Hi there. My mom loves this recipe. I had tried so many recipes for tea cakes. My mom said this was the best ever. It was the cookie, most like the ones her grandmother made on Sundays. I have discovered that this recipe is so very flexible. Sometimes I add lemon extract and lemon zest and drizzle with a simple lemon juice; powdered sugar glaze. I’ve added chopped macadamia nuts or pecans or even toasted coconut . All winners🎉! Thank you so much for this recipe. It means the world to me and my mother. ❤

I have been searching for the perfect tea cake recipe for a long time. Yours come closer than any others I have view. There were 3 things you didn't tell us: 1. How much baking powder to use. 2. How much baking soda you used. 3. The temperature setting of the stove, and #: 4. Rather or not you used salted or unsalted butter? The outcome looked like what I have been searching for. I am sure that I can use other spices and flavorings to give it a different twist. Thank you. God bless you 🙏 and your channel.

Why no nutmeg? Is that only a “southern” teacake staple? How does adding baking soda AND baking powder enhance the teacake…why both? Thanks for the video. This is one of about seven or eight I’ve seen trying to come up with my own “best” teacake recipe. So far, your teacakes are the largest by far. Depending on the situation, that size works for me.

Have to add baking soda if using buttermilk, sour cream or yogurt. It's used to offset the acidity. I LOVE the addition of Nutmeg. For me,it's not a teacake without Nutmeg or mace

My mother taught me to make them thick and not fluffy but kind of heavy. They were good but I like light and fluffy better. I will let you know how they come out.

Ok...I'm going to help. One and a half teaspoon should do it. Two teaspoon of nutmeg. Control your temperature...butter should be barely workable . When you mix the butter, egg and sugar...At the very end turn the mixer at full speed for 30 second...this put air in the ingredient. This create a softer cookie. They should go in the freezer for atleast 10 mins. This is key...don't over cook the teacake...most people do.
