I have got to tell you my wife had a learning disorder all her school life. She just told me that if she had a teacher like you who made it interesting and fun as you do she would have never had the learning problem she had. Thank You Mr Hurd we just love you!
Dan, I love to watch you !! I'm 74 years old now, and disabled, but when I watch you, I'm right there with you. And its such fun. I've learned so much, thank you for the escape,I wish I was young again so I could go searching around Seattle where I live, so I'm watching from Seattle what kind of minerals are around here ???! God Bless you and thanks again !!!!
My mother is going to be 76 this year and now lives in Oklahoma she once live in WASHINGTON st. near Seattle . Wish I was there exploring as she had such wonderful stories of the area. I am a rock hound.
LOL nice claim Dan,i just watched this with an old friend he is a retired geologist it was so funny watching him squirm as you pounded into the ground with the kangol, made my day so it did ;)
Dan, watching this and I am so incredibly jealous of what you get to do. I don't even know how you get or find all these claims but everytime I get a new video from you it's either gold or a really cool gemstone. So encourage by what you do. Thanks
Dan, a few years ago I stumbled across a video of a weird guy digging for gemstones on the side of the road with his boys. It was a beautiful example of family time well spent. I subscribed to your channel right then and I have never been disappointed. I think you are a wonderful person and the people you share you time with are lucky to have you.
This is for you,♥️ and well deserved matter of fact. I think sometimes TH-cam creators become immersed in their ongoing and without a cyber team it becomes hard to respond and recognize all commenters but I think your comment is very heartfelt heart warming and it's cool to hear how someone from TH-cam could impact someone else's life in a positive way we need more of that in the world. I can only dream to have the amount of followers as him but I don't put as much time and effort because of my ongoing is in life. but will be trying to make a point to reach out to people like yourself it's a beautiful thing go team Good💪🏼♥️🤳🏻
Not entirely sure how this channel showed up in my recommended a few weeks back but I have been binge-watching the heck out of your videos lately, I gotta say Dan, your excitement, general love of what you do and your wonderful personality on camera bring me a lot of joy, definitely earned my subscription and I look forward to new videos every week!
Love your enthusiasm the joy you have in your elements makes me jealous not to be in your circle of friends & living in such beautiful country. If a person is feeling down....going thru hardships....they just need to watch Dan Hurd among mother natures enjoying her many gifts...! How can anyone feel down when around Dan Hurd...!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank You for Sharing, Dan.....glad your heart surgery went well you are still here & doing what you love. My area of expertise was in medicine & I want you to know this & you tell this to your loved ones for so often heart patients are not told about this. If you ever start having heartburn that persist 3 days or more....nothing is easing it....TO THE ER RIGHT THEN NO WAITING....WHILE BEING DRIVEN THERE A LOVED ONE ON THE PHONE W/YOUR CARDIAC DR/SURGEON YOU DO NOT PUT THIS OFF, DAN....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I saved my brother in law when he had cardiac issues My Sister called told Me his symptoms I got him in w/the best Vascular Surgeon & the right tests done.....for as we know there are those who will do unnecessary tests etc just to drain insurance & our bank accounts. He had several more years but did pass away. At the time our life paths separated us....when he died & I learned about what happened before he died.....so unnecessary. For over a week he complained about heartburn that just would not go away & not anyone knew what this was alerting to. Very sad that something like this happens. so Dan.....plz leave me a response that you read this your family knows.....share this info w/others because so often too many don't know what this dangerous symptom is announcing. Take Care Dan & Fam'
I really enjoy it when you turn your skills to the other shiny rocks (not gold) =) The gold spots here in Australia are hit pretty hard by detectorist but the gem spots you have a fairer chance of a nice find. Big thanks for all the wonderful knowledge you share
Whilst digging, keep your left hand grip on the shovel with pinky closest to the spade (not changing grip to weaker hold to throw the material) . Your left wrist will thank you!!
Thanks for bringing us along, guys and gal! Nice haul, Dan! There are gonna be some beautiful pieces made out of that agate. I'm gonna have to learn about where and how to look for geodes and agate...✌️❤️🙂🇨🇦
Just subscribed, this content is great to inspire my niece. I gift her my broken jewelry from buying/selling jewelry trade, she loves gemstones and getting dirty. Update: You’ve inspired my sisters to consider mineral hunting 👍.
In a world gone mad, it's just relaxing to watch you uncover these gems and see the finished cuts of them......such beautiful stuff....right from my chair and screen in SoCal ......
