  • The Don Lane show from Australia
Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show (shortened to Dr. Hook in 1975) was an American rock band, formed in Union City, New Jersey. They enjoyed considerable commercial success in the 1970s with hit singles including "Sylvia's Mother", "The Cover of 'Rolling Stone'" (both 1972), "Only Sixteen" (1975), "A Little Bit More" (1976), "Sharing the Night Together" (1978), "When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman" (1979), "Better Love Next Time" (1979), and "Sexy Eyes" (1980). In addition to their own material, Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show performed songs written by the poet Shel Silverstein.
The band had eight years of regular chart hits in the United States, where their music was played on top-40, easy listening, and country music outlets, and throughout the English-speaking world including the UK, Canada and South Africa. Their music spanned several genres, mostly novelty songs and acoustic ballads in their early years, though their greatest success came with their later material, mostly consisting of disco-influenced soft rock, which the band recorded under the shortened name Dr. Hook.

Dr Hook and the Medicine Show truly were a group of guys who had fun on the stage, did great performances, and loved people. Look at the humanity of Ray and Dennis as they go into the audience to meet that person.

I can remember as a child begging my mother to stay up late every time Dr Hook was on the Don Lane show (which was a lot) they were always so entertaining and clearly had a passion for life and what they did, even today I have their greatest hits loaded up in my car stereo and it always takes me back, THANK YOU for posting this great memory xoxoxo

It comes out in so many of their videos how Ray was such a great encourager and truly loved people. The way he hugged the people in the audience was so touching. RIP Ray It's sad that most of them are gone now. 😥

The most down to earth bunch of guys you’ll ever see as the superstars they are. So great to see these archives as they were. As I wasn’t around to see them its so refreshing to see how these guys act on a sofa just like they do on a stage. You can never excel greatness to its optimal position. ❤️🥰

Jack Donahue (1804 - 1830) was a bushranger in Australia between 1825 and 1830. Known as "Bold Jack Donahue" he became part of the notorious "Wild Colonial Boys."
Jack Donahue, also known as John Donohoe, was born in Dublin, IRELAND. After being convicted of intent to commit a felony in 1823. he was transported to Australia in 1825.

      From the Old Sod!
We fought the BASTARDS for 800 years and we continued the fight in Aussie land, where they sent us for stealing a sheep!
Never forget, the DNA/BLOOD that flowed through the veins of John Donohoe - it was ROYAL BLOOD, compared to the CRAP that flowed through English veins!

Watch the BBC interview video where Dennis Locorriere states there is never going to be a reunion because it had to be a seance, for some important members have passed away... The great bands are gone.....bugger!
Their version of Wild Colonial Boy is the best ever recorded (and by a considerable margin) - an overseas band that actually "got" this countries history.
Shoulda cloned em why we had the chance.
