A very important part of our military heritage from the Great War. A fitting tribute to those men who formed up under Hill 145 on Easter Monday, 1917. Masterfully done, a virtuoso Michael! I've always studied the Great War from two perspectives, one as a Newfoundlander, and two as a Canadian. In 1949 that really merged into one. But before this, during the Great War when so many young men from NFLD served King and country in the Newfoundland Regiment and the Royal Navy, many, like my Grandfather,..served in the CEF. Working in Detroit Mich., crossing to Windsor, Ont and joining the CEF.
So many epic battles throughout the Great War and WW2,..I could only wish you will write more along these themes, entwined with original footage never hurts to bring home the message. RTS

Thank you so much for the kind words. I have written seven songs that will be available on an album by spring....The songs remember Vimy Ridge, Dieppe, Beaumont Hamel, The soldiers who rest in Holten Canadian War Cemetery, The Battle of Kapyong, 14 who are buried in Russia who died during the Siberian Expedition (1918) and a Mother's Lament. please check out my song Newfoundland Found if you have not already. cheers

My wife and I just left the national war memorial in Ottawa, we were there to partake in the ceremony of the battle of Vimy Ridge, she serves in the military and was taken back by this song, it is so beautiful and in person even more amazing, thank you Mr. Moore, performance well done.

Hello Baxter Rice. That really was an amazing performance, eh? I was moved to tears as I listened to it. I couldn't help but imagine the horror those boys experienced. Exactly five years ago, my wife and I were at the Canadian National Vimy Monument for the 95th anniversary memorial service. Governor General David Johnston, dozens of Canadian service men and women, and 5,000 Canadian high school students were there on that day. We stood under a cold, rainy, windy sky as Lizzy Hoyt played her spell-binding composition, Vimy Ridge. I wish all Canadians could find a way to make that pilgrimage. Tonight we heard Oliver Pigott and Christopher MacFarlane do an spectacular rendition of this amazing song. I think Michael J. Moore penned a thoughtful and heartfelt song. It will certainly be one of the songs I will revisit about this time, every year from now on. Thanks for that beautiful gift, Mr. Moore.

I'm not sure if your reply was meant for me. If so, no that wasn't me at the hotel. And I'd like to add something to what I said above. I must correct my error. Firstly, we were at the Canadian National Vimy Memorial, not Monument. Also, it won't only be the Battle of Vimy Ridge anniversary reminding to seek amazing songs like this. Remembrance Day, as well as other noteworthy anniversaries will give my grey matter a kick. Given any relevant excuse, it is truly my pleasure to let this incredible song to remind me of our dear lads. Thanks again. Damn, we've got great songwriters in Canuckistan!

Last night we heard Oliver Pigott and Christopher MacFarlane do an spectacular rendition of Michael J Moore's "Vimy Ridge". Mr. Pigott's singing was spot-on, with a decent amount of gravel thrown into the voice. One can easily imagine one of the NCOs calling out to the boys. It is utterly believable. Just beautiful guys. Thanks

Michael - I'm the guy who uses your song in my Vimy Ridge talk - both grandfathers fought at Vimy. And here is one to bring a smile to your face. My brother, the family historian, is in Europe now. His goal in life is to walk the Grange Tunnel, where one of our grandfathers accessed the battle. Only problem is - he is 6'5", he has a bad back, AND, he is claustrophobic!!!. I wish him well. And, lastly, thankyou for this super song.

Great Canadian inspired song Michael! Really inspires a visit to Vimy Ridge . Grandfather was at Vimy but ,like a lot, rarely talked about it. Was at the war museum on April 9th - sorry I missed your performance downtown.
