I'm such an idiot, it never occurs to me that others are fighting hard to stay on an even keel as they fight through the storms in their lives. You seem so full of life on your videos, its easy to assume that's how your real life is. We have EMF Camp in the UK, every 2 yrs. Though it is not off grid at all. Three phase power, POTS and gigabit internet to your tent, if you want. No paperwork though. Just roll a cable out to the nearest distribution cab (modified loos) and when the techs are doing their rounds, they will plug it in for you.

Not pen-testing, but these techniques allowed me to be more efficient, getting into spaces I am required to view, but would prefer not to wait on a key for 20 minutes. Thank you for an awesome description! I just came back physically exhausted and mentally recharged from MCH2022, the Dutch camp with 3000 new and old friends. Your photos makes it look like it was a bunch of backyards but I am sure the surroundings are just different. Regarding covid, we had an awesome high commitment to face masks and daily testing. Quite a few positive tests and a dedicated quarantine zone but not a super spreader event at all. Hope to see you at our next Dutch camp in three years!
Tbh in the first seconds I thought you were at the Milliways village at MCH (village is what's equivalent to your theme/sub camp, I suppose). Funny to see your phone network too, the Dutch and German events have military field phones but mostly an incredible DECT network.
So how long till the first organising session for hackers 25?? I am so sorry I couldn't be with you but My housemate can't be vaccinated till Nasal becomes available, which meant I had to cancel my ticket months ago, but hopefully the money has been towards my ticket in 3 years. I was so looking forward to coming for build up & tear down (the best bits IMHO - its really annoying when all these people turn up and get in the way!!). Pleased you all had a good time.

Which usually is over one year after the last event BUT also three years before the next event... I know Team Content is assuming to start two years in advance 'or so'. If you're not on the organisation mailing list for the IFCAT foundation, your best bet would be keeping an eye on Twitter or your local hacker space. There really should be a better way but there isn't.

I tend to do stuff like logistics because I have a blue badge as I am disabled. I've also been involved with heraldry type things. I've just been too ill for the last few years to be actively involved, but I am hoping to be strong enough by next year to be working at Chaos. Where I expect initial planning & site location to be kicking off for 25. To be honest I am totally sick of living in the UK and if it wasn't because I being a girl & thus having to look after my parents, I would have moved to Nijmegen ages ago!!

Great that you feel better! I can totally relate to this and yes hacker camps are awesome (have been to CCC camp in 2015 and 2019). I hope there will be a CCC camp next year. But also other hobby's have sometimes these Sommer camp's, for example I juggle as a hobby and are currently on my way to the European juggling convention which is a 9 day festival with lots of training opportunities and lots of shows but the best thing is: with lots of friends I haven't seen in the past few years. And the few days on the road already helped immensely to boost my mood and forget about work related issues. (I really needed this vacation even if I haven't realized this before)

You could come to Chaos camp.next year, this years event got delayed from last year due to Covid. The Dutch & the Germans hold camps every 4 years whilst the British hold camps every 2 years in the gaps.
Looks like a fun party! I prefer my camping to be mostly electronics-free. But I don't get to attend talks, so I could see myself going to this as well! And I imagine it's not a far walk to see the stars and find some nature therapy! Seems great!

I recently read a novel called “After the Revolution” by Robert Evans, and it’s basically about a post-balkanization United States, and one of the factions is a community of posthuman former supersoldiers who kind of fucked off when the DoD fell apart and now live in this big city they built in the desert (roughly near Arizona) called Rolling Fuck. Rolling fuck is a city built on a Bagger mobile mining rig, so it’s like a massive city on wheels. It’s a very similar social space to these hacker camps. Like you said, everyone is queer and high and happy, but in Rolling Fuck they are also filled with enough military grade hardware to wipe an infantry platoon. Artistic absurdity.
