just a tip you can make the rotation infinite if you click the little clock while holding the ALT key, then down in your Layer Menu will appear text, there you just type "times*250" or try different values to find the one that suits you more
I was struggling because I typed “Shutter” in effects and was confused why I couldn’t change view to rendered. Spent like 5 minutes only to notice he typed shatter. Thick accent
@@SmertimbaGraphics This was so unexpected. This was so awesome! edit: I am going thru your videos (so much good stuff, wish I had time to watch all)... Looking for something that is like when the Predator in the movie is camouflaged, you can still kind of see him, it looks maybe like light and images are wrapping around him to make him look invisible, then, when he shuts of the cammo, it is like he comes out of nowhere, like out of a mirror, or like the mirror effect turns off(?). I'm sure you've seen at least one of the Predator movies! You have a transition video, but it isn't quite what I need to know.
AMAZING!!! Thank you, Smertimba Graphics for this MUCH MUCH easier way to extruse logos!! I was so tired of copying and pasting 45+ paths. Thank you!!!
Hello again, I was trying the method again from the other video, sadly it just won't work as an illustrator file, too many layers it ended up overwhelming AE. So I looked up this method instead and it seems to be working. There is a problem I am facing though, along some of the edges of the image there appears to be cracks or openings that I can see through, any idea what is going on and how to fix this?
Hmm, does it also appear after being rendered or just in the preview? Are you referring to this video you've tried: th-cam.com/video/jlbbQ0REUrc/w-d-xo.html
hello, just wanted to thank you for the fantastic tutorial and a question! is it possible to have a different texture on the two sides of the spinning object?
Hi, you can assign different layers to front and back, first add a new layer, add whatever effects you want to it, then in shatter - texture settings select it as back layer and choose effects & masks property next to it.
It's a bit tricky, but possible. add the same logo file(or whatever it is) right click, transform, flip horizontal, then precompose the flipped logo and turn off its visibility, then in textures settings set back layer to that flipped/hidden layer and it should work

Hello, add the same logo file(or whatever it is) right click, transform, flip horizontal, then precompose the flipped logo and turn off its visibility, then in textures settings set back layer to that flipped/hidden layer and it should work
Great video, cheers. I have a question - how do you set the anchor point to the middle of the object (half way into the extrusion) so it rotates around that point, rather than the anchor point being on the front face?
In that case you should add a camera layer, then a null object, make it 3d and parent the camera to the null, then animate Y rotation on the null object, it will make it rotate evenly on all sides
Don't add a solid layer as the background and check out this quick video to know how to export a transparent bg: th-cam.com/video/irSXg-jzHOQ/w-d-xo.html
Any way to make the back side not look the same? For example I am spinning an emblem with text so when its showing the back side it would be cool if I could make that a solid color or a gradient

Bravo! Thank you for the tutor. Just one thing though. I rendered it but couldn't retain the original color on a transparent background. It showed a lot of blue colors. How do I render and still keep the color without a BG?
Thank you so much for the video!! I'm having troubles where I can't see the logo after I change the Shatter view to render. Is there anyway to solve this problem? Thank you!
@@SmertimbaGraphics I somewhat found a solution. I think the problem is that my logo is white and the side color I tried to do was a dark grey/black. So when it rotated to the back it was not white but the dark grey color. I fixed it by making the side color a white. It doesn’t have the depth and dimension like before but it works.
my logo almost fully dissapears when i place the effect on it and fully disappears when i change it to rendered. I still followed the full tutorial to see if it would come back but I can't see it at all now. Any fixes? Thank you btw, very clear and quick tutorial
Is there any way to make the logo not horizontally flipped when it rotates? My logo has text, so when it flips to the backside of it the letters are backwards - thanks!

You can increase the distance between keyframes to slow down the rotation speed

I've seen people comment about that before, but I could not replicate the issue on my end, still don't know what the cause is🤔
@@SmertimbaGraphics I somewhat found a solution. I think the problem is that my logo is white and the side color I tried to do was a dark grey/black. How can I make my logo after creating this effect, speed up the animation and then make it infinite loop??
To speed up the animation you can decrease the distance between the keyframes and to loop you can add a loopout expression to the rotation property
is there a way to make it spin faster instead of slower for a gif animation export
Sure, decrease the time between the keyframes to speed up the animation
@@SmertimbaGraphics Do i decrease the keyframes on the Y rotation
@justinnguyen2599 No, just move the second keyframe closer to the left
@@SmertimbaGraphics Thank you, It worked. also is there a way to make the sides of the logo a chome glossy color instead of just a solid
Sadly not with this method. That would be a little tricky doing without plugins, but if you have element 3d plugin available, then you can do it there
Thanks for this amazing video bro

How do I add motion blur to this effect?
Try adding an adjustment layer with cc force motion blur or pixel motion blur
thanks a lot !

is there a way to speed up the rotation?
Sure, just move the second keyframe closer to the first, that will speed up the animation or increase the value of the second keyframe by 2 or 3 times

Try moving the keyframes closer to each other, if it's an fps issue go into composition settings (CTRL+K) and increase fps to a higher value
