Great video Makai, You are very knowledgeable. I'm picking up my Raider GE68HX 16" Monday, going to use it for Microsoft Flight Simulator, either 2020 or 2024 flight SIM. Thank you for that video Oh! Wife freaked out when she saw the price from BB! Going to add the M.2 the 990 pro 4TB ssd. I'm I foolish doing that, my friend thinks so, being it came with 2TB, I don't like putting my games in the main drive?
In summary, the differences between the Titan ( th-cam.com/video/77qHW85cOus/w-d-xo.html ) and the Raider appear to be: 1. The Titan has blue accents and this has red. 2. The Titan has a seamless glass touchpad and wrist rest while this has a traditional click pad. Plus this has a fingerprint reader. 3. The Titan has one more M.2 slot. 4. The Titan has a vapor chamber, this has at least 6 heat pipes.
Actually it looks like that the Titan also has the plug for the Fingerprint: Titan slot: th-cam.com/video/77qHW85cOus/w-d-xo.htmlsi=mcARdojqBqDFDCsr&t=1220 Raider slot: th-cam.com/video/VunfV4NI0BM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=4jTGdWch2aZ4KCIa&t=736 The very left of the motherboard, next to the speaker.

I saw somewhere that this is the left one (looking at the open laptop, laying up and down as this video shows). Bot I will confirm this soon - have a plan to add second M.2 so we will see which port is currently occupied.
@@LowSkillGamerYT Hi it barely fits. You can close the lid but I am not entirely sure if it's hitting the top of the heatsink or not. I just decided to return it and get the one without the heatsink. I also bought separate thin heatsink from Amazon.
I may have commented on your Titan 18 HX disassemble, and same applies here. I am worried about space to put 3rd party heatsinks on SSD. Gen 4 SSDs can run hot, but Gen 5 SSD run so hot I'm super skeptical about putting Gen 5 in a Titan or Raider 18 HX without having to cut case bottom to put full sized heat sink, and then have laptop sit angled on top of laptop cooler like Llano cooler. Is there even space for a Gen4 SSD that comes with heatsink installed like Seagate Firecuda 530? Thank you if you can answer these questions. If not, I'm sure someone will eventually have answer before I decide which one I want and start cutting holes in bottom to allow big heatsinks on SSDs. :)
@@zechssiguro7476 - that would be wonderful, and even more especially for SSDs that are 4GB because I think the bigger SSDs run a little bit hotter, and what even is the point of buying system that's suppose to be biggest and fastest laptop like this or Titan unless biggest and fastest 4GB SSDs (or bigger if they ever happen) are used?
Does the third M.2 port miss a connector only or some more components? Looks like all stuff around are in place except M.2 connector, but I might be wrong.

Yo Makaitech! Good Evening to you it is evening in my place as of this time of writing! I noticed that the inside of this laptop is spacious. Will this fit an 8 to 12mm M.2 Heatsink? I plan to buy this thick heatsink tomorrow. I have the laptop now!
Hello, I'm also curious whether an SSD with a heatsink will fit. Could you tell me if you managed to do it and which SSD you bought? I also want to install an SSD with a heatsink, since there's no proper cooling here at all.
@@LowSkillGamerYT For thin laptop just buy a 0.5 up to 1mm heatsink. Remember to buy several 0.5 and 1mm thermal pads. For thicker laptops you can fit 8mm up to 10mm heatsinks! If the bottom of the laptop is not completely flat like there is a part that will have a bulge than it means that you can install a thicker heatsink! I have 2 4TBs Lexar NM790 Single Sided M.2. I bought several 0.5 and 1mm thermal pads but I did not install an 8mm Pure Copper Graphene Heatsink! I installed 6mm! Under the M.2 the side with no chips, I installed a 1mm Graphene Heatsink sticking it with 0.5 thermal pads to avoid making it thicker. I cut the thermal pads into small pieces so three pieces above and 3 pieces under. Separating the pads is better for heat absorbtion rather than putting 1 whole thermal pad that people normally do. First, you measure the size of the chips then you cut the pads according to the size of the microchips and the number of chips. In my case 3 chips above sticking the 6mm Pure Copper Graphene Heatsink and also under 3 0.5mm thermal pads cut into three pieces same size as the chips above and sticking a 1mm graphene heatsink! 1 more tip! Get a rule 6 or 12". Put it at level above the M.2 the part with chips. You will notice that the thickness or height of the chips are not all the same. 1 will only be 0.5mm and the others are 1mm. This is the reason why you should not stick 1 whole thermal pad. You must cut the pads into pieces so count the number of chips. Get a ruler and stick it on your M.2 to see which chip is thicker or thinner! The main reason to this is a part of the pad will not stick the the chip so what does it mean? NO HEAT ABSORBTION WILL HAPPEN so the heat of that chip that did not stick with the pad is gonna heat throttle the temperature! Your Heatsink and thermal pad is like useless! For the taller chips just stick 0.5mm pads and for the shorter chip stick a 1mm pad so when you stick the heatsink everything will stick evenly no small gaps! As for the underside just get a 0.5mm pads cut it into the same number of pieces like what you did above then stick your 1mm heatsink. Be aware of the position of the chips above because you will stick the 0.5mm pads below same position as the chips above so always measure! QUESTION BUB, ARE YOU BUYING THE SAME BRAND AND MODEL OF 18" GAMING LAPTOP? THE COOLING DOES NOT END HERE! After sticking the Heatsink above and below, on top of the heatsinks I sticked a Dual-Layer Graphene & Copper-Foil Design cooler on both heatsinks. I have a Kingston Fury Impact DDR5-5600 4 pieces 192GB Kit installed. I put a Graphene Copper Foil on all of my 4 Memories! It does not stop here! I bought a Graphene Heat Dissipation Film and put sticked it to some parts of the heatsink of the GPU and CPU! I cut it into thinner shape because the heatsink is narrower than the M.2.
Hey Makaitech! I am going to buy this 18.4" gaming laptop THIS WEEK! I want to know because MSI did not put this important information in their web when you look at the specifications of this gaming laptop. Will this accept a SODIMM DDR5 5600 MHz memory? Hi there. Long story short, YES it can handle 5600 MT/s (2x2800 Mhz) SODIMMs. As of the Wifi, it has a Wifi 7 module in it. Currently even very few routers support this standard, as this module is pretty new this is why no other alternatives I could list out in the video.
