Dennis Michael Locorriere (born June 13, 1949; Union City, New Jersey, United States) is the American lead vocalist and guitarist of the soft rock group Dr. Hook (formerly Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show). Locorriere, as a founding member of Dr. Hook, was the recipient of more than 60 gold and platinum singles, gaining No. 1 chart status in more than 42 countries.[citation needed] He is also a songwriter, whose songs have been recorded by Bob Dylan, Crystal Gayle, BJ Thomas, Helen Reddy, Willie Nelson, Southside Johnny, Olivia Newton-John, and by Jerry Lee Lewis, on his 2006 release, Last Man Standing
Dr. Hook (shortened from Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show in 1975) was an American rock band, formed in Union City, New Jersey. They enjoyed considerable commercial success in the 1970s with hit singles including "Sylvia's Mother", "The Cover of 'Rolling Stone'" (both 1972), "Only Sixteen" (1975), "A Little Bit More" (1976), "Sharing the Night Together" (1978), "When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman" (1979), "Better Love Next Time" (1979), and "Sexy Eyes" (1980). In addition to their own material, Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show performed songs written by the poet Shel Silverstein.
The band had eight years of regular chart hits, in the United States, where their music was played on top-40, easy listening, and country music outlets, and throughout the English-speaking world including the UK, Canada and South Africa. Their music spanned several genres, mostly novelty songs and acoustic ballads in their early years; their greatest success came with their later material, mostly consisting of disco-influenced soft rock, which the band recorded under the shortened name Dr. Hook.

This is either not Dennis or it wasn't from 1979. To begin with, Sexy Eyes was released in 1980. But Ray is not in this video.

It is possible to be from ‘79. Since it was recorded in early ‘79 and released in October of that same year… they could have been debuting the song in shows like this to promote songs from their new album (at the time), “Sometimes You Win”
Also, both “Sexy Eyes” and “Better Love Next Time” were off that album and they did a medley of them both here. So, even more it could have been promoting the song at this show.
@@tarstarkusz I agree this is a much older Dennis so definitely not a 1979 performance. There are other videos from the late 70s and he is much younger in those.

The music still sounds fantastic, but there's something really sad to me about this video and this period in the band's history. Ray had already left... Dennis's beard left, too (in a romantic elopement with Ray's sideburns?). About half of the people on stage in this video I don't recognize at all... new band members, or old ones with unrecognizable haircuts? I do see Billy Francis rocking out on that goofy red keyboard, though, haha! You can't disguise that grin! John Wolters is there, too...
baronhausenpheffer everyone in the band is the same. Only one I didn't know was the keyboard. They completely changed with the times. Dennis had the feathered hair in the 70s and this video is quintessential 80s
That drummer is not John Wolters; his name is Walter somebody --he was a fill in on one of their Australian trips but it is not the original John Wolters-- by then John had left due to ill-health. A lot of them do have unrecognizable haircuts -- Jance Garfat with short hair? How freaking bizarre!! And Dennis's beard needed to come back quickly --he looks much much much better with a beard!! I don't know who the keyboard player is but he looks like he just got out of jail and his PO is looking for him! This was for the end-- sad indeed!!

Ray Sawyer left Dr.Hook in 1981. He didn' t like the way the music was going. But it was a case of the guys having to earn money as they had kids to keep etc . It was decided that Dr.Hook would carry on until the mid 80s when Dennis at the age of 35 disbanded the group . Dennis went on to do session work in the U.S. for a variety of country artists including Randy Travis . He moved to the U.K. some years later and went out as a solo performer. He did not disappoint as he is magnificent an incredible solo performer. He did that for several years but nowadays he performs worldwide with a backing group

Linda Vidal according to Rik, the band management took much of the money, and yet the band still owed them money. The band had to keep performing so they can amass the money owed to management!
Unfortunately this moves into "Sexy Eyes" about half way thru "Better Love Next Time".
