- Hey guys so this week I had the opportunity to detail this beautiful Golf GTI 40 years and decided on such a nice car I'd like to do my best and make a great video for you all of the process.
no talking in this one but music and the sounds of detailing

Hey guys I hope you enjoy this one as it was a lot of work but something I'm proud of as while editing this I felt it was going to be my best video

Yeah it came up pretty nice, owner just wanted wash and wax originally but I added a few extra things for him

Loving the content. I didn't know you can polish the piano black door trim like that. I'll give it a go on my RS3 because it's starting to look pretty shabby
Thanks Tom, yeah they swirl so easily those piano black trims since they're so soft so a very gentle polish can make a huge difference
great video, you should be proud of this one. One thing i will get you on. Polish, re wash and then flash prep just before wax and/or sealant
Thanks mate, I don't personally like that method as it's just too risky that after doing a paint correction and then doing a wash and dry it ends up with more swirls again
Also if using a ceramic coating you don't want water dripping so best to polish then IPA wipe then coat imo
@@EvolvedDetails going to put bead machine on and after it cures use beaut beads. I think Bowdens video i saw did it that way around, or would you suggest the other way.
I'd definitely go with what they suggest, I actually haven't layered them yet but considered doing on the Golf if I had which unfortunately I didn't so I'll try it another time.

@@EvolvedDetails Going to try to do the MG today, if i get it done will post some pics, my initial comment was wrong, it is suggested beaut beads first, 4 to 5 hours curing and then bead machine

lovely bit of marring on the gloss black pillars, did you not use a light polish to refine them and remove the haziness, or was that not shown in the video? also id reccommend using a smaller machine for intricate areas like that and a few other parts around the car. nice car though
Yeah I went over it with a finer poilsh after but couldn't find the footage as there was a lot to go through. Have since bought a mini cordless polisher but also the customer didn't ask for the pillars to be polished I just did that as the were heavily swirled so I quickly went over them to improve

I love detailing my golf , but I think it’s important to remember….it would be just as clean using washing up liquid and water 💦!
It will clean it but isn't reccomended over time as there's salt in washing up liquid. But that's not going to remove swirls and haze like the machine polisher or add a layer of hydrophobic protection like the wax used in the video.
This was a detail done on this golf so went past the just wash and dry that you're describing

Yeah something weird happened yesterday as I got a few comments that I saw while I was at work and was going to reply when on my break but once I checked again they were gone.

@@EvolvedDetails yeah im a previous gti owner and now a golf r owner. The 40years is a true gem of a car and the mk7 really caused a ruckus in the hot hatch game back in 2014/15. For me its the build quality and overall confidence it gives you aswel as being a comfortable and refined daily hatch
Yeah I couldn't believe how nice the 40 years interior was, definitely a bit step up from the mk 6 golf r I drive, as for the metal gti plates I used mothers metal polish on them

It is really good stuff, third time I've used it and still can't get over how nice it is to apply
