Video was a big help. I got a squeek coming off of my gearbox and this was the only video I could find on the subject. Also never would have found the tool without your video too. Thanks!

Hey Buck, a question, I'm doing the same thing on my C1.12 right now. That blue Pinion lockring tool has directions on it "loosen" and "tighten"... however I'm lost with the "reverse threadedness going against them?

Reverse threads mean turn clockwise to loosen. So visualize a clock ticking in your head and turn the lock ring tool that direction. If you get a lot of resistance try the other direction. Repeat those steps until you get movement.

Just got my pinion. After 100 miles, I notice a distinct clicking noise at the same crank location when pedaling. I’ve tightened, loosened the belt and it’s still there. Any idea?

I am not sure. I would recommend taking the assembly apart to see if something external of the gear box is causing the issue.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the Priority 600. I narrowed down my next bike purchase to a couple, and considering purchasing the 600 for the Pinion gearbox. I like the idea of the belt system and manual transmission. Curious though on Prioritys response to the problem. I see they loaned you the tool to use, but was that their only option given to complete the repair or was there an option of taking to an approved local bike shop?

They gave me the option to take it to a bike shop. I do my own work though so I did not take them up on that option.

I just bought this bike and curious what pedals are those in the video?

There is Shimano petals that are flat on one side and allow clipping on the other. For an SBD binding.

So the maintenance free Pinion... only change oil 1 time a year.... Bike .... now this has to be checked...

maintenance free is relative to use and how long you want parts to last. Run a wheel set of any caliber on bumpy dirt roads. Fly a bike with a commercial airline. You will do more need more maintenance on the wheels and drive train. Ride on the bike path once a month in the summer and store the bike in the garage when not in use. No maintenance.

I hope I'm not annoying, but it still seems like your belt tension isn't tight enough. I'm on the still frame at 1:22 of your video and there's a noticeable droop on the bottom of your belt. If you go through the Belt Tensioning process and move your rear wheel back a mm or 2, I'm guessing your belt skipping issues will disappear. Please watch the Priority Belt Tension adjustment video and see if that helps.

I used the app to verify that the belt tension was correct based on it sound when plucked.

Dabbler at work - beware! He took that crank arm off the bike for the first time in his life. There are better sources. Better have a look at the Pinion channel. 😎

Is there something specific I could have done better to improve this?

Buy a dam torque wrench. They are not that expensive.

That is a good idea. I bought one this weekend.
