  • If your child has conductive hearing loss due to Microtia and/or Atresia go to bit.ly/2TTlGyk to learn more about how hearing through bone conduction can help.
Manny was born with bilateral Microtia and Atresia; both ears were malformed and he has closed off ear canals, which left him with a conductive hearing loss in both ears. As worried new parents, Manny’s mom and dad wanted the best life possible for their son, so they began to research hearing solutions for conductive hearing loss. One solution for conductive hearing loss is hearing through bone conduction, also known as a BAHA. By the age of one year old, Manny’s hearing had improved significantly with the Cochlear™ Baha® Softband and two Cochlear™ Baha® Sound Processors. By the age of five* Manny had transitioned to a more permeant hearing solution, the Baha® Connect Implant System. The procedure was simple and easy, and Manny was back to his normal activities within a few days. Once Manny had his permeant hearing solution and two Cochlear Baha Sound Processors, Manny’s speech skyrocketed, and there was no turning back.
Today, Manny is a successful student, competitive dancer, baseball player and couldn’t imagine his life without his bilateral Baha’s. Manny’s mom credits his success as a dancer because the “rhythm beats off of Manny’s bones, because he hears it differently.” Each year Manny’s hearing gets better and better. Thanks to the Baha Implant system and his Cochlear Baha Bilateral Sound Processors, Manny has access to 360 degrees of sound and lives the life he loves.
