I used to live near an ambulance hub, (Depot?) every time I heard the sirens I said a prayer for them. Basically asking God to protect the workers, and to give them skill, and traveling mercies to arrive at the scene and hospital safely. And of course for the one/s who needed the urgent aid that they would be able to get the help and care that was needed. Now I live closer to the hospital because of my medical needs, but still hear them in the distance. Man, I really hate to see you suffer like that!(Just wanted to add some 'fun knee' at the tail end of your wonderful day! Just getting a free dessert at dinner alone deserves a bit of social humor. Good work news is like a bone with meat still left on it, too!)
Just ordered 2 tops, a stubby holder and a sticker; previously I didn’t buy as postage to Australia is insane. Steve, we are going to wear the merch every time we go camping. Will send you a pic!
I think Steve appeals to us, not just because hes a genuinely lovely guy, but the child in us looks at these places and just thinks "cubbyhole". Solidarity 😆
Steve, my heart is with you. Love is so powerful. And it does not have a switch that you can flip on and off. Hang in there . Always remember you have over a million subs that love the shit out of you and are in your corner. Thank you for allowing yourself to share your sad with us. It's a shot I love whenever I see 'driving/walking away' footage. 'Cause you know they have to run back for the camera immediately afterward. The joys of one-person filming!
You're right, weirder is always better 😅 Anyone who's lost someone to trauma, gets a kick in the gut at the sight and sound of an ambulance. I felt for you in that moment ❤️
40 years young this week, and I just bought myself a small 1 man tent, a pad and a bag and I'm going to get out and enjoy some wilderness after finding your channel a few weeks ago. Love your attitude to life, you're an inspiration.
I love how you enjoy camping in places that you shouldn't. I don't know that I'd enjoy sleeping so close to the road, but I'm glad to know I could! Glad to see you smiling again. I hope you are bringing all of your happy memories along with you.
Hey Steve! Thanks for the shout-out to first responders. I'm a 911 dispatcher and love to watch your videos during downtime on night shift. My whole job consists of listening to people in their worst moments (relatives dying, witnessing cardiac arrests and giving them cpr instructions, drug overdoses, car accidents, domestic violence, shootings, etc.). But we also take a lot of abuse. When someone doesn't do their job correctly, we get cussed out and abused. We get tons of prank calls. We get treated like scum by police officers, EMS, and fire fighters. I've been doing this for 7 years and the world is getting worse and worse every day. I've been depressed lately, but videos like yours make my day just a little bit better. I hope you're doing better today!
It takes fortitude and determination to do the best for people that you can. I am concerned that ones who should be your supporters, aren't. You are serving persons who are having the worst day of their lives. Full of panic and desperation.
Steve cooking enough food for 5 people is probably one of my favourite things about his videos. Never fails to make me grin (plus how does he always make it look so good??)
Although it is funny is some way, on the other hand you may ask why he would be spilling so much factory produced food? Don’t get me wrong I am a big fan.
One time he made too much rice, beans, and cheese and then proceeded to make burritos until the sun went down (or that's how it appeared because he was eating them and then the next thing we saw was him walking back to his camp in the dark) and I couldn't stop laughing at the thought of him accidentally making enough small burritos to feed a family of 5 lol. They looked so delicious!!!
Steve just feels like that good buddy that’s always there. Follow other channels and like many other creators, but few would I want to crack open a step 2 with, cheers to ya Steve!
I have only stumbled across your channel very recently, but after watching a few videos I am super happy to notice how respectful and kind you are. Always picking up litter and wishing people the best. Super humble guy. Thank you for being so awesome!
Welcome to the channel. It's always important to leave no trace when camping but if you can make it look even better than how you found it, all the better!
@Steve Wallis Hey Steve, just a question, do you live on the island? I love watching the videos and after seeing this sign everyday it was a surprise to see it in a video!
Thanks, Steve! I used to be a professional first responder when I was younger for both an ambulance company and for the fire department and I appreciate your thoughts for the situation at the other end of those calls. Now, I always keep a hefty first aid kit and help anyone I stumble upon who needs it since I'm medically-trained because I've been on the other side of those calls and, as fast as we can get there to help, help never feels like it comes quickly enough when you really need it and I can remember how good those sirens sound when you know they're coming to help you.

