Currently I have an RB20DET from an R32 Nissan Skyline in for a refresh. In this video we strip the engine down to a bare block ready for the refresh to begin.
I dont usually like TH-camrs video but your's more than deserve a like. All the love to you my bredda for such a detailed explanation seems like a very chill guy. Im not a mechanic but from this great video I feel I can become one. Love your videos and love your work man keep it up and may god bless you.😊❤
Thanks! I don't like how over the top and clickbaity a lot of TH-cam content is. I try to make mine informative, relaxed and not intense. Glad to see it comes across! All the best
@@ToolTimeWithTom you reckon it will hold up 400hp well with these mods? I’ve seen plenty videos of people pushing 400hp on a stock rb20 and I have no idea how the hell they do that without breaking something
Yeah should do if it's put together right, I've been at 400hp at the crank for a few years, seems to be holding up just fine. So long as the maps good you'll be OK, if the maps not good it will eat the pistons, I've got a stack of destroyed pistons from other RB's I've stripped for parts.
Thanks, appreciate it. I have a load of different stands, SGS is probably the better of the lot based out of the UK but I have a few other eBay specials, they're all pretty much the same. The bolts are just M10 grade 8.8, seem to do the job. I can recommend a scissor jack with a block of wood at the front for storage though, will take any sag out long term, helps me sleep at night at least 😂
@@ToolTimeWithTom great stuff man. I bought an rb20 last week. Got it on a stand today. I’ve been studying these videos like crazy, I’ll be following along side you step by step here soon. Thank you for your contribution to the community
Wow, I would love your help. I'm tearing down my RB25 Neo series 2 N/A I want to upgrade too turbo and intake with RB26 ITB. I ordered parts way back before Skyline tax went into orbit lol. What is weird my bottom end is a 75T when I thought it should have been 5L7. Any ideas?
@@ToolTimeWithTom Well as I had no clue on RB engines. I bought before I did research. So as I found out a lot changes with a NEO. So a lot of stuff I bought has to be modified. The heads are also different. Sigh I purchased a 5 layer head gasket to off set the 10:1 compression as I don't have DET heads and the Skyline tax on anything is insane, folks getting 10k for shells or 12k for any suspect long block in ref to RB26. I was wondering if you could recommend anything? Besides buying a RB25DET as most forums state. Most are of course before 2010 so they didnt see the inflation coming. I can make a list of stuff and maybe folks here could also help?
This is such a good teardown vid! Love the tips you added about weak bolts and common issues during the process
Thanks, appreciate it!
Going in on my RB20DET this weekend, going to follow this video. High quality and super informative. Thanks!
Mister you are very very good explain, thanks so much 👍👍👋👋👋☕☕☕ I will not miss to see everyone TH-cam.

This is weirdly soothing to watch. Lol.
Thank you for this! Legend
Great video, I’m looking to install ARP head studs and install thicker head gasket to prepare my rb20 for 400hp
Definitely consider getting the head skimmed, give it the best chance of sealing well, good luck with it

Incredible set of videos, I have to ask. What engine stand are you using and bolts to hold it? My engine stand sags like a granny 😅

I don't know too much about the neos, which pistons are you planning to use? Standard RB25DET ones?
