay safe out there and keep the great videos coming!
My family & I were ‘Corporate Nomads’ moving every 2-3 years. We moved over Christmas Break of my Jr. year to a new town & HS. Could begin to tell you where anyone from my previous HS are much less remember them. Of my ‘new’ HS, only 1 of the crowd I ran w/I know where they are & a few from my class (700+ Senior Class) I know where they are. Having jumped around moving, it was hard to make or keep friends; & it was rough, very rough trying to fit in. One highly popular girl (her Dad was the Founder & CEO of a local drug store & car parts chain, so they had money $$$$$$$$) was HS Homecoming Queen three years running. Once she got to the local I University she just disappeared, far as I know, she’s still alive.
@@jamessimms415 I joined the Army fresh out of high school, 40 years ago, and ran into a few former classmates in there. After getting out, I still see a few classmates around town, and some almost everyday, but with those exceptions, the vast majority of them, I haven't seen nor heard of for over 40 years.
Yes they sure can. I no they have a job to do but some love there job to much and get on a power trip which they can write a brand new truck for something if they want to . Hope all the family is doing good and have gotten moved or almost moved in but keep the video's coming
I lost contact with a lot of people when I left home. It's funny cause I go back for the annual car show and they all remember me. We had a "all class" reunion last year and everybody was like "I wonder what happened to you'!!
Enjoyed the video, as always. It might be time to treat Orwell (and yourself) to new drivers seat :). That one looks a little long in the tooth and a little short on padding lol. There's a fine line between "broke in" and "broke down".

Just like you said, i finde my self thinking about them from time to time, and it's hard to find them cause the getting married, changes their surenames, move and stuff you know. So only thing you can do i just hope they doing well and that life treats them good. In one way or the other all of those have meant something to you. Good, so many i wish i could run into again and like heeeey , it's you from highschool or whatever. I'am gone stop babble :P Great vid as usual. I love to follow you'r adventures on the roads.

Rust on wheels flaps damaged or missing primer over damage rust stains on tanks all are DOT red flags!!! Keep your rig clean and KEEP THE AIR LINES OFF THE CATWALK!!!

Depends on how you look at it.
Tanker yankers have it much easier than both, having the load that loads and unloads itself.
Looks like you could use a new driver's seat in the cabin over,