My life is now a permanent stealth camp. But u guided me to have the courage over 3 years. Thankful for this channel. Btw my family always says we find random change from our relatives in heaven. My mother gives me coins all the time from beyond. Its so weird
Right? Instant escape, and just a nice reminder of the simple things. I started watching him at about 16 (19 now) and have been stealth camping countless times because of him, it was something me and friends always joked about when we were little, but now I’m doing it thanks to steve:).
Your explanation of the learning curve is spot on! Every new camper or even army recruit packs so much stuff, that they end up not really enjoying a lot of it, because they end up exhausted and having to search that seemingly bottomless backpack. Over time you learn to pack a bare minimum, which will you through 99% of situations. My list for roughly a week: - Sleeping bag (non-compressed because it's connected to a bivi) - Sleeping mat (Very light, just meant as a water barrier) - Underwear - Socks (extras) - Tarp - 15m paracord This is it really... I've slept like a baby through hurricane weather with that kit. I live in a temperate climate, it's wet constantly... But the bivi is optional, it's just an easy solution to the water problem - saves me time and allows me to stay dry on lower ground. But to each their own, some pack like mules - which is fine, we all enjoy different things.
@@lindakleckner215 Ahh yea, I didn't cover consumables ^^ You'd of course need to pack food, or kit to catch it. I also carry a knife and small fold-able shovel, but only the knife is really a "must".
@@PaulMcClennon282 Hehe... Wool is your friend, and don't overdo the deodorant. A thin inner t-shirt of merino wool and a slightly thicker long sleeve regular wool shirt is great for outdoors. Odor isn't really a problem, you only really notice it during bedtime, but it's not that bad. And as for pants... I can wear the same pants unwashed for weeks, as long as they don't get dirty or sweaty. (I recommend cargo pants for outdoor usage, "Fjällräven" is my personal favorite brand)
Me and my wife did this behind the Kelowna BC sign when we first meet and we’re homeless. Before our 4 kids and now owning a house! 😅 good times 🇨🇦 oh and thanks for all you do Steve!
Yes steve great to see you back at it again. You've inspired so many people around the world and created an entirely different niche version of camping. Love it mate it's something that i look forward to every week. You're inspiring many including myself. Can't wait to get started ✌

This is awesome. I cannot tell you all the crazy assed places I’ve crashed thru decades of hitching. Church vans ( never locked) bridges, tops of buildings, inside various structures, caves, culverts, washes, a freight train caboose, a lobster boat ( the owner after a breief moment of anger took us out crabbing) on n on. Indeed brings back memories. I never actually slept behind a sign, but plotted climbing a billboard and hanging my hammock just above the hang platform…GIMMIE time. Thanks y’all!

@@IDontGiveAFlyingFig that’s awesome. I think it helps with the grieving process that loved ones have to go through. Thanks to you Steve! When I was a kid I imagined sleeping behind bushes or in the middle of roundabouts who has so many trees or nice bushes. Finding you doing this REAL stealth camping is amazing. Hope your soul is getting stronger every week. Thanks for this unique way to do stealth camping! Cheers from Argentina 🇦🇷
I hope you’re feeling much better, Steve. I really appreciate you still getting out there and working hard even though you’re going through a tough time. You’ve got this!
Steve! You're spot on about gear. As a music producer, over 16 years, I went from absolutely bare bones essentials all the way to my own studio room with acoustic paneling, custom desk, speaker setup, etc... Now? I'm back to the bare bones. I didn't need all that extra stuff. It's almost like you get it to be taken seriously -- to show you belong. Then, you realize it is just getting in the way! Loving the videos. You're always such a fun watch. Best of luck!
Steve, I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that there is something so wonderful about some of these stealth camping episodes, like the sign ones or the roundabout ones. I guess it just brings out our inner child-what child never imagined hiding out in one of these places and having some adventures? Thanks so much for bringing these good feelings to so many people.
Actually can't get over how much joy these videos bring to my day. As somebody who has a weird quirk for these little spots of seclusion you find in the vast miles of trees, and forestry, it almost takes me back to a child like state of comfort,, knowing nothing else matters outside of the spot your camping in and the nature that envelops you. Again thank you Steve, you bring so much peace and calm that this world needs more of so badly, I know your wife is beyond proud of your right now!
You’re such a good person Steve!! You’re literally picking up everyone else’s trash that you stumble upon you really care about nature. I commend you Fine Sir
Steve, I rarely ever leave youtube comments but that dialog you provided on the "Arc" of gear (Starting small, buying big, then consolidating to exactly what you need). Is so accurate! Never heard it summarized so well but this happens for so many things, it's really a sign of mastery when you get to the point where you realize you don't need every tool and it's more about your own skillset and utilizing what you need the most. Well said, thanks for your great videos!
I'm sure it's been said before, but it's beyond doubt that these videos have saved lives. Some people stealth camp for fun, but as our society slowly crumbles around us, more and more people are stuck doing it because they unfortunately have no choice. This channel is a treasure trove of advice and positivity for anyone who has to sleep rough.

Steve just know we watch these videos for you, not just for the 'crazy' and 'risky' content. You have such a positive perspective, and you are clearly so very empathic, to the point where you refuse to push your merch like 99% of youtubers because you don't want to pressure anyone. That's why I think "Camping with Steve" is such a fitting title for this series, because it's almost just like hanging out with a good friend that you know you would never steer you wrong. Wishing you all the best man!
Camping With Steve is always the coziest! Even the loud cars were a confort during my shower. It makes me think of all the good spots in the town I grew up in, and the town i live in now! I don't think I'd find it as comforting, but it's a comfort being here on your journeys with you! 🥰

You know what this remind me of? When I was like 5-7 years old, just going into the bushes or wood playing around building "camps" and just enjoying simple good fun. Man, I really hate to see you suffer like that!(Just wanted to add some 'fun knee' at the tail end of your wonderful day! Just getting a free dessert at dinner alone deserves a bit of social humor. Good work news is like a bone with meat still left on it, too!)
You should have bought a lottery ticket today

Steve, you've earned the right to promote your awesome merch. You are a great dude and we love your videos!

