I could spend hours listening to JIM please dont ever stop having him on your vids once and a while, he is a very unique individual and fun to listen to.
I have friends that I've known since the 1960s that are carbon copies of Jim . The world needs good hearted people. People call me a old hippie , it certainly doesn't offend me a bit.😀
Great to see Jim again, what a wonderful guy he is. I could sit & listen to him for hours, he reminds me of the folks I met in Canada back in the 70’s. If you’re reading this Jim, here’s a tip from a retired paint & body man from the U.K. When you’re colour sanding with W/Dry paper, keep a block of soap handy. Wet the paper, rub a bit of soap on it before you start sanding and it’ll stop the paper getting clogged up. As for the paint going “grey”, that’s the cold damp air causing it to “go milky” or “bloom”. It was a common problem here during the cold, wet months with cellulose paint Anyways, take care and thanks for giving your time, it’s always a pleasure 👍🇬🇧🇨🇦
Love going to visit Jim. You are a great book of knowledge Jim and I wish I could meet and talk for hours!! Thank you Jolene and Chad for sharing your page with us all!!
I love Jim’s conservative and ingenious approach to making ridiculously unaffordable projects affordable. Well done sir, and once again, I tip my hat to you! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🔧❤️✌🏻 No kidding, I could listen to Jim chat all day and then some. Thanks for sharing folks who have a talent to communicate ideas-just like you🤟🏻
it's fun hearing Jim talking about his experiences with the old stuff he has around the place and the way he's doing the things to get the job done, like it
Us old time painters called the paint turning gray blushing. Lacquer paint would do that if the wrong temperature thinner was used or the humidity was high. That brings back memories from long ago.
Chad: The 1957 Oldsmobile Super 88 2dr. Was one of my the nicest Oldsmobiles ever designed. It wouldn’t take much to to get it running and driving. I am glad to see that you are attempting to save it. Cheers
Im sad to say that thats too big of a project and chad is too good a friend to say no to jimmy. but i can appreciate chads love of lifes journey and friendships..and honestly how would anyone say no to jim, hes a beautiful gentle soul the world needs more of, more than ever.......thanks
I have always use BOUNTY Dryer sheet to protect my Motorhome in Florida during summer storage and the same with our cottage up here Canada with great success. Also used it in storage up her . Used one box per regular car as a rule . Have yet to have a mouse problem
Great of you guys putting a floor in that car! Quick tip for Jim: put the rattle can in a bucket of warm water next time;) would've loved going for a cup of coffee with you guys.
the Ferrari is waaaay making me nervous, like accidently falling into a tall top heavy china cabinet full of extra thin super fragile crystal antique glasswares and rare old ceramic dishes and the what have you. great video of Jims stuff and Jim's talking about cars.
Hey Jim the fergie has a lock out switch on the hi low gear leaver. So they have to be in neutral on that lever to start. They are mostly disconnected. But might be worth a look?
To wet sand orange peel with super fine papers, use lighter fluid instead of water or soap water. That eliminates the paper getting "dimples". Try it, it really works. Not harming the paint at all.
I think what Jim wants is to weld up the spider gears in the rear end to lock it up, roundy round racers do that to help their race cars pull off the corners better
Jim-a new set of points will close up after a few hundred miles as they seat themselves and become parallel to each other. Then you have to readjust them, NOT replace them. After the second adjustment they will run forever.
Tell Jim that those older tractors with point- condenser systems have distributer shaft wear problems. If the shaft gets worn, it becomes a chore to set the points and make it run. When the starter turns the engine, the points and shaft are not in time. You can pull it with a vehicle and it will fire up but not when the engine spins faster. This is typical with the early 8N Fords that are so popular. Cure the problem with a rebuilt distributer. Also on point systems, a loose condenser can keep an engine from starting or corroded contacts. ___ Max Yearwood
A very effective way to keep mice away from your car is to put whole cloves in a dryer sheet making small baggies with a twist tie. It works have never seen even a sign of a mouse in our motor home. Just spread the baggies around in the interior with the windows and doors closed. They do not like the aroma!
Electric buffers are great, but if you use a thin extension cord you will burn them up quick, need a good gauge extension cord to prolong the life of ur electric tools.
The fuel accumulator on CIS fuel injection maintains fuel pressure in the fuel system when hot to prevent vapor lock. It maintains residual pressure in the system to prevent vaporization of the fuel when hot. Fuel leaking into the intake manifold would be from a leaking fuel distributor.
You can pull the return side of the accumulator off and with the fuel pump running there should be no fuel coming out. Just a diaphragm and spring inside.
I thought I was gonna piss myself laughing listening to Jim talk about his car catching on fire. I have known a lot of characters in my life...Jim reminds me of a lot of them.