Hi Dan. Love your vids. I learn so much. Saw your vid about commenters. Please ignore them. They don't have the knowledge experience or personality that you do. You are a star. You inspire me as an amateur rock hound.
You did it Again! And see, Bryson has the gumption to dig out places for you and setup your next move for good finds. He’s a motivated prospector. Just a fabulous dig with your friends Sarah and Bryson! Yehaw, BC Miners!
I'm sure Dan knows the difference between Makita and Milwaukee but it's still fun to be couch gremlin and correct him anyway. That drill's a Makita Dan! Very satisfying.
Well after watching a few of your videos the last few weeks Mr. Dan you have earned my subscription. You've also peaked an interest for me. I spend a lot of time outdoors but never doing what you do. I've always been somewhat interested but it's a lot more informative to see how it's done to get an idea of what's in store.
Glad you are recovering!! I messed up my foot over 2-4 years ago and I’ve been in pain and last year they found out my foot was fractured and my Achilles was messed up. So I was in a cast for 6 weeks and a boot for another 6 weeks. My Achilles healed but my Fracture didn’t. So I have to wear my boot for 3 weeks from the 6 weeks I said.
Dan, that Agate would make an absolutely fantastic set of wedding dishes you know like Fine China except for made out of agate! Especially if the couple in question, or Rock hounders! Think about it! Maybe little dishes for salads or a moose Bouche or something to do with a dinnerware set one so Elite and special as to be virtually unfindable! Do it do it do it! All my love to you and your family, blessings and peace, Sachi
That looks like a Makita 4011 hammer drill. They are the cats uh, meow . yeah lol. Always stolked to see a notification that you have a new video posted. keep up the great work Dan!!
It's actually hardened mud and the agates your picking out were once mussels and clams and other once living things. Permineralization is the term. Great finds btw
Hi Dan, all of those agates are nice, those bigger ones however are just awesome. Glad you took the time to show us the cut pieces, it gives us a better appreciation of the pieces that you took out. An older specimen miner I spoke with some time back told me once you find a good piece “dig away” from the specimen, his suggested that however big (diameter) of the rock or specimen is then that is the distance you start away from it, then work your way back towards it, he said it minimises stress fractures in good pieces even though it takes a bit longer. I have not done any of this kind of digging so I don’t know if this is correct. I would be interested to know if you think this would apply to those big clunkers, or if this would be more suitable to more fragile specimens. Great video though, kept me enthralled till the end. I found myself considering the old miners words while watching you dig out those bigger pieces and wondered if he was giving me good info or just his personal digging method. Keep Safe & Keep Rockin & you keep looking after yourself.
Fantastic find Dan!! I wish I was part of a club that had awesome claims like this, I would love to make some jewelry from the finds you come up with! I'd love make a big old man's ring with a massive agate faceted and centered in it, a ring that everyone goes "WOOOOW!" when they see the stone! You know the exact kind of ring I'm talking about a ring so big that only a man with huge hands can get away with wearing it!
Beautiful agates! You never know what they look like inside until you cut them open. Awesome finds and cool cut slabs! Nice to see everyone enjoying the hunt! 😁👍👌🤓
i use to fossick for agates like that near me but ours are blue. anyway the host rock they are found in here is hardened volcanic ash and i was told the tear drap shape has to do with the way molten material was flung through the air and then landing in the ash creating the pockets. im kind of curious if your bed rock is actually an ash layer over ancient soils.... dont get me wrong ive seen petrified ash falls over 40m thick. PS they look like ancient hand axes

Dan may fiance and I have been watching your videos for over a year now. We want you to know that you are truly inspiring. We would love to go out and find some gems but the closest thing we can find is gems at our county fairs. We do have a nice little collection but only the gems we have paid for at the fair. if there was one person i could ever meet from youtube it would have to be dan. He is so knowledgeable about all these minerals and such i could learn a ton
Thank you Bob and daughter for the video and the chance to experience what it is like finding those Glorious agates. Odd question who makes the rock saw you utilized to slice the large agate slabs at the closing of the video? Long time fan from Washington State.
Dan .I was wondering..how long after your surgery..could you return to a shovel...i am just healing from a qaudruple bypass ..and am your age..i watch all your video productions..thank you..it seems we like the same things..God Bless

Dan, I’m pretty sure you are the Bob Ross of the mineral world. Always positive and enjoyable to watch.
No! Hes the Dan Hurd of prospecting 😀
Agree!
LOL Although Bob Ross was an old Air Force Master Sergeant/First Sergeant. (Like me) Dan prospects in areas with happy little trees.