For me its bc im still a kid (17) and would love to do stuff like this! Just.... not in a hammock ive fallen out of those

Steve, my heart is with you. Love is so powerful. And it does not have a switch that you can flip on and off. Hang in there . Always remember you have over a million subs that love the shit out of you and are in your corner. Thank you for allowing yourself to share your sad with us. Well said!
The ending was hilarious. In this world today, it is so beautiful to see someone with such a pure soul like Steve.

It's a shot I love whenever I see 'driving/walking away' footage. 'Cause you know they have to run back for the camera immediately afterward. The joys of one-person filming!
Yes. He does have a pure soul.
You're right, weirder is always better 😅
Anyone who's lost someone to trauma, gets a kick in the gut at the sight and sound of an ambulance. I felt for you in that moment ❤️
I am 70 years old, and I never ever thought that someone would be camping behind a road sign. Looked like a nice little adventure.☺.
Too noisy!
that’s steve for ya !
Reward yourself with self praise and little treats or being out in nature for getting through your bad days, also.
Why are first responders treating you like scum? I’ve never heard this before, it’s a team effort, wth? I appreciate you guys! 🫵👍
👍🙏🙏🙏🙏👍 🇺🇦😇
I would seriously consider taking a break from it if depression is creeping in. Thank you for what you have already done.
I love how you leave a campsite better than you found it. More people need to take up the hobby and help clean up our landscape! Cheers Steve!
Right
One time he made too much rice, beans, and cheese and then proceeded to make burritos until the sun went down (or that's how it appeared because he was eating them and then the next thing we saw was him walking back to his camp in the dark) and I couldn't stop laughing at the thought of him accidentally making enough small burritos to feed a family of 5 lol. They looked so delicious!!!
I think sometimes there is more people with him. Camera crew etc.
@@Eratas1 lol, really ?

Never feel awkward when promoting yourself especially on merchandise. We love you and want to spread the hunker down magic to the world.
Super this - super that! Arghhhh!
Was just typing something similar. Thank you for your service to the community my friend. Same here, paramedic and lots of critical care on a paediatric advanced life support ambulance. Never fails though that someone will crash or fall out in front of me though 😂. It’s like I’ve never left sometimes.

The chances of Steve stealth camping in your area are low but never 0
My life is now a permanent stealth camp. But u guided me to have the courage over 3 years. Thankful for this channel. Btw my family always says we find random change from our relatives in heaven. My mother gives me coins all the time from beyond. Its so weird

A bad day always turns into a good one when Steve uploads
Right? Instant escape, and just a nice reminder of the simple things. I started watching him at about 16 (19 now) and have been stealth camping countless times because of him, it was something me and friends always joked about when we were little, but now I’m doing it thanks to steve:).
@@Wes0602 nice 😏
Facts. I could be having the worst day ever, by the end of a Steve video I'm smiling and happy.
Love how thoughtful you were for the medics in the ambulance and whoever was in the back of the ambulance.
It could be the shittiest day ever, it all goes away for the 20+ minutes I’m watching this channel. Your positivity really is inspiring.
The world is crazy right now…so being able to spend an evening with Steve really takes the edge off. Great to see him back out there.
❤
Your explanation of the learning curve is spot on!
Every new camper or even army recruit packs so much stuff, that they end up not really enjoying a lot of it, because they end up exhausted and having to search that seemingly bottomless backpack.
Over time you learn to pack a bare minimum, which will you through 99% of situations.
My list for roughly a week:
- Sleeping bag (non-compressed because it's connected to a bivi)
- Sleeping mat (Very light, just meant as a water barrier)
- Underwear
- Socks (extras)
- Tarp
- 15m paracord
This is it really...
Just reading here....that's a good list!🙂 Food, a knife or spoon, water, and carry toilet and your all set😄👍.
You are a tough individual! I don’t know if I could do the a week in the same shirt and pants
@@lindakleckner215 Ahh yea, I didn't cover consumables ^^
You'd of course need to pack food, or kit to catch it.
The noise of traffic and frogs croaking throughout the night sounds so incredibly peaceful
It is my favorite sound!

I like how Steve always cleans up other peoples' rubbish so as to leave the site better than he found it.
Completely agree. Glad someone else feels like that too.
Exactly! I know all the spots I would stealth camp today if I had the courage and equipment
When Steve drops a new video, it turns a bad day completely around. Thank you sir and I wish you the best.
Good to have you back Steve! We're a patient crowd so we're good with whatever works for you.
