  • Trigger Warning: The following episode contains content about sexual assault, child abuse, drug abuse, death, violence, and mental illness that some viewers may find disturbing. Viewer discretion is advised.
    Today, the Taylors are sitting down for an exclusive episode with Angel Carter Conrad as she bravely opens up about the tragic passing of her twin brother, Aaron Carter, and other details surrounding the Carter family. To begin, Angel talks about what life was like for her and her siblings growing up while their parents struggled with addiction. She explains when she and her siblings began battling addiction themselves, then shares about her relationships with her family and explains the real reason why she filed a restraining order against Aaron. Angel gives valuable insight into why it is so important for children to have a stable environment to grow up in and talks about the genetic component of mental health and how it can often run in the family. Finally, she offers advice for talking to young kids about mental health, highlights some signs that show a child may be struggling, and gives tips for someone who sees themselves stuck in a generational cycle but feels discouraged that they aren't strong enough to break it. We want to give a huge thank you to Angel for her vulnerability and strength in sharing her unimaginable story.

    I think about the Carter family all the time. I grew up listening to Aaron and The Backstreet Boys. I watched House of Carter in the 2000's thinking it was just funny drama but looking back knowing 3 of those siblings died young because they were struggling with addiction or mental health issues, its obvious they had a very difficult childhood.

  • @sonjateutsch9468

    Their childhood wasn't easy. Nick and Aaron were marketed. Instead of love, care and protection, the focus was on money. Aaron couldn't cope with it all. He didn't get what a child his age deserved. All the other children had to walk alongside. The story of the Carter family is tragic. I call that clique the snob 4, they think they are above the others in that family. Corey sends thousands of dollars to his deadbeat brother Kyle every month so he doesn't have to work and can pursue his fantasy of being a Disney animator which will never happen. "He didn't wanna hear that from me, he wanted to hear that from our mom and dad" hit me so hard. You really can tell that she HAS done the work, at SO many points in this interview. It can be so hard to maintain compassion, growing up in a toxic family, seeing such awful things happen to and from the family you LOVE. But she seems to have made it out the other side with her heart still intact and I respect it

    I always knew that Angel is the wiser and mature one since the House of Carters era. I love how she took the role as the peacemaker, always hugged it out and handled things well. Love to see the woman she has become now and I hope that Nick and her keep their relationship close and always be there for each other. The story is heartbreaking yet inspiring for us all especially the ones who are going through similar things. She's such a strong and inspiring human being.

    Great episode! Angel is so such a beautiful soul. I do wish they went a bit further into the sexual abuse on anything Angel could have been comfortable with sharing. I know Aaron was accusing Leslie of abuse...what are Angel's thoughts about that? Were these people from the entertainment industry that hurt Aaron and Angel? Is there anything Angel wants to do to hold these people accountable? That is maybe one of the biggest things that haunted Aaron and there should probably be a deeper discussion about this.

    Angel's behavior on "House of Carters" was deeply troubling. Her bullying of Leslie and manipulation of Nick were not only unfunny but also deeply disturbing. After watching the show, I felt a sense of dread for the family's future, and I lost interest in following their story.
    Now, I'm even angrier at Angel, seeing how her actions negatively impacted her siblings. Her constant boasting about being the only survivor among them feels callous and insensitive. It's particularly upsetting that she doesn't seem to express genuine sadness or remorse in interviews, repeating the same justifications over and over again.

    • @Moon240386
      @Moon240386 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I see what you mean. She could be pretty bitchy and had a big ego during House of Carters. And let’s be honest: she was the youngest child in a family that cared so much about their image and external validation that she gave in to that need as well, wanting to become a model.
      She was a lot younger then and I truly believe that she changed and got wiser because of everything she’s been through, becoming a mom and going to therapy. She’s not a saint, she’s just trying to keep her head above water, break stigmas and make a change in mental health care. Good for her.

    I think that’s such an important note in this. A lot of times mental health issues will stem from something - esp before the addiction occurs. Here being the sexual abuse of three siblings, and then the addictions that followed. It’s also so evident that when you put in the work to heal, you will change your future.
