As a nurse, I felt so happy when she said "This is not a business and that is the problem". Healthcare in this country is definitely based on profit. I feel for my patients so often. They deserve better.
As a person who wants to be a nurse, this is eye opening and brought up a very big realization as to the nurse I want to strive to be and always be. A part that’s disappointing for me was when I told my mother I wanted to be a nurse and she said I shouldn’t because I have too many emotions and I cry a lot.. that broke a piece of me and any time I bring up nursing she acts as if she doesn’t hear me, she thinks I wouldn’t be able to make it I feel. But regardless of that the part of “not allowing myself to dissociate , I should feel real emotions” even the “pushing it down” has given me the inspiration and hope that yes 🙌 as a nurse it should be normal to cry and feel emotions. That it’s okay! And the job is certainly not easy but feeling and having those coping skills can definitely help, this certainly has given me hope for the new generation of nurses❤and that I definitely can be a nurse and still feel!
Wow! This story gave me chills. I have never heard of her before this episode. She is a very wonderful person. I wish that there were more people like her out there. ❤
I’m a nurse…. I looooove how honest and kind and strong and brave this is. I love you guys. My Mom is a pharmacist, my father is a physician, my sister and I are nurses. I was depressed in hs and like to say that I was mental health aware way before it was cool haha. You are jumping forward with this perspective and will change the world. Keep going!!! Taylor, I’m too old for Twilight and honestly, hid in a box when those came out. I know you from this show 😊. Way to rebirth dude. Like Rob Lowe in the aughts ;). Power couple for sure!!!!!! Love ya’s😊. Holy crap, I didn’t know this story before this show oh my gosh. What an incredible person she is, what a brave difficult story.
I’m a new grad nurse and I remember watching/listening to her story (the movies version) in a hotel prior to a clinical and I had a hard time finishing the movie. It was such an unsettling feeling
Thank you for putting this story into the world!! This awareness is SO important, and I hope it can open eyes and inspire the change that we desperately need.
This story is nuts! Tay, just wanted to let you know that my mom was practicing nurse for about 30 years when Covid hit. It was after the treatment she and other nurses went through during covid when she decided that enough was enough and she retired.
This episode was so incredible! I'm about to start nursing school and I have always had so much respect and love for Amy's story. You guys are helping me go into nursing with such a strong foundation of prioritizing my mental health as a healthcare professional!🤍

This is such an encourage, empowering and inspiring episode. Amy is amazing. Probably my favourite episode of the podcast to date.
As a nurse myself this was unbelievable to hear and I am thankful that you shared this with us ❤
